Great 5 string P bass… awesome with flat wounds!

By DFK from TN
Music Background: Church, jazz, funk, rock, blues, bluegrass.

Got this last November in tobacco sunburst…I really like it. I had Sweetwater set it up with Labella DTF 760FL-B, string thru-body. This bass seems made for flats. It sounds so good in the mix with them. I also have a V5-5 string with rounds. Between the two of these, I'm favoring the P5R-5 string at the moment. It sound so FAT! The rosewood feels amazing too. I was a little disappointed when I first took it out of the box because the input jack's but had come off in the box and the jack had fallen into the control cavity, which required me to fish it out. I fixed it easily and just keep an eye on it making sure the nut is tight. Sweetwater also strung the 760FL-Bs through the body, which LaBella clearly says not to do. I talked to Sweetwater's techs and they said with the angle of the string ferrules it's fine. I'm honestly not convinced, but generally if these don't break during install, they'll be okay for the long haul.

Sire P5 5 String - Tobacco Burst

By Ralph from S. Florida
Music Background: World's Worst Bass Player, but trying

So, as it happens, I got the last one of these just the other day, 2/9/23. That's when it got here. I opened it on 2/11/23.
Man, could not have been happier with this bass. The finish is amazing, the neck is great; and, the P-Bass sound you get out of it is every bit as good as anything within 500 bucks of it and more. The B String is fine in case you want to know. Don't know how Sire does it, but they do. I recently got a 4 string edition (natural finish) and put in some Seymoure Duncan SBP-2 Hot P Bass pickups. In my opinion, it beats the hell out of any other $1-2K P Bass out there. So, that one, with the killer pickups and the install came to $. Insane. I'm now waiting for a green 4 string to come in and I'll probably throw in some Aguilar P-Bass pickups. By the way, Rogan McGarvey did me well on this bass, so ask for him if you call. Let's not forget they all seem to come with roasted maple necks with a satin finish. And, nobody packs a bass better than Sweetwater.
