Great board!

By Sweetwater Customer

This board has nice sound quality and all the features you would expect. If you want an easier interface, there are pricier options with touch screen ability, but for the price you pay, you are getting a a very good product here.

Just what I needed

By Jeffrey F. from Elizabethtown, PA

Legendary Midas console made a pro-Summer mixer that has a ton of features. I haven't ran across anything that this mixer can't do. Laid out nicely, easy to function and with the scene recall, it makes it easy for different combinations of equipment and bands on the fly. I use the ultranet with my Turbosound iQ speakers and it is seamless and makes my life a lot easier in configuration of monitors, mains and the PD48 personal mixer. Love it and would highly recommend this console.

Just what I needed

Very flexible, laid out well. fast editing and compact for all that it has in it. I went from a huge analog board and three full 16U racks to only this. Love it.

Midas M32 for Studio and Performance Hall

By Eddie H. from Fine Arts Center/Greenville, SC
Music Background: Recording/Producer Engineer since 1977

It was time to replace my old 2007 digital mixer in the Control Room, so after careful consideration, I went with the Midas M32. I spent 20 years on a Neve 8058, so I was never happy with any digital console until the M32. Sure I would love to have another Neve 80 series sitting there, but in an educational environment, it's just not affordable. Everything about the M32 is intuitive, friendly, right where you would expect it to be. There's a slight learning curve on the initial programming/setting up, but I found a young guru online in Canada, Daniel that lays it out for you. I also just installed another M32 in our Performance Hall here at the FineArtsCenter.net and it works perfectly, even my Recording Arts Students with very little live sound experience can get around on it for mixing live concerts.

Great quality at this price point

By Ashton B.

The midas M32 has been an amazing and reliable desk for me. Soundwise it sounds much more warmer than it's brother the x32 it's build quality is very rugid and the effects are somewhat solid and can acatlly be very good if you ess around with the settings. Functionality wise on this board i really like the way they have it layed out my only critique is that the routing can be very annoying at times especially if you have to make changes very fast, but if you know the board good you should have zero problems. Yes this board isn't that hard to max out but every console has it's limitations unless you have a digico or something! Overall very satisfied with this console. I would go ahead and buy the midas m32 if you are in this price range!

Dear Mr Fidley....

By Dave from Minneapolis
Music Background: more than 30 years, running/installing/teaching/training

First of all, I want to say I use this board where we have a house mix while we are pulling 24 channels for live recording while we have a SECOND operator controlling it via a pc to get a mix for streaming that needs to be WAY different then the house mix.

I dont think I would want to use this as a 'Professional' Studio grade board for reasons that have already been mentioned.

Having said that for live performances it does work rather well, selecting a channel to work on and then adjusting it, most of those things can be accessed with a single button press - the Eq, compression and the like are on the front panel.
Soooo how do you get significantly faster?
Of course it does help to RTFM.

We make use of the variety of input and output options as we have signals coming from the stage, video playback and other media sources. It seems to be pretty well thought out.
I've used 40 channel analog boards and I'll take this any day, several different digital input/output options are a godsend to us. the analog section seems to be quite resonable.
I suppose if one looks hard and wants to pay more you could find a better board but then again as someone once told me, "In this industry, you are either good enough or you aren't".
For everything I've thrown at this board its good enough.

Good for what it is.

By Joseph F. from LaFollette, TN
Music Background: Studio owner & Musician

Great board for what it is advertised for "Live sound". I got this board for my studio (not a good choice) wish I had done more research before I bought it (my bad). It's great if you want to make a quick demo or live recording but the limitation of only being able to either record or play back makes it not worth much in a "Real" studio. You can not play back and do punch in's!

However if you are using it for house of worship or live gigs it's flexibility in that environment is fantastic.

Hope this helps someone.

Bought it for a Texas Dancehall

By Russell K. from Austin, TX
Music Background: Electical and Audio Engineer previously doing audio amplifier design. Find me on DIY Audio.

