Suprised

By Joe Bajurin from South Lake Tahoe, CA on April 24, 2024 Music Background: Get paid sometimes to play

Well received the Amp today. It is really good for a 1X10 amp. First it gets pretty loud. I do have comparison amps I've owed to judge. and SVT with 8X10. G&K 4X10 combo with powered MBP powered 4X10 cabinet. Fender Super Bassman with 8X10s. And smaller but good Amp G&K combo with 2X12s. And owned original old Fender Bassman tilt back with 2X12s. Now main main Bass is a Fender Precision. Though have owned two Ric's 4001 and 4003. Hofner made in Germany. and a couple of short scale Gibson and least I for get a Fender Jazz many years ago.I guess what I'm trying to say this little for my taste stands out for its size. Oh and John at Sweetwater was great.

Go to practice and small gig amp

By Aaron from CT on March 18, 2024

I've had one for several years and am not disappointed. It checks all of the boxes; light, compact, portable, powerful, durable, reliable, and flexible (many I/O options). It sounds great at bedroom volume and has plenty of power for both band practice and small venue gigs. It's really easy to haul around too. My only complaint is that it's missing the typical GK overdrive that many of their amps feature, but that's easily remedied with a preamp pedal.

THE BEST STUDIO/PRACTICE AMP

By Adrian J. from TX on September 15, 2023 Music Background: Intermediate

I love this amp! The overall experience is outstanding. The amp cuts very well in a small practice session or recordings/demos. The mix, eq, and simplicity give this amp 5 stars. Everything about this amp screams quality, and it is meant to be played to top things off the amp is super light.

If you're not convinced try finding an American-made amp similar in price. This is a diamond in the rough.

GK MB 110 Bass Combo

By Keith from Meriden,CT on April 13, 2023 Music Background: Bass Player(12 years) and Drummer(45 years), Professional.

Gallien Krueger makes top notch, professional level amplifiers. The cabinets are well constructed. The speakers are bright and clear. You get the full 100 watts and they are very powerful and always seem louder than their ratings. This amp will easily work at church or restaurant/ pub type gigs. Made in America, as well, not China!
Well worth the wait (since early December)! Now dumped my Fender amps for a 25, 100 and 200 watt GK.
Sweetwater customer service, great as usual (Janis Spundi)! Highly recommend both Sweetwater and Gallien- Krueger!

Wow!!

By Ron from Bay Are on April 22, 2022 Music Background: longtime guitarist/vocalist

What amazing, clear, well defined sound from such a relatively small, and amazingly light (21 lbs) bass amp. Clean and a delight.

Gallien-Krueger MB110

By Cliff Howell on February 16, 2022 Music Background: semi pro bass player since 1964.

I have been using Gallien- Krueger bass amps for 20 years. I needed a small amp to take to band practice so I bought an MB 110 about a month ago. It is everything I hoped for. It is light and portable and sounds much better than my 10 year old MB 210. The sound quality is as good as my 2 700RBs.It has a direct out so you could mic it on a large gig and not have to take your big rig. It's great !!

Finally a 1x10 Bass Combo that sounds good!

By CB from LB, NY on November 29, 2021 Music Background: Semi Pro

This GK combo does the job in that it actually sounds good without distorting or sounding weak and nasal like every other similar unit on the market besides the Amp One which costs $!
It's more expensive than other amps in this class, but
for me saving a few bucks and getting a crappy sound while practicing or writing bass lines is pointless.
If you've been having trouble finding an affordable combo for small gigs, rehearsals or practice this is the way to go.

Great bang for the buck

Can't really complain about anything with this amp, great sound, a ton of options, and is light + portable.

Best purchase ever

By Rick from NJ on August 22, 2021 Music Background: Weekend Gigger

I bought this amp in 2019 and I also bought the 112 chain cabinet. I rarely bring the extra cabinet out. This little monster can handle a wide range of venues. The sound of this amp is amazing. I love the look on people's faces when I show up with this tiny thing, but after the first song they get it. Anyway, I put mine through it's paces and it consistently gets the job done. You won't be disappointed.

G.K. MB 110

By Jim Fielder on May 20, 2021 Music Background: Zappa, Buffalo Springfield, B.S.& T., Neil Sedaka

This amp is perfect for me in pubs, rehearsal, studio, and home practice. If the venue is a large hall I just use the slr out to go direct to the sound system and the amp becomes my personal monitor. This is the second one I have owned and I'm delighted to have my old friend again. Oh yeah, and it's light enough for an old fart like me to schlep one handed.

Great amp, small package!

By Greg on December 23, 2020

Needed a small practice amp for the house and the GK was perfect. Any live playing I do goes directly to the board, so no longer a need for a big heavy rig. This amp actually sounds like something a lot larger. Has plenty of power and with the aux in and headphone jacks, no one knows when I'm practicing.

I finally pulled the trigger!!!

