MXR M296 Classic 108 Fuzz Mini Pedal Reviews

Mini Fuzz Pedal with Output, Fuzz, and Buffer Controls

The Classic 108 Fuzz Mini packs vintage fuzz tones into a pedalboard-friendly MXR mini housing. Plug in and saturate your guitar's tone with a round, dirty crunch reminiscent of a classic Fuzz Face, courtesy of a silicon BC-108 transistor. Dialing in your sound is easy — just crank the Output and Fuzz knobs on the Classic 108 Mini's no-nonsense interface and start jamming. You also get a Buffer switch that eliminates the high-frequency suck and oscillation caused by some wah pedals. The MXR Classic 108 Fuzz Mini features true bypass switching and can be powered by a 9-volt power adapter (sold separately).

MXR Classic 108 Fuzz Mini

Great sounding pedal on my bass. Fits nicely on small pedalboard. The Buffer button gives more flexibility to dial in just the right amount of grit!

This Little Pedal Is Money

I had a Dunlop Fuzz Face Mini on my board and liked it but read about this little guy with the buffer....what a game changer. Now on my board (The dunlop is for sale) my tone has a a killer kick with a little fuzz (12-15%?) and heavy output, and the buffer on keeps it crisp...less dark. This is now my go to for boosting solos behind over drives for 70s and 80s rock. Just love this thing!

Review MXR M296 Classic 108 Fuzz Mini Pedal

By Denden from New York on October 16, 2018

This pedal packs a knockout punch....seriously. I use it for a little boost on any distortion that I'm using and it beefs it up exponentially without any unwanted noises or feedback. It is as advertised - A Classic.

Great Fuzz for the price

By Sweetwater Customer on April 11, 2024

Its a great fuzz pedal, and it plays well with Wahs with the buffer. Between the range on the pedal and volume on your guitar there's a huge range of sound available. Nothing to complain about. I didn't give it a full 5 stars because I don't believe in perfection...there's always room to improve. But this is a really good little pedal.

A pedal board friendly fuzz face

Works great, sounds great, fits on the board. The only issue I have is that the buffer LED is blindingly bright.

BC 108 Fuzz

By William from Eastern Shore on March 29, 2023 Music Background: Semi pro

Sweet little pedal. The amount of fuzz you can get is greater then what's on tap with an original fuzz face. This pedal is really just a Dunlop Hendrix Fuzz with a buffer. Buffer works well. Added treble when in gauge Classic looks, the finish is textured! Will clean up with lower volume on your guitar. A pleasure if your in need of a solid fuzz for cheap with little space on your board. Buffer is a plus.

Little box or Big box ?

By Sweetwater Customer on May 2, 2021

I've gone small this time . The big version had a great sound , I was never happy with the in/out location . The small version sounds great and fits my board better .

Great Fuzz

First fuzz - great choice

By Mark Deutschlander from Canandaigua, NY on March 1, 2021 Music Background: hobbyist

This is my first time purchasing a fuzz pedal. I wanted to try something that didn't take up too much pedal board space and didn't break my bank. I own other MXR pedals and I've been happy with them all. One thing that drew me to this pedal was the input buffer. I wanted a classic silicone fuzz that would "play nice" with my envelope filter before it (I own a Keeley Neutrino v1). This little fuzz box is great! I gave it a 4 out of 5 simply because I have not tried other fuzz pedals and can't compare it. The buffer works just as described. With it on, my envelope filter sounds perfect (great "wahed" out Hendrixy sounds). If I disengage the buffer, the filter gets insane and sputtery (which can be fun too). I actually prefer the pedal overall buffered (even without the envelope filter) and its stacks well with my overdrives (a MXR Timmy and a Keeley Super Phat Mod). With the buffer engaged the fuzz is a little brighter and works well with my set up. Bottom line is this pedal is a great, little, flexible fuzz and takes up little pedal board space. And its based on the JH fuzz face. You can't beat that! The price tag makes it really makes it easy to add one to your Sweetwater order.
