Microphone Mute/Talk Switch with XLR Input and Output

The Rolls MM11 Pro Switchable Mic Mute/Talk Professional Microphone Switch makes it a cinch to control your microphone’s signal with a single button push. Operating the MM11 Pro couldn’t be simpler, with an internal toggle to choose between push-to-talk or push-to-mute operation as well as a large actuator switch and easy-to-navigate I/O. Required for a Good Talk Back Microphone Experience

By Aj
Music Background: Hey Nineteen - Tribute to Steely Dan

With more bands using in ear monitors, band members isolate themselves in their own mixes, which is the main benefit, but this makes it difficult to communicate with each other without being heard in the front of the house mix. The Rolls MM11-Pro MicMute Microphone Mute/Talk Switch is the perfect solution. It does not need batteries or power, and it is small so it fits anywhere. I use the "Press to Talk" option so it is muted all the time. As a drummer I am in the back of the stage and if I have a problem, like a broken snare, I can discreetly tell the band to pause, make the change and get right into the next song.

Too much effort for TB with hands

By Phil from Santa Clara, CA
Music Background: Studio Owner

Works as advertised but it requires too much force to be used as a TB using my hands. I will adapt as a foot switch.

Pad, not mute

By Kent M. from Sanford, FL

With mute engaged (whichever way you set it up), it only pads the signal (probably how they pass phantom without pops). It pads significantly, though you can still hear the muted signal, just very very low (-50db maybe?). Will suffice in a pinch, but not a complete muting of the signal.

ROOLS MM11-PRO

By Sweetwater Customer

Does exactly what it says it will do. Lightweight, no popping or other noises, compact, rugged and easy to use. We have two on stage and couldn't be happier.

Best value for the money spent

By Sweetwater Customer

This is perfect for the needs of our Ukulele Club.
#1. It passes phantom power thru the box from the mixer to the mic at all times.
*
#2. On certain songs, our "percussionist" (triangle, tambourine, kazoo, etc.) must use a mic for a few seconds, and instead of running up to and away from the mic, they can stand still and simply step on the footswitch to activate the mic when needed.
*
#3. There is no electrical "clicking" heard thru the sound system when you step on the switch.
*
#4. It is not a "step on the switch and make direct contact" circuit arrangement". It is more of a step on the switch and remove a pad or resistance from the mic cable. As others had said, a tiny amount of the mic signal still passes thru the box when the switch is NOT activated. It appears to me that the signal is attenuated by about 95%. We don't notice any talking or singing coming thru the system when the switch is NOT activated, but if you tap harshly on the mic, you can hear a slight tap in the speakers. There doesn't appear to be any mic signal loss when you step on the switch.
*
#5. It beats turning the mixer slider up and down every time we need a mic ( and lets the person who needs the mic, control the situation without waving to the sound guy ).
*
#6. This review is based on 3 weeks of use. We cannot comment on longevity at this point.
*
#7. In my opinion, the XLR connectors are mounted upside down. The female mic connector release button is usually facing upwards, but it faces downward on this unit. You get used to it after the first use of trying to force the mic cable in the wrong way.
*
#8. I also have one of the original "Cough Boxes" which is the size of a brick and is not to comfortable to operate as a foot switch. This new MM11Pro is a perfect size and your foot does not fatigue when stepping on the switch for a long time.
*
#9. We use it as a push to talk switch (PTT). It can also be used as a Push to Mute (PTM) by simply sliding a small recessed switch using a paper clip.
*
#10. Thanks to Sweetwater for having it in stock at a super value.