By Sweetwater Customer on October 17, 2020 Music Background: Long time Hobbyist

I've been wanting one of these for a practice amp for so long. I tried the similar sized usual name brands. Even bought the Ampeg 110 because it was less $. It stopped working after a year. Anyway... Yes the GK MB 110 costs a bit more. But it's WELL worth it. The sound is so much richer and tighter than any other practice amp I've played through. So small and light too. I find myself taking it back and forth from the living room to the bedroom.. just to play some more... just to hear that sound. And thank you so much Joe. You're always so helpful. And definitely know yer stuff!!!!

Great amp and great customer service from Chris

Perfect Sweetwater combination! First rate equipment and service. From a repeat customer.

Great amp

By William from Spokane WA on July 12, 2020 Music Background: Returning musician.

What a great amp. Clean crisp sound with nice neat low end. Nothing to dislike. It's lightweight and sounds great. Worth the extra penny over its competitors

Big sound from a small amp

By Ron from FL on July 4, 2020

I like the quality sound from such a small lightweight amp. It can get very loud in the house. I'm sure it will do well at small venues. I also like the fact that it is made in the USA.

This lil firecracker hits like dynamite!

By Sweetwater Customer on February 27, 2020 Music Background: Pro bassist 40 years experience

I went into a local store with my bass and tried out a bunch of small amps. This thing had the power and headroom of the bigger amps. Great 4 band eq: treble, hi mid, lo mid, bass which can be used in "contour" mode or separately. Handles my low B a little too well but dial the bass off a lil and all set. You can run this DI out and has a chain out to another GK mbp self powered cab extension, up to 3 more extensions actually. This lil amp handles itself well in small venues, rehearsals with 2 guitars and a mic'd drumset. Bigger venues and I'll run it with a 200w 12 or 15 mbp. Hell I could run 2 200w mbp and use this as a monitor if need be. Super light, packs a big punch, great tone. I'm retiring my Hartke ha5500 with sansamp rbi rack and the 15, 4x10 cabs. Saves space and a lot easier on my back!

Great sound and surprising power in a small, light package

By James L Montgomery from CA on November 8, 2019 Music Background: trumpet player, band director

When I picked up the box with the GK amp in it, my heart sank a little. How could this be a good amp, if it was so light? Then I plugged it in to my Fender Jazz Bass. Unbelievable! Great tone, solid workmanship throughout, lots of power (way more than my older amp that is twice as big and twice as heavy). And it's light! My students love it, too--easy to move in and out of the rehearsal room, easy to load on the band truck. Love it. I'm now a GK fan.

Best Bass Amp EVER!!!

By Joshua D from Rome on February 27, 2019 Music Background: Hobbyist

I bought this during a recent financing promotion during which I picked up a stellar bass but had nothing to play it through. I was going to go with another manufacturer but my sales engineer highly recommended this amp. At 1/3rd the size of a mini fridge I am getting amazing tone shaping, finding tones I like for the music I play and the clarity!!! When I hit my low B I both hear and FEEL it!!! This little ( in size, not tone) amp rocks my socks off!!!

Power packed runt

Way bigger sound than imagined. So light and manageable. Lots of features. Bargain.

Great sound

By John Quiocho from Hawaii on December 20, 2016

Best little speaker ever. Like the sound, volume is loudly, my kids are telling me too loud. Practice sessions are fun now since l got my GK MB110 Amp, out here in Honolulu, less than a week, when I ordered it. Thank you, Sweetwater.

Gotta love this unit

By Big Band Bass from Missoula MT on December 5, 2016 Music Background: Retired music educator

Fantastic, clean, clear bass tone. I'm playing in a Big Band and it has plenty of power to support the horns. It's light weight makes it easy to take to rehearsals and gigs. This was a great buy for me.

Sweetwater-What's RIght With The World

By Samuel Hensley from TX on September 8, 2016

This amp is so light and portable, amazing. Fits in tiny areas. But the real reason I'm posting this is because of Sweetwater. When I first ordered this amp, I had TERRIBLE problems with the shipping and delivery. But Steven Chamoun, my amazing sales engineer, kept checking in with me, and kept me informed of what was going on. And he fixed it. I now his this amazing amp. Thank you Steven and Sweetwater, your customer service is what's right with the world

Awesome Kick-Butt GK!

By Edward Halterman from El Segundo, CA on January 18, 2016

Very surprised by this little devil. Nice tone; great recording possibilities for mic and DI. Really enjoyed this beauty!

