These work great and were a nice upgrade from the Prodipe Ribbon 8 monitors I've used since 2010. I calibrated them with ARC Studio and they sound amazing. Very detailed.

These are excellent monitors and an incredible bargain. I have them connected to a sub and calibrated with ARC Studio / ARC X. They are a nice step up from the Prodipe Ribbon 8's I have been using for the past 15 years (and they cost the same as I paid for those in 2010 since I caught them on sale). As usual from Sweetwater, they came package extremely well.

I bought these to use with my edrums. They work really well. I have a high end speaker in my control room and decided to see how these compare. They are nice speakers that translate pretty well for mixes. I do recommend these. Very good for the dough.

For a studio monitor of it's size, this thing is really lacking in the low end. I think my 5" Samson StudioDock speakers have more low end than this. Highs are VERY clear - almost harsh sounding. JBL detailed sound and build quailty, however still make it a respectable speaker. If you want low end though, go grab a Presonus or something.

I've owned these monitors for about 4 years. They have been continuously. They are well built. Very sturdy and high quality for the price. I have used them basically as both for just listening to music and for mixing. I like the response and sound a lot. These are hard to beat for the price. Highly recommended.

I might note that I also have some Yamaha monitors. When mixing, I use both these JBL's and the Yamaha's. The JBL's just have a sound that I actually like better than the Yamaha's, and they cost much less. That's just my experience.

Definitley happy with this purchase! Much better and louder than my previous 3 inch monitors. The clarity is shocking in comparison. They are sleek looking too. would definitley reccomend these monitors for any home studio!

Incredible bass response and JBL quality!!

Good sound at a reasonable price.

When you play these, you think it was a price mistake. I use them with the JBL 10 inch sub woofer. Use a headphone multi adapter can really crank it up play my drums to it no problem. Its a good deal.

I was surprised how refined this speaker monitor set is as I have always had combinations of Yamaha and JBL nearfields for my studio work. The clarity, substantial low end and stereo imaging are the best yet. I am thrilled with this purchase. And at the current sale price, they are a steal.

These monitors from JBL sound fantastic, my mixes were translating immediately as soon as I started using them. I love flat response monitors and that is exactly what these sound like, just right! The high frequency wave guide gives them a wonderful huge sweet spot. When I want big bass I turn on my subwoofer but most of the time I leave it off because these monitors sound so good all by themselves.

I bought these for a home studio. I've been mixing with a good set of headphones but wanted something that could double as a casual listening and mastering speaker.
First things first: These are better than my JBL LX 44s for casual listening. I am hearing details that I never knew existed. You can hear background noise in the studio in songs that I've been listening to for 40 years. It's crazy. Sometimes it makes me turn the music down because I think my dog is getting into something LOL
The downside is that songs that are poorly mastered will sound pretty bad on these! Thankfully that is a small percentage of the music I listen to.
They are PLENTY loud for my 15x15 ish spare bedroom. If I turn them up half way they fill the (1800 sq ft) house and if I turn them up all the way you can hear them from the patio room.
If these came in white I'd get a set for the living room to upgrade my wife's soundbar. But alas...
I'm sure there must be better speakers out there but it's hard for me to believe that using these is a true disadvantage.
Especially at this price point. Completely satisfied and then some.

I purchased a pair several years ago to use at my church. Through them I play my virtual pipe organ on Sundays that we don't have an organist. Pipe organ sounds are very demanding to reproduce, but in concert with my subwoofer, these speakers deliver lifelike volumes without breaking a sweat. Yes, I can hear the faint idle noise up close, but in my church environment with the speakers in the balcony, it's totally inaudible from the pews below. I like these enough that I just purchased the 305P MkII's to use when my choir sings with backing tracks that I create. Highly recommended.

They are more quiet than I thought. When working, I tend to keep volume low to attempt to reduce ear fatigue, but they still bump when I want. The clarity and accuracy from mediums (cars, Bluetooth speakers, to ear buds) is on point! People complain about hiss, but that's what you get when you put it on 11! I go between 50%-65% and they are silent. Freaking love them.

