Solidbody Baritone Electric Guitar with Plywood Body, Hardboard Top and Back, Maple Neck, Pau Ferro Fingerboard, and 2 Single-coil Pickups - Copper Burst

Plywood bodies, lipstick tube pickups, and chicken-head concentric knobs: Danelectro isn't a brand that’s known for playing it safe. Even still, the Longhorn Baritone’s blend of rustic country charm and retro-futurism is just as wild today as it was when the guitar was first released in the ’50s! This bass-meets-guitar design sports a hybrid 29.72-inch scale length — which sits between a standard baritone and a short-scale bass — to cover the deep-sounding B–B range. The Longhorn Baritone’s tonal depth comes out loud and clear through a pair of Danelectro’s legendary high impedance Lipstick pickups, gracing the extended range growl with a touch of chime and jangle. Finally, this Dano’s open and airy tone comes courtesy of its semi-hollow plywood frame, topped with composite hardboard — faithful to the original department-store charm of the original Danelectros!

Fun and Unique Guitar

By Trey C. from Winnsboro, TX
Music Background: Experienced Novice

I had wanted a baritone and specifically a Danelectro for a while. This guitar is great and find myself reaching for it more and more often over my regular guitars, or when I'm using my looper I will use it as a bass or the lead instrument. Tremolo and fuzz sound amazing. I also play with some guys where we mostly play bluegrass, old country and gospel and I exclusively take this because it fills in the bass parts but I'm also able to play guitar parts. The shape is unique but it's not uncomfortable, it hangs well on a strap and is easy to use sitting down. The longer scale makes bridge muting a little bit of a stretch but it's just different until you get used to it. One review I read online one review that felt the pickups were too hot, I disagree, if anything they could be a little hotter, so maybe a new set of lipsticks are in the future. I would certainly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a baritone at a decent price.

My 3rd Dano bari

By Mike from VT

I moved from bass to guitar awhile ago, and baritone 5 years ago. My first of 7 baris was the black U56, and I finally felt at home with an instrument.

The vibe of this guitar is so unique. It plays like a dream, with a great neck and top fret access. It's extremely well built, which is the Dano standard. I was worried about the lack of a pickup switch, but the separate tone/volume knobs inspired me beyond what I woulda done with a switch. I woulda ended up doing a volume toggle, instead of dialing in both at once. Also, the Evets Danelectro reissues' bridge is possibly the most reliable and intonation-friendly bridge I've ever played. Like a tune-o-matic with the solidity of a Tele.

Excellent guitar all around, with consistent quality and inspiration by the oodles.