The MB110 is a great little combo amp

By Sweetwater Customer on October 18, 2021

I've been very happy with this amp. It's super light, and has great tone, bottom-end, and punch at small room volumes. The "Direct Out" works fine, but the signal isn't super strong like a good DI would be, however it's definitely functional. The 4-band EQ makes it easy to tweak your tone with small adjustments. I guess you could say that I "traded down" to get this amp since I sold a 300-watt Boogie Walkabout Scout to get it, but I couldn't be happier... better tone at a volume that is usable for me, and about 30+ pounds lighter! My only complaints are that GK doesn't provide even a cheap little vinyl dust cover with the amp, and it seems like the speaker grill could be higher quality, but those are minor nits that don't detract too much from its other qualities.

pro quality practice amp

By AC from So Cali on February 5, 2019 Music Background: metal, punk, country western

Portable GK tones..classic analog RB series preamp/digital power amp goes from vintage/dub to strident transparency... can handle B string..tip: if you get hiss through headphones try a different set otherwise no issues..bonus:fast Sweetwater service

Almost perfect

By Corb from Alabama on July 31, 2018

Bought this as my first bass amp with the idea of eventually upgrading. Haven't needed to upgrade. I tried the 2x10 version and found it noisy (fan hiss) and not worth the extra cash. For most of my needs, this little box has served me well. Plenty of power, plus you have the DI and Chain Out. I usually run in-ears with the DI going to the board. Having this on stage gives me just enough thump to feel the bass without overpowering everyone else on top of the PAs putting out the full sound. This thing is easy to move, completely silent when not actively in use. While it can't produce the boneshaking super lows you might get from a 15", the 10" does well. GK says you can only chain out to a GK MBP, but I've hooked this thing up to my Bose F1 sub or my QSC K10s when I needed extra thump and I can get the aforementioned boneshaking lows. It says 100 watts, but it feels more powerful than that. I wish GK would come out with a powered 1x10 just so you could turn this into a legit 2x10.

My only complaint is the aux in is kinda subpar. Seems like the amp can't really handle the stereo signal and the bass input without a lot of static. Not a big deal as I don't use it often, but if it's going to be there, it should work better.

Love This Amp!

By Sweetwater Customer on March 11, 2018

I picked one of these up to use for bass guitar in the church band. The sound that comes out of this amp is amazing considering the extremely small package. I mainly play acoustic guitar and decided to plug in to this bass amp to check it out. BONUS! This amp also works very well for acoustic guitar.

Great Bass Amp

By Ronald from College Station, Texas on August 14, 2015 Music Background: Jazz, bluegrass, Americana, whatever...

I've played a handful of gigs now with this new bass amp and I'm very pleased with my purchase decision. I'm using this amp with my upright bass with a K&K pickup and now WITHOUT a preamp that I've been using prior to owning this amp. I used it on a rocking gospel number in our large 800 seat church and the line out was great to have to feed into the church's mains. I've also used it with my stringband that does jazz standards, western swing, and a blues mix at a local eatery bi-monthly gig and it just sounds great. It's so light that my wife can carry it while I tote the bass around. I did spend considerable time comparing amps, and the features and price of this amp sold me. It does not replicate an 'authentic double bass sound' but that's not crucial for my style... I just need a solid bass presence and this amp delivers.

Great Amp!!!

By Sweetwater Customer on March 5, 2019

It's a great amp and it may just be the one I have but when I dig in to my bass, even at low volume there's some unwanted tone distortion. Don't discount this amp though, it may just be the one I have, there's bound to be conflict sometimes but other than that this amp perfectly replicates my tone the way I like it, it has given me new dimension and new tones to explore with the contour switch and 4 band EQ. This amp is brilliant and for my opinion, it could just be ghosts in the machine (technological disruptions) but I gave it 4 stars for all the things it does well!!!

Great portable practice amp

By Sweetwater Customer on January 15, 2019

I bought this to replace my 1990 GK MB200. If you desire a portable practice amp, you will not be disappointed. It is compact and easy to carry. I have played four different basses through it, a vintage P bass, a fretless bass with active pickups and electronics, an active fretted bass, and an electric upright. The four band EQ and contour switch allow you to coax the tone you want from your basses. The amp really shines with a P bass with flatwounds on it. You can also get a good growl of a bass with round wound strings. The amp has adequate power and tone to do a small gig. However, if you plan to use it with an electric upright, the 10" speaker is too small for gigging. I would recommend the GK MB112, which is a proven performer.

cannot hold it's own in a band setting

By William Zyrkowski from Naples Florida on March 15, 2024 Music Background: professional musician

Very disappointing when on stage, I doubt it is 100 watts of power. bass is very thin. it lacks a solid low and at times distorts.for the price it is a disappointment.

nothing more than mediocre

By Sweetwater Customer on November 10, 2023

I bought this combo amp in 2016 from Sweetwater for $299, and would not pay a penny more today. There is no way that GK's MSRP should be $650. I also do not believe this is Solid State amplification. Based on its light weight, which is pretty much it's most redeeming quality, it is more likely Class D. I could be wrong. Unfortunately there is no specification regarding this in either the owner's manual, the GK website, or on the amplifier itself. I have seen it advertised in other retailers' websites as being Class D. For the price I'm paid, I'm satisfied. If I were to shell out $650 for it, I would be beyond disappointed