These studio monitors deliver amazing sound. Clear, crisp highs, natural midrange & tight bass. No coloration at all.

I connect these speakers to the Scarlett Solo with the balanced cables. No noise that I can hear. The speakers sound great. The speakers have enough bass for music. A little more bass is better with an addition of a subwoofer.

Been watching these for a while due to the cost, but that was a mistake. With the money I've spent on plugins, software, the perfect signal processor, I could have bought 8 of these and saved a lot more money. Do yourself a favor and listen to what sounds you have before you process them. The frequency response on these is beyond anything I've ever heard. I produce EDM, the low end at 20-30hz is actually present in these babies, unreal. I have the ATX50s and they feel like amateur hour next to this response. If I had to complain, it would be that I did not check the size measurements before ordering, they are a little bigger than the space on my desk, but I can adjust without issue. JBL, there is a reason you know those initials.

I've had these babies for almost 6 years. Such a great system when paired with the sub. Make sure you have appropriate absorption for your room though. I used to think they were bassy but after some changes in my acoustic treatment, they sound great. I always check my work with headphones though just to have another source of reference, but definitely worth the money. The sub is just as good.

They are a really good pair of studio monitors with amazing bass and insane clarity at all volumes. The only thing is that these are a bit bass heavy but that is probably because of my room and was very easy to fix with the boundary EQ. I would highly recommend putting these on stands or on isolation pads preferably at ear level. But other than that I would say these a great option for a first pair of studio monitors.

If you are driving this monitor with computer output, for critical listening, DAW, or video editing:

The P308 monitor is configured for balanced input, which is NOT the standard for computer's stereo headphone output. If you
feed in such an unbalanced signal, there will be digital switching noise picked up, and it comes out at an annoying 45dB. I consulted with a JBL tech advisor, and was able to solve this by using a USB audio-output D-A converter and compatible balanced cable(S):

1) Peavey USB-P DI/Format Converter (stereo or mono, balanced XLR cable output)
2) Hosa XRR-103 (3' cable, right-angle XLR-male connector to monitor) (need 2 for stereo)

Now that I'm using USB audio output and balanced signal cables, I'm getting the excellent-quality, reference monitor playback on my iMac computer desktop.

Nice warm sound with great imaging at a great price point only complaint is they don't get very loud.

I am deeply impressed by the clean response of these hefty monitors. The only thing I would have done differently is maybe get the 5 inch model -- the 8-inch ones are bigger than I thought! Still, for the price point I am completely satisfied with this monitor. Would def recommended.

I've had these monitors for a few months now. They have not let me down. I have had krk's & mackies & the jbl's definitely have a clean sound. Great sound at a good price. I dj and record my mixes with them. I am very specific & critical about a clean mix & I feel as tho these jbl's fit well in my studio.

These Are the first pair of studio monitors I've ever purchased and they are fabulous. Crisp highs and very clean bass. Never had any others to compare but I would definitely recommend these speakers for studio mixing and listening!

I started with a laptop and speakers I purchased from a thrift shop. It was my 1st recording experience and I was astatic but I soon learned I was as far from a good recording as from here to another planet. After buying The needed things I needed I realized I really needed good studio monitors so when I purchased my 1st set I was amazed at the change that they offered. after a year I started having various issue with my monitor and soon had enough and through research I decided to try the JBL brand. Wow!!! what a difference in quality and detail and I didn't spend much more than I did for the 1st. I haven't had a chance to try many other brands but This JBL308P is solving more of my previous issues and I'd recommend them to anyone, especially those who're on a tight budget.

After researching studio monitors, I settled in on these. Man, I am so happy I did! Running a home studio, I try to purchase things that have more than one benefit. So, I didn't want to get into playback monitors, mixing monitors, mastering etc...etc..These monitors have given me all of that. Quality build/construction. Sweet highs with top studio monitor's flat sound. The range is amazing. A general understanding of monitor placement allows you to place these monitors away from you and still give you the quality you need. My studio is a mid size room, with strategically placed wall foam, nothing professionally done or high tech. Lol. The sound is amazing. I would definitely recommend these studio monitors. These things are amazing!! The sound quality is amazing and comparable to monitors at a much higher price point. Very defined highs, mids, and lows. Everyone that has heard these in my studio love them. They cannot believe the sound that they produce for such a great price. I highly recommend these for any type of studio.