As the resident sound tech, I replaced an A&H Zed36 with this, because I was tired of the analog circuitry muddying up the sound. I wanted better control of the stage monitors for squelching feedback quickly. I wanted better control of the signals being sent to mains and subs. I chose the M32 because of the wealth of videos put out by church sound techs on how to do pretty much everything with it. A Texas dancehall is like a church, right?

Right away, the sound was much clearer. There's only two bits of analog circuity in each channel's path: the A/D at the mic input and the D/A at the PA outputs. I can easily add delay to each channel to be in sync with the PA speakers. I can control the delay between subs and mains. I can fully control the crossover between sub and mains, including limiters to protect the PA speakers from overdrive. Some of my DJ's were real bass-head idiots, so that's necessary. Can even triamp with plenty of outputs and matrixing, though I never did that.

After a week, I mastered compression on it. After 2 months I had figured out good reverb for vocals and acoustic instruments. Added a DL32 a half-year later, so mics don't have to drive 150' of cable. Don't run an analog snake, if you can avoid it. Sound was never anything but pure. 24-bit digital has no "digital sound." The mic preamps on this thing are very clean.

I don't have experience with other digital mixers, but after this one, I think I could figure them out quickly. Some of the steps to do various functions require a few too many button presses, so I think other mixers might be nicer. Hence the 4 stars, instead of five. I left the dancehall, but I kept the M32.

Bang for your buck!

By K. P. from Nashville, TN

This is a great entry level mixer for Live audio mixing/touring. You will not find another mixer at this price range that is better. The M32 has proven to be a work horse over the years and continues to thrive in the market today.

The most important characteristics are included

By herb from Nashville
Music Background: Life long

From my start as a guitarist in a fairly popular quartet, which included 4 sessions in a recording studio, which went to 'vinyl'; I decided to focus on the beautiful art of recording.

I've worked on many, many different grades, types of consoles, or mixers.

The most important thing to remember is; 'are the preamps good?'

The M32 is composed of the best from Midas and does not have the x32 pre's, which other companies want u tho think.

I love my M32, but you can investigate on your own, and come to your own conclusion.

Amazing Console

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Lifetime Musician/Growing Engineer

For starters, I'm reviewing to bring up from the 1 star review, mainly because this console deserves 5 stars. If it is difficult to use, I can't wait to run into one of the easy to use consoles, because I've had great success with navigating after watching a few "how to" videos. I came from all analog mixers and was kinda forced into the digital aspect with the Behringer model. The church I'm at had a 10 year old x32 that was hit by lightning some years back and had a couple quirks from that event. Still worked though, in fact we plan to change it over to our live feed board at some point. We purchased the M32 for 2023, and wow. I will say, the preamps and the more solid infrastructure of this unit makes it worth the upgrade from the x32. I have found it fairly easy to navigate once I learned the ins and outs, as I imagine would be the case with any digital mixer. I invested 20 hours or so building a startup scene from scratch, and worked from there. That includes our routing (we have a stage box for channels 12-32, the rest is done at the console), creating 10 monitor mixes, a live feed mix, and a mix going to the hallway speakers. This is an incredibly capable mixer with a usable platform. I was frustrated only with the fact I could not lock people out of the settings and channel settings (eq, gain, comp, etc.) but I found a way around that with the snippets. I like the fact that I can undo any changes that someone may have made that are unfavorable mid song/mid set without affecting people on the platform. This is a great mixer, if you're thinking about it, get it. It's worth it!

Still using today in my commercial studio. (5 Years)

By Jay A. from Hickory, NC
Music Background: Recording Studio Owner/Operator

Purchased this unit and the digital rack in 2017. Use it almost every day. It is perfect for my studio never had any issues with it. Had a short term learning curve but once I setup all of my scenes/templates transitions from one client to the next is very easy. I have the console in my control room (duh) and the DL32 in my live room with floor snake attached for drum room guitars/keys etc.. and vocals for the booth and headphone amp/array. I use it with Presonus Studio One pro and the USB interface is flawless. Use to have a A&H QU-16 which was ok in the studio but I use it now with my live band (better fit).

