This no-frills 4-string Firestarter sports a Macassar ebony fingerboard with a 15.75-inch radius, great for thundering lows with tremendous character. Sweetwater’s bass buffs appreciate the active Fishman Fluence SB-1 humbucking pickups for their push-pull single-coil modes, offering deceptively versatile voicing to hone your tone. While it’s crafted to rock, this LTD Deluxe bass will be right at home with whatever grooves you throw at it.

WTF is this?

By Josh Gibson from Lehi, UT on April 15, 2024

So I bought this for myself back in early February. What sold me on it were the Fishman Fluence pickups. I really wanted a bass with those already in it. I recognize I had a few options, however, many people praise ESP and I had yet to own one. This bass was great for the first month and a half. Unfortunately, it started clipping badly and sounded very distorted. I decided I'd pop off some covers and see what was going on after I plugged my Spector into the same rig and I didn't have any clipping. The main cover on the back was nearly impossible to remove, it was screwed on while the paint was still wet (as you can see in the picture). I had to shave down an old credit card to be thin enough to get under to remove the plate. The inspection signature on the guitar is signed "C+". I suppose C+ is still a passing grade, however, pretty ****. All of the wiring was wadded up and zip-tied so tightly that I couldn't even remove the battery for the pickups without wrestling with it for 10 minutes. None of the electrical components had 1mm of give in the wiring. Now, I have to pay a luthier to go through it and likely redo all of the soldering. Definitely should not have to deal with this on such a young guitar. This is the first and FINAL ESP I'll ever own. If you're considering purchasing one of these, do yourself a favor and just don't. ESP, do better.