I purchased a set of 305s that sounded great so I decided to buy a set of 308s for mixing at higher levels. What a disappointment!, I didn't get to test them out before the 30 day return policy ran out. So now JBL says there is nothing they can do for me. Stay away from JBL products.

Easy to place the order. Remarkably efficient phone follow up from Sweetwater. Product arrived quickly and in good shape as promised. The speakers are set up as a bedroom system with an outboard DAC driving them over balanced cables using a higher performance blue tooth receiver feeding the DAC. I love these powerful speakers.

Very good sounding speakers, especially for the money. If you must have something flatter, go for the Yamaha HS8 but I think you can do great mixes on these. I was concerned by the rear ports since I am close to the walls and can't move the speakers elsewhere. However, the switches provide enough low end roll off so this is not an issue. There is absolutely no hiss as others have reported. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Sounds okay, but they have the loudest idle noise I've ever heard from a studio monitor. Avoid.

got these about a month ago...still getting them broken in...the stereo spectrum is insane...your mix will fill the room...and the sweet spot grows as you move farther away (not get smaller like some monitors)...the clarity has allowed me to EQ and pinpoint parts until they jump out and grab you on mixes...before we mixed anything we chose a setlist of songs to listen to as a starting off point...Pink Floyd's "Shine On, You Crazy Diamond pts 1-5" had little parts coming in and out of the stereo mix that we had never heard..."Red Rain" by Peter Gabriel shone through with different instrumentation in each verse..."Hey Nineteen" by Steely Dan felt like the instruments were in the room...and while Rob Zombie's "Living Dead Girl" pegged the meters, you could hear all the synth frosting and nuggets pop through as they passed by, not just a wall of guitars only anymore...I have to push the mixes a little harder through them to get as loud as my old monitors, but the sound is a thousand times better and loud isn't always better...huge thanks to Robert Williams, my favorite Sweetwater Sales Engineer for the guidance and suggestion...he makes purchasing gear from Sweetwater a pleasure every time...

Got really nothing to complain about the 308P Mkii, actually it is my first actual pair of monitors and they sound like wow. They are extraordinary, the accurate sound that comes out of it, is nothing from this planet. My production just went from 2 to 10 thank to these JBLs. Only thing i noticed is that they sound a little bassier but as I said before they are my fist monitors, adding also the fact that my room isn't really treated yet, sometimes I feel like I'm about to loose a window.

Initially i was going to get the Mackie Mr624, but they were out of stock and my sales engineer suggested i get these JBL 8's instead, assuring me i wouldnt be dissapointed. I decided I would give them a go, and I truly am not disappointed.
I havent experienced any white noise even at high volume even though i run alot of stuff out of limited space. The speakers run from my focusrite 2i2 out of a behringer usb xenyx 2442 plugged into an asus g74x all the while having instruments and appliances all around running from the same general circuit.
So little to say there could be alot to influence the sound, but there is no noise or feedback. I have immediatey fallen for these monitors. The sound is very flat (which is a very good thing for mixing) and very true to the mix. The first thing i played through them was a heavily layered metal track and all parts came through crystal clear.
To me they dont appear cheap, though they do come with 4 tiny pads that stick to the bottom as feet and that does seem very cheap but I will probably never think about them again.
Oh, and another thing that impressed me was how well the low ends cut through without rattling my work station to bits. Dont get me wrong you can clearly hear the low ends but it's so well leveled that it doesnt overpower the mix and cause unnecessary vibrations.
Overall im very happy with these monitors. They seem very sturdy and well built. I definitely will see myself using these for a long, long time. Thanks again to Bob and to Sweetwater!

These were a massive upgrade over my previous pair of non-powered, small monitors. After balancing with the subwoofer and some angling, they sound fantastic.