Great board for live sound

By TC from Dallas, Texas
Music Background: Former studio engineer, long-time guitar player, mixing and mastering

I purchased two of these - one for church and one for a rock performance space - and have been working with them for over a year now. I came of age working on analog boards in a studio and live so there was definitely a learning curve but you can get up & running very quickly. After a year the top features in my mind are: 1. excellent sound quality and dynamic range - the Midas pre's sound great 2. reliability- have not had an issue with either board 3. iPad control is rock-solid 4. multitrack recordings are high quality for subsequent mixing and mastering 5. Dante networking is excellent (with the added card) 6. number of bus sends and matrix sends - makes the board extremely flexible and useable 7. ergonomics and design - the faders are silky smooth and there are multiple ways to access what you need quickly. This is simply a great live sound board.

This board is amazing!

By Nick from Maryland
Music Background: Rock/Metal

All in one. I can't say It enough. I had (2) 24 channel boards & to large rolling racks of gear. Goodbye 2004 & Hello to the future. Now I can use my iPad & can get great sounds real quick, make adjustments on the fly & setup monitor mixes real easy. I would also say you could take a blanket off my old sound system to the new for sound quality. This is 100% the buy for anyone looking to get a pro level sound & save. Time & money in the long run. What a great purchase. Enjoy!

Phenomenal Mixer for PA & Broadcast

By Sweetwater Customer

I've mixed on this console in a variety of venues, and I've loved it. The preamps sound lovely and mixing is effortless. Setup is way easier if you connect it to an iPad via the network. Some menus are easier to use on the console and some are easier on a tablet, so having both options will make it way easier to work with.

When I see these in the field, I cry.

By Scott F. from Los Angeles
Music Background: 20+ years as a live TV mixer

Does the M32 pack a rediculious ammount of features into an affordable digital console? Yes. Do the Midas preamps actually sounds pretty darn good? Also yes. The problem is trying to USE any of these features - especially during a live production is an obstical course of traps, and nested menus. Nothing is intuitive. The rotory-encoder / GUI is insanity - how many times have you inadvertantly changed an eq band to a lowpass filter, operators? - important features are buried in nested menus, routing is terrible, channel-strip layout is cumbersome and unflexible (yes, I do know you can arrange user sets in the PC/Mac software) and the IOS app is limited in the scope of what it can do and is outdated.

The LAST thing I want to see when I show up at a job is one of these, or the behringer varient. This is the problem with these 'does it all!' affordable compact digital consoles. Too many features that are not realistic to dial in when youre live... They are intended to be live a large majority of the time, not good.

Great Console!

By Nick T.
Music Background: Sound designer

We use this console at our church. It's a great console. Everything feels really really smooth. Coming from a Yamaha console it's a little hard to get around but it took me 30 minutes just sitting down and programming it to really learn it. The pre-amps sound REALLY good.
The ONLY thing that I would like to have is a touch screen. But it's not too bad. For the price you can't beat this console. It will do everything you need and more. I am definitely a fan and I definitely recommend this.

Exactly what I was looking for for my home studio!

By Sweetwater Customer

I recently decided to upgrade my mixer to the Midas M32. I wanted better preamps, more channels, a studio quality console without spending
$50k, and overall more control over my DAW in my home studio. What I got with the Midas was pristine sound quality, DAW control and superior options for just about anything I can think of for recording live instruments and vocals. There are a lot of options out there, but I am familiar with the M/X32 platform and OS so it was an easier choice. The build quality of this board is really something special. The faders are quick and responsive and everything feels really solid. I'm really only beginning to explore this beast in its entirety, but I hope it remains my studio centerpiece for years to come! Thanks to my friends at Sweetwater for helping me make this happen!
