Sturdy and well-finished
I ordered 2 of these to go with my MDV-DSK. In my impatience for my studio space to be finished, I went ahead and assembled one of these to use as a temporary mini studio desk. The fit and finish is impeccable, especially the finish. It has a nice laminate top that should prove to be impervious to water rings (yes, I bring beverages near my expensive studio equipment). While assembling it, the screwdriver slipped and skidded across one of the side panels...it didn't even leave a mark. That's one tough finish.
I also like that they provide little plastic inserts to cover all of the hex-head screws that are visible on the exterior. They also provide little plastic inserts to fill the holes on the top that allow for the optional overbridge to be installed.
This unit is a little larger than the picture suggests, even though the listed measurements are correct. It looks square in the picture, but it's actually deeper than it is wide. The entire top is 28" deep , and the rack section is 24" deep. And it is HEAVY...MA uses some really dense particle board for these.
I also installed the optional caster set. They meet expectations and allow for this heavy beast to move freely when it's time to crawl behind it and plug things in. Since they install behind the kick plate, they only add 1/2" to the height of the unit. But this does make it difficult to move on carpet. Should work very well on a solid surface though.
All in all, this thing is built very well. I'm expecting it to last a lifetime.