I really like these monitors, I needed them to be loud and they are more than I need. Running about 75% output, and they sound really good. I recently purchased two of these along with a JBL LSR310S 10" Powered Studio Subwoofer. I am impressed with not only the volume of sound they produce, but the quality of sound as well. Pair these up with the Gator Frameworks GFW-SPK-SM50 Studio Monitor Stands, and you are going to fill your room with incredible sounding audio for an even better price! Thanks again to Aaron Swaidner for his guidance and knowledge on what turned out to be one of the best purchases I have ever made!

Well balanced and powerful speakers for the price. Picked them up on sale for 170 each a while back, although I have one complaint that I feel will eventually drive me to pick up some HS8s and its that it's class D drivers produce, at least to me, an intolerable white noise that I can hear anywhere in my studio if there is nothing playing.

Don't get me wrong, it is extremely feint, but I tend to pick up on these things and it drives me mad.

This was the primary complaint people had with the MK Is and it seems JBL pushed that aside.

I bought these as a compromise. I just can't afford the Genelecs I really want but I needed to upgrade from some tiny Yamahas I was using, hence I bought these big boys.
They are big, bear that in mind. And, to these ears, they don't carry as much detail as higher range monitors would. But for the price… these are excellent. They will serve me well for a time while I build up to the Genelecs.
So far I am very happy with them. There is detail, bottom end seems pretty balanced, but I don't do dance music so I haven't pushed them. I am looking for good response for acoustic guitar and vocal and so far I'm pleased with what I'm hearing.
In fact I just bumped up my rating to 4.0
ps. They are shiny. Gloss shiny. I actually like it.

These a basically the best speakers you can buy with $... Way better than and rokits or even Yamahas.

I use these monitor speakers with the Yamaha psr-s975 and if you're looking for clear precise sound that exacts the output built in speakers then these are for you. I'm very please at the quality of the sound. I also bought the matching base speaker, all great!

I had the older version of these speakers that only had a 6" subwoofer...these coming with a WHOPPING 8" SUBS!!!!!! For the same Price!!!! I love it!!!!! Sweatwater sure does know how to make the best life Possible!!!!

I took what I thought was a bit of gamble on these babies! No gamble at all. I won! They are terrific. I"ve heard about ever studio monitor there is. This one is as cleaning and clear as any of them and very affordable. 5

These have been great since I brought them home last winter (6 months ago) and I have no complaints. No static, no clipping (from high end), and vibrant, crispy sound just the way the producers mixed their tracks to sound. My only suggestion is if you"re more into electronic you might need to pair a sub to hit the low end more definitely. Other than that, I"ve even been using these in lieu of a guitar cab while waiting for shipping. And let"s not ignore the fact that they look fricken badass... do it. Your ears will thank you.

Two hours out of the box and I am blown away.
I've yet to break these speakers in...and the detail of mixes that I know very well-are accentuated(positively.)
I was afraid that an 8" woofer would be too much for a semi-modest room. It's not. TBF...my room is treated. BUT... I see no reason why these monitors won't sound great in a dimensionally horrible room.

I am very happy with this pair of speakers. Using with my DAW. Focusbright 2i2 for monitoring,Mac with Ableton Live. These JBL"S was the topping on the cake.This pair was the last piece added to my workstation, after listening to many different speakers and with a price point these were my choice. Would recommend ! Great sound! Great Value!

Now I see what the big deal with reference monitors is! Listening to various favorite recordings; stereo field, detail - holy cats!
The high treble was a bit piercing, but for both the high end and low end, there are adjustments to fail in the sound for your situation. Sweet! I"m looking forward to mixing without headphones.

Many things influence opinions about gear. These monitors sound very good but there are disappointing features that influenced my middle of the road rating. These are inexpensive monitors, but they don't have to look the part.

First, the gloss black plastic front plate looks cheap. The greatly reduced weight from previous models may have seemed like a "feature", but the light weight also says cheap, and acts unstable. Older models came with a rubber pad covering the entire bottom, this one had four tiny rubber stick-ons the size of a pencil eraser and really don't help much with sliding.

Seems like the accountants at Harmon are winning the battle with engineers and cutting corners to gain profit. The jury will be judging these over the next week or so and deciding whether or not to return them.
