Yamaha's - The Hidden Gems

By David E Lavelle from Venice, FL on February 20, 2024

I've owned a couple Yamaha instruments, both electric & acoustic. The luthiers at their Japan plant are simply some of the best in the world. But this guitar blew me away! The tone & projection are as good as my Martin'(OM-28 & HD-28) for around the same price. Then you get to the bling. The neck is flamed maple bound, as well as the binding. There is a full outline on the top all the way to the heel of finely detailed abalone. And I'm not 100% certain, but I think the tuners are to of the line Gotoh.
That's enough of my sales pitch. If you're in the market for a beautiful sounding instrument in this price range, try this one. You'll buy it!

New LS36 Yamaha

By Ronald Rollins from Columbia, SC on October 23, 2023 Music Background: 40+ years playing guitar, BA in music, 20+ years gigging.

I tried to order one of these guitars a few years ago and got impatient and canceled the order. A few weeks ago I checked and saw Sweetwater had two in stock. I ordered one immediately. When it came in I was blown away. This is without a doubt the best guitar I own. (I have several that cost more.) Full rich tone, nicely balanced, fat lows, crystal clear highs. It took me about 20 minutes to dial in the setup, it plays like a dream.

So far, all my friends that have heard and / or played it agree it is one of the best guitars they have experienced. For me, it sets a standard… literally! I just went to Nashville, visited most of the known guitar stores, played dream guitars by major builders, and found nothing to compete with this guitar that did not cost at least twice as much. I am a happy camper. I can not imagine wanting to buy another OM style guitar.

Thanks to my sales rep, Hunter Myers. Sweetwater, as always, is great to deal with.

Yamaha LS36

By Brad Wilson from KS on August 2, 2023 Music Background: Been playing for over 50 years

I picked this up as a Demo and just recieved it about an hour ago. I am a little bit blown away on the sound and quality of this guitar. I have owned other OM body shaped guitars and sold all but one of them. The one that I kept I will never sell. I have to say that this Yamaha is even a little bit better than it is. I have played guitars that cost nearly twice the price of this guitar and I would buy this guitar over them in a minute. If anyone is looking for an OM guitar that punches above its price range I would suggest you take a look at this guitar. I realize that this is not an inexpensive guitar, but for the price of some other guitars out there, this guitar almost seems like a bargain. Especially when you can get a Demo from Sweetwater. Thanks to Nick Nevins, he always does me right.
