By Matt from NJ
Music Background: Guitarist, foh engineer

Using this to ground lift the main pa signal at my church and it has been flawless for years now. Absolutely recommend.

Great value. No-fuss operation.

By Garry S. from Wetumpka, AL
Music Background: Retired pro bassist.

Works great for my needs. Handles stereo L/R signals from keyboards, and/ or left/right gtr splits for processing, and/ or mono signals using only one side, etc. No battery to worry about!

Can't beat the value

By Edwin from Schaumburg il

This directbox is great. Im sure there are other units that are better, but for the money, you can't beat the price.

Great for Synths

By Berwyn R. from Berwyn, IL
Music Background: Recording Engineer, Producer and Musician

I bought 2 of these for 2 keyboards to route for both recording and rehearsal use. They sound great and quiet, and I also pull one out as needed to record my active basses. Really well built. Recommended.

Mackie Direct Boxes are a scam

By Tim from R
Music Background: I like old stuff

Mackie direct boxes are a scam. The quality's fake. DI exploded on stage. Bent wrist, thing freaking exploded.

Sound great, switches fail

By Steven from IN
Music Background: Live sound company owner

I've owned 6 of these DIs for over 2 years. They always sound great but simply don't hold up in a live situation. The pad switches seem to self distruct after a period of time even after careful live use. Never found out the root cause, could be crazy keyboard players kicking them or something but I decided to go the Radial route for more durability.

Great for keyboards

By Levi S.

I bought the direct box a month ago. So far, it has work great. Ken at Sweetwater did an amazing job concerning attention to detail. I recommend the direct box for anyone that plays keyboards and use IEM.

Works great!

By John from Texas

I bought this to connect my keyboard in stereo to my audio interface. When connected in mono with a condenser microphone in the other channel, this little box protects my keyboard from phantom power or any voltage applied to its channel.
It's got a small footprint, smaller than it looks in the pictures, it's built like a tank, and the ground lift worked perfectly to quiet some ground loop noise.
I'd definitely buy this again.

By Miguel C.

It has everything you need and is very well built.

clean design and excellent value

By Steffen P. from Tujunga, CA
Music Background: Professional musician, producer

The stereo box is perfect for the long cable runs I needed for synthesizers with stereo outputs that are located far away from my mixing console. The design is attractive and the pads and ground lift are welcome additional features for those that might require them, although I don't. Most importantly, the signal is very clean. Other similar boxes are more expensive, so I consider this unit a good value.

Prefect for running my keys in stereo!

Just as good as the more expensive ones

By Dusty K.

I needed a back up direct box and did not want to spend a lot of money since this was going to used for back up. After talking to my great sales engineer Jake Hersha, I decided on the Mackie MDB-2P. It is built like a tank and does the job just as good as the one I have that is $100 more. Great find and as usual free shipping.

Does the job

By Dov G.
Music Background: Studying classical piano, playing rock

I got this unit in case I need more hi-z inputs to my mixer (a Behringer XR18), or the guitarists/bassist need to be more than 10 feet from the mixer. Essentially, it's in my jamming kit just in case.

The unit is in fact built like a tank. The aluminum box is completely rigid and solid. The "wings" framing the controls and inputs/outputs on both sides are nicely designed to recess them, preventing accidentally hitting a switch or during performance.

In my tests, I hear no noise or coloration of the signal compared to using other ways to connect my keyboards and/or acoustic-electric into my mixer.

I do experience a roughly 6db drop in signal versus going direct with a keyboard. I assume this is because of the change in impedance.

As usual, Erik Bothwell provided me with the best advice and support. Thank you Erik and Sweetwater!

Great Stereo DI Box

By Dan N.

When I saw the name "Mackie" on this DI box I knew it would be a quality built item and I was right. I'm using this on my keyboard to send a stereo signal to the console and it's working like a charm. I love it.

Back tracks

By Jonathan H. from Boston, MA
Music Background: original bands and cover bands

Great product, as advertised, bang for ya buck! I am drummer. I bought this DI Box for backtracking. One side click, other side backtrack to FOH. The dual channel is a great option for me, to send the thru feed to my mini mixer (behringer Xenyx 802) for my own monitor mix. Gives me more flexibility to fine tune the monitor mix.

Great DI

By Mike from Lake Cumberland/Green River
Music Background: Been attempting this guitar thang since I was 12. Play with an awesome praise and worship band at 3trees church.

I debated between the Mackie and the Radial. So I opted for the Mackie since it was a lot less money to achieve what I needed; send my signal in stereo from my Strymon Iridium to the mixer board. Since a friend already was using his setup (Iridium on his pedalboard as well) with a Radial stereo DI, it was also a good way to compare. To my ears (about 30 years experience) I can not tell any difference in quality of tone. No signal loss and or change in tone. And the Mackie is truly built like a tank. So with the Mackie reputation I feel like I made the best and wisest choice between these two brands of DI boxes.

Great passive box

By Herb from Connecticut
Music Background: Pro musician / engineer

I"ve always been a huge fan of Mackie, the sound quality for you get for the price is hard to believe once you hear it. And this DI is no exception this has to be the cleanest sounding passive DI I"ve owned at this price range, to my ears I would dare to say that it rivals the Radialeng DI boxes costing considerably more. Mackie does it again!
