Close to perfect

Built in looper and drum machine, take anywhere with USB power bank, nice amp sim options.....it is the complete package.
Have had a blast trying out all the options without reading the manual, very intuitive to operate. I don't need a mic so the input jack doesn't matter to me. Effects are on par with what one would expect. Adjustable power settings are a real plus, it can get loud.
A+ experience as always when purchasing gear from Sweetwater and my sales engineer Dave Brow, been using Sweetwater for years and it is great to talk to the same person every time.

Great little practice or small jam amp!

By Jesse from Chicago, IL on October 14, 2022

This is a fully-featured little amp that's great for practicing in the bedroom or taking to small jam sessions. The built-in effects are good for a beginner who doesn't have any pedals yet. The rhythm and looping features are good for perfecting timing and solos.

Awesome Amp. Love the looper. Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

By Johnny from Nashville, TN on June 1, 2022

I like Vox products and this is a good upgrade to my Mini5 Rhythm. The biggest difference I noticed were the amp models and how it responds to adjusting the Gain and Tone on the Mini Go. It is 10x better because I can use the same amp model clean, crunchy, or straight up dirty. Whereas the Mini5 had amp models specifically meant to be a high gain or clean channel.

The speakers and quality of the sound itself? I think it is great to my ears. It doesn't really sound boxy or tinny compared to the speakers on my Mini5 at full wattage.

My favorite feature now is the on board looper. I don't own or ever use a loop pedal because I was bad at it. This thing is different. The loop doesn't start recording until you start playing. I don't know why but no matter how off my timing is when I'm trying to save the loop it always sound good. I think it is programmed to adjust the loop and make it sound as fluid as possible. There can be a significant delay from when the loop starts from where it ends if you're intentionally trying to do it.
The looper overdub though, it works wonderfully. There's a light that will switch to orange and it is so easy to add layers. Play something and then stop, the extra loop will start playing. Now you can toggle off the overdub or keeping adding layers using the same or different amp models and settings. However, there had been a few times when it wanted to overdub while I was trying to play a new loop. The light would turn orange instead of red for a new loop and every time I played something it wouldn't work properly. So I would have to turn the amp off and on again.

There are four things that Vox changed and that I dislike. First, there are now 1/3 of the amount of drum tracks the mini5 had. Second, they replace the tempo knob for the drum tracks with a tap tempo. Third, some of the effects like the compressor was replaced with an octave. Lastly, when the headphones are plugged in the sound is not the same as the Mini5. It sounds compressed like you're hearing the amp in another room.

I would recommend this amp. If you're coming from the previous generation you might have the same opinions. However, if you never tried these series then this is a solid amp. It can get really loud or quiet for late night practice.

There is also a compatible switch pedal you can buy separate to control the looper and drum tracks.

Great amp.

By aaron gebard from Dayton, OH on May 3, 2022 Music Background: Mostly a bass player but also some guitar

I got this for my dad as an early birthday present. He was really only looking for a practice amp but he likes the tone so much he wants to start using it for gigs as well. The only negative thing I can say about it is the tuner doesn't seem to work very well but that isn't really an essential feature.

Awesome amp

Great practice amp.

Big sound for the small size

By Travis Long from Neosho, MO on March 21, 2024

I bought this because I needed something small and portable to practice with and it has exceeded my expectations on how good it really sounds. It's got just the right sounds for the stuff I want to play and I haven't even scratched the surface of what I can do with this. Having a built in drum-machine is also nice for solo-practice. If you are looking for a flexible practice amp and are after the Vox sound, this is a great choice.

Great Little Amp

By Barry from Orchard Park, NY on January 12, 2024 Music Background: I've played in bands and taught guitar at a music store for 10 years. Presently, I'm an old fart who just enjoys playing!!!

This is not a comprehensive review, as I bought the Vox Mini Go 10 solely for practicing and doodling in my living room while watching TV. The drum machine is serviceable and 40 seconds of looping is enough to get a groove going. What I like is that it's simple to use - no fuss no muss.

As far as the sounds go, they're pretty decent - better than I thought they'd be. The cleans are nice and the hi gain sounds are very good (the tone control does a good job of taming the hi gain sounds). The fx are decent as well - not much tweakability but for my purposes that's a plus. Obviously, it wouldn't be my first choice, but I think I could record a basic demo with this little beastie and have it sound halfway decent. I love the octave effect and the vocoder amp for a little wackiness.

I can't speak to how it would do in a jamming or busking situation. It could probably keep up with a couple of acoustic guitars, an acoustic bass and some light percussion but not full-blown drums or anything too heavy, but that's just a guess.

I only gave the Vox 4 1/2 stars because, IMO, although I definitely dig the amp and it's tons of fun to play with, I think the price is a little too steep for what you get. A Chinese amp company has a practice amp for the same amount of money that is a full-blown programmable amp with a much longer looper and a drum machine, but I don't feel comfortable buying something directly from China. At least if something goes wrong with the Vox I have the Sweetwater guarantee and their customer service, which is a huge thing IMO. Also, the tuner is a bit odd, as it only tunes to an E note. So, you can tune 3 strings out of 6 with it: the low E, the high E and the 5th string 7th fret harmonic E. You have to tune the remaining strings to the 1st, 5th and 6th strings. Not a biggie but still, in this day and age....

So, overall I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this amp to friends who need a small, simple practice amp with a looper and drum machine.
