This thing is awesome.
My band has been trying to streamline our back line by eliminating amps from our smaller venue/stage gigs. This meant using a Headgear wedge as both monitor and input for vocals while running instruments directly to the mixer. The initial mix with just the wedge was low in volume and required a boost of some sort.
The Behringer mic300 solved the problem 10fold.
The only reason for the 1/2 star demerit is there is no EQ adjustment.
To be fair, I knew that going into it, but it would be nice to have one tone knob.
Other than that it is in a solid metal body, is easy to use and adjust, sounds
excellent, and the tube glow looks cool on stage as well.
I realize that last one isn't important, but it is a nice touch for sure.
Limiter is great, but audio quality blows my mind!
Pretty darn good
The last single preamp I bought was a Grace-costing significantly more than this little number.
I'm delighted with it. Tube warmth, two controls for gain and output. (The Grace was more complicated than it needed to be)
So, after a number of years, I'm grateful the Grace pooped out.
The only MINOR isssue about the behringer is a lack of on/off switch. Very minor.
I used to avoid Behringer like the plague, but they've clearly changed their ways.
Bang for the Buck!
C'mon, folks... for $, it's a pretty sweet little Mic Pre, including a limiter & phantom to boot. I was also surprised there isn't much noise floor at all, and simply setting both knobs to 12 o'clock feels like the sweet spot for pretty much anything. Of course, if you need ultra pristine, industry standard quality, you can defer to UA Pres, etc; but for those times when you just need some basic Mic juicing here and there, this little box has plenty of bang for the buck. Honestly, I think it's plenty great for tracking certain things right along side my high end Pres.
Does what a mic pre should do.
just wow. Plenty of gain. Sure, there's a little bit of noise when you really crank it for
a quiet acoustic guitar maybe, but i feel it's acceptable at this price point.
I sold my BAE 1073 preamp because i wanted to buy a camera. LOL I got the camera, and bought this
preamp to replace the BAE. (a thousand dollar preamp) I am doing lots of vocal tracking with it
using a Lauten audio Clarion. It sounds pretty much the same. Just a bit of noise when cranked.
But wow, what you can get these days is craaaaazy.
Great , Bought it 11/10/21
I have had this for a few years now its amazing. I use it with Neewer NW-700. It really is amazing for the price. as with all pre-amps you need to take the time to set it up and get it right. But everyone always ask me what my Mic set up is in discord.
Still deciding
I am using the device as a preamp to my wireless microphone. It does work but there is considerable distortion present. I read some reviews about the device which stated that the vacuum tube that comes with it is not a premium tube and customers would be well served to upgrade to a better grade tube. I don't know if this is the problem, but I am suspecting that it is. Problem is that I don't know where to get a better tube. I could certainly insert it myself if I had one.
Love it!
Love this tube preamp from behringer! I've seen another review about it distorting after some time but I've never had an issue with it even with the stock tube. I highly recommend changing the tube to a higher quality tube or an old new stock. It really does make all the difference!
Good product
I use it in studio with rode NT1-A microphone and it was very nice, you get what you pay. Well done behringer
Sounds great when you first plug it in..but then....
Got this little gadget into my bass signal chain on my gig. Sounded great, perfect. UNTIL 4 hours into the gig and it was distorting after being on that long. Back it goes, you get what you pay for. I was searching for ART stuff, this Behringer somehow snuck into the choices. Sorry Joseph I'll send you a gift card for your troubles and recaptured commission on the sale. I'll try something better asap.
