The Moogerfooger Lowpass!

The Moog Moogerfooger MF-101 Lowpass Filter is the real deal. This is the classic Moog filter that changed the sound of electronic music. Go on - reach out and sweep the filter with the Cutoff knob. Or use the Envelope section to do it automatically. Plug in one or more expression pedals or control voltages to do it. Or do all three. This pure analog filter sounds fat and juicy - and not at all like its digital brethren. Fortify your sonic arsenal with the best-sounding, most playable filter in the cosmos: the Moog Moogerfooger MF-101.

Moog Music Moogerfooger MF-101 Lowpass Filter at a Glance:
  • Why you need an analog lowpass filter
  • Boatloads of sound-shaping mojo
  • A bona fide Moog
Why you need an analog lowpass filter

If you're into making music, the Moog Moogerfooger MF-101 is a must-have. Simply put, a lowpass filter removes high frequencies from a sound, rendering it mellower, more muted. The lower you move the cutoff frequency, the more muted your sound. You can think of it like a window shade: as you pull the shade down, it omits the light that's coming in the top of the window, then the light from the middle, and finally all the light. When you sweep the MF-101 Lowpass Filter's Cutoff control, it does the same thing to your sound spectrum. At this juncture, it's worth mentioning that analog is king here; lowpass filters are one area where digital doesn't quite make the grade. Analog lowpass filters sound satisfyingly fat and punchy, and they behave differently from their digital brethren, even allowing you to drive them into self-oscillation with judicious use of their resonance control.

Boatloads of sound-shaping mojo

With its Signal Mix, Cutoff Frequency, Resonance Amount, and Envelope Amount rotary controls, the Moog Moogerfooger MF-101 gives you boatloads of sound-shaping mojo. What's more, you get a choice of 2-pole or 4-pole settings - for brighter or deeper filter frequency response - courtesy of a rocker switch. Another rocker selects between smooth and fast envelope follower response. Want to keep your hands free for playing? The Lowpass Filter's parameters can be controlled with expression pedals or external control voltages (as well as the unit's addictively tweakable knobs).

A bona fide Moog

The MF-101 Lowpass Filter was designed by the legendary Bob Moog. It incorporates a bona fide Moog filter plus an envelope follower for dynamic control over filter sweeps. Use the MF-101 Moogerfooger with keys, guitar, bass, samples, or even recorded tracks, for the ultimate in real-deal analog filter effects, unbesmirched by contact with the digital world! And the MF-101's pedigree? This Moogerfooger is a direct descendant of the original Moog modular synthesizers. Need we say more?

Moog Moogerfooger MF-101 Lowpass Filter Features:

  • Envelope Amount control adjusts amount of input signal envelope sweep on filter cutoff frequency
  • Mix control crossfades continuously from unfiltered to filtered audio
  • Drive control adjusts the gain of the audio input
  • Smooth-Fast rocker switch selects between smooth and fast envelope follower response

Want real Moog sound? Take it from the die-hard analog synth masters here at Sweetwater: buy a Moog. It doesn't matter which one; their synths start at top quality and only go up from there. Sweetwater's relationship with Moog goes way back, and some of us fondly remember the last time Bob himself came to visit. Over the years, we've had the honor of watching Moog grow and evolve, and with synthesis experts like Daniel Fisher on staff, we're still one of the first companies to catch wind of new Moog products - they never fail to impress! Whether it's a classic reissue, a breakthrough new keyboard, or even a cool effects pedal, you can be sure anything you get from Moog will make you happy, and we'd love to tell you all about it.
