PRS McCarty 594 Electric Guitar - Charcoal Burst 10-Top Reviews
The Paul Reed Smith McCarty 594 10-Top solidbody electric guitar provides a new take on their important McCarty line, gracefully blending elements of a fine vintage instrument with modern building processes and appointments. The McCarty 594 10-Top's TCI-tuned 58/15 LT pickups offer up both bell-like humbucking and single-coil tones. PRS paid extra attention to the neck, designing an asymmetrical Pattern Vintage neck carve with a 24.594" scale length. And the updated bridge and vintage-style non-locking tuners further ensure you'll be enjoying the best the McCarty 594 10-Top has to offer.

It hits and hits you hard
I've been a Fender player since I learned about Electric Guitars. Fender American Pro II, Acoustasonic etc etc. Recently decided to get a guitar with two humbuckers.
After a tough competition between Les Paul and PRS McCarty, PRS won the race. I bit the bullet and ordered the McCarty 594 Core.
The moment I plugged it in to my Boss Katana, this guitar just screamed quality. The tone is simply unmatched. It's a treat for your ears. It's been 3 hours, I'm still awestruck with this tone.
Moving on to the looks, the Charcoal Burst 10 Top is a treat for your eyes. It looks stunning.
And of course, I got a call from Mike who congratulated me for this purchase.
PRS McCarty 594
This is the best guitar I have ever played it does everything so well and it's easy on the eyes! Nicest guitar in my collection of eight. Thanks Nolan Dye for all you do you have never steered me wrong!
Comfortable with beautiful tone.
This guitar just feels natural in my hands. I don't want to put it down. The humbuckers with coil taps offer an amazing tonal range that makes this guitar extremely versatile. I find myself playing styles that I hadn't before simply because I can. Worth every penny.
Amazing
I"ve played a number of amazing instruments in my 50+ years of attempting to be a decent player. And over the years I have found and purchased some very nice guitars, but in my quest for well-crafted wood, I have finally met the instrument I have been looking for. Nothing short of a work of art with playability that is truly off the charts. Out of the box, the best sounding guitar I own.
Phenomenal
I've had this guitar for over a year now and I LOVE it. The only problem is that it makes my other electric guitars feel like cheap toys. The asymmetrical neck profile is extremely comfortable. The pickups absolutely sing. The coil taps essentially make it four guitars in one. It's the nicest guitar I've ever played and I can't recommend it enough. Just buy it.
PRS McCarty 594
This is the only guitar I need. Warm, responsive, clear, and articulate pickups through my Bogner Shiva, Two Rock Classic Reverb, and Hiwatt DR103 through a couple Marshall 4x12 cabinets using Celestion Creamback Speakers.
One Guitar to Rule Them All
This is simply the best guitar I have ever touched. I have several high end Gibson"s and Fenders and a couple other PRSs, but they don"t compare to this guitar. I"ll give some specifics.
1. Fit, finish, and overall quality is as close to perfection as I have ever seen. The maple top is dramatically striking. There is not an unplanned gap or finish run or rough fret on the guitar. Try finding a Gibson or Fender that meets that standard. They don"t exist.
2. 58/15 LT pickups are rich, clear, and articulate in bot full Humbucker and tapped single coil modes. The guitar doesn"t make a bad sound.
3. Playability is exceptional. The neck shape feels different, but embraceable. The frets and fret board are smooth and fast. The controls fall easily to hand while playing, like they are just where they should be.
4. Hardware is top notch. The timers are solid and smooth. The bridge has the most massive saddles I"ve ever seen. The result is a guitar that sustains longer than I do, while the body resonates in a pleasant, very musical way.
In short, I want to play this guitar more than any other guitar I"ve ever owned. I think that"s the ultimate test and compliment a guitar can have.
The nicest guitar I've ever played.
This is BY FAR the highest-quality guitar I've ever played, and I've played guitars that cost a lot more than this. The neck profile is absolutely perfect. The LT pickups are very warm with great tone. The coil taps offer a variety of different tones; meaning this is essentially four guitars is one. The only way to improve it would be an ebony fretboard and a Piezo in the bridge. Hooray for installment plans :D This guitar is worth every penny and then some. I would strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone. The only problem is that it makes my other electric guitars feel like cheap toys. Even my '99 Gibson Explorer.
Can't put it down!
This is an amazing instrument. I have a bunch of guitars and this one sent the rest back to their cases. The rosewood neck, especially, has a bit of texture, you can slightly feel the grain but it is very fast, your hand never hangs up on the back of the neck. I've read that the rosewood neck brings out the mids slightly more than a maple neck but I don't think I can tell the difference. I've had the instrument for a couple weeks now and I keep noticing new design details, interesting patterns in the flamed top, and neck. This is by far, the best playing and best sounding guitar I've ever picked up. I use a Rivera Chubster 40 amp, through which this PRS sounds fantastic, I hear new tones coming through that I didn't expect. I lowered the action just a bit but the setup and intonation was perfect right out of the box. This guitar will be a family heirloom. You can play and articulate nuances all the way up the fretboard that my other guitars seem to cancel out. This McCarty sounds as beautiful as it is to just stare at and put your hands on it. Thanks to Ashton to make the sale a great experience. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase and Sweetwater experience.
Thanks Phil
Great guitar, but honestly writing this review as more of a review of Phil Potts my rep. He really helped me out a lot with this order and was super patient. Thanks so much Phil!
Such a B.E.A.U.TIFUL colored guitar!!
This guitar, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful instruments that I have ever seen. I recently received this guitar a couple of days ago through Sweetwater, and it's the first thing I pick up when I wake up,and the last things I put down when I go to bed. Everything about this guitar is spot on. It sounds amazing I thought the neck shape was going to way to big for m small hand. but my hand feels so comfortable holding it. Out of all the guitars I own, this McCarty 594, is by far my best one. In my opinion, I feel this guitar is a perfect combination of a Les Paul and Strat. This was my first experience buying a guitar from Sweetwater, I will say that working with my sales engineer Steven, and those that work with him, that this was by far the best customer service I have ever received when purchasing a musical instrument? I truly look forward to working with Sweetwater on my next musical purchase!
