Very well made, neutral microphone
This microphone is made in Germany and as I understand it, it uses a Neumann capsule and Neumann shock mount. Sonically the mic is very transparent while having a sweet top end. The build quality is excellent and the shock mount is highly effective. The only down side is the mic has does not include a rolloff switch or attenuator. For my applications, this is not an issue.

This mic is a sleeper! I wondered why I didn't see a lot of marketing for this microphone and believe it's because Sennheiser doesn't want it to interfere with their flagship brand. Many don't know that Sennheiser has owned Neumann for about 30 yrs and from the sound of the MK4, I'd say the engineering at Neumann has rubbed off on them. The MK4 has that broadcast sound and source clarity familiar in the TLM 103 and the 102 series of mics. The MK4 performs way above its price point and I can definitely see it being my go to vocal mic for years to come. I'm so glad I took a chance and bought it, because as soon as I plugged it in and did a mic test I was sold.

This mic has been great for me in starting my voiceover career! I've been very impressed with the sound quality and low self-noise, it's durability, and I think it looks great, too. It has some good weight to it as well. They sure know how to make great microphones in Germany. After using the MK4 with my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 for the last five years, I've just now bought an upgrade (Sennheiser MKH 416), but I will keep this MK4 as a great backup. If you're starting in voiceover, you won't be disappointed in this purchase. Remember, don't skimp on a good quality XLR cable.

My band has been using this Mic on our new album and I'm blown away, it is so true. If this Mic isn't good enough for you then you need a better singer not a better mic.
Great Voice Over Mic!
This mic is a wonderful workhorse for my home studio. It's responsive, and it has low self noise. It's a great value, and certainly one of the best mics in this price range.
