Gibson Custom Les Paul Axcess Custom Floyd Rose - Ebony Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Maple Top, Mahogany Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and Floyd Rose Tremolo - Ebony

Unlimited playability and killer tone are just two of the things that make the Gibson Custom Les Paul Axcess Custom Floyd Rose is a special guitar. It employs the tried-and-true rock ‘n’ roll formula — maple and mahogany — and combines it with a set of premium humbuckers to create a thick wall of aggressive, rich tone. While the Axcess Custom Floyd Rose’s elegant style harkens back to the late ‘50s, it has features that are rooted firmly in the 21st Century, such as a Floyd Rose tremolo, modern heel-less neck joint, Apex headstock for added strength, and a contoured, weight-relieved body. So, get your hands on this high-performance axe — you can’t deny the appeal of the Les Paul Axcess Custom Floyd Rose.

Worth the wait!!!

Perfection!! I've dreamed of a Les Paul with floyedrose for years, and now to have it is a dream come true!! Love the heeless neck design, the weight relief, the pickups sound incredible with my 5150 amp. what I didn't know until I received the guitar that it's the 70 anniversary of the Les Paul, and it has a custom toggle switch plate. Special thanks to Issac for his patients, and help! Kevin Hale Fort Myers Florida

Best looking guitar in my collection

Plays and feels better than my Les Paul Standard Gold Top and the Floyd Rose is a must.

I've waited 40 ys for this guitar!!!

I have owned a Les Paul since I was 15, by far my favorite instrument. But, I always had to have another guitar for the Floyd Rose- can't get away without one. All I've ever wanted was a Paul with a locking Floyd Rose. I went through many guitars over the years trying to find a hybrid of a Les Paul with a locking Trem - none of them ever played or sounded like a Les Paul. From the second I plugged this in I knew it was the real deal. The tonal range of this guitar is phenomenal, the Les Paul feel, sound and playability...ALL TOP NOTCH. The only thing i had to do was open up the tremolo spring casing and screw in a Floyd Rose trem stop - I hate floating tremolo bars. With that little mod - I have MY perfect guitar.. only took a lifetime to get it.

Best LP EVER!

Gibson got this one right, MUCH better than original LP Axcess!

An Extremely Nice Addition to my Gibson Guitar Collection

By Keith Arnold from Jacksonville, FL on October 22, 2020 Music Background: I play guitar because I love it, Not because I am good.:-)

I had an Epiphone, and one day I just said darn it, I would love a Les Paul. I have been out of playing the guitar for close to 35 years. So with not too many monetary units in hand, I purchased a 2017 Les Paul Studio HP. I then over the years purchased a 61 Reissue SG, and an Ibanez RG650 AHM, amongst others. I love all of them! A friend hinted that I needed to get an upgraded Les Paul. I really had NO intention of getting another Les Paul guitar UNTIL I saw this one!
The care and execution of the (55 point inspection and setup I had Sweetwater do) turned out to be a charm! The action on this guitar is so sweet, the sustain is off the charts, the Floyd Rose is a 15 on a scale from 1 to 10. I can dive bomb and lift the Floyd Rose and the guitar stays right in tune! It feels much different from the SG and the HP with a contoured and much-reduced heel for much easier access to the sweet high notes. The coil taps function much in the same manner as my HP and it can produce many different tonal variations. Though the sound couldn't be more different between the two (HP vs Axcess). I could not be happier with my purchase! I know LOTS of people will say that this is an awful lot of money to spend on a guitar and they are completely right! Though I did it and I am NOT dissatisfied in any way. BTW, I name all my guitars, and I purchased the guitar on the day we all lost our guitar hero Eddie Van Halen :-(. My best friend JB and his brother said I should name it EVH so Eddie it is RIP EVH This dive bomb is for you!

Best Guitar in the World?

By Rick from Cyprus on January 23, 2023 Music Background: Bassist / Guitarist

Like most things, guitars will be a matter of choice, however, one thing that cannot be ignored is quality, & this has it in spades. I'd played several Gibson Les Pauls before, but had used my own Epi Les Paul Custom (ebony) for several years. I loved the guitar. But having the option to buy the Les Paul Axcess Custom FR, I jumped at it & am delighted I did. Traditionalists may scoff at the idea of putting a tremolo system on a Les Paul, but as far as I'm concerned I now have the perfect guitar!
The contoured heel sets it apart & the sustain is superb. It's a joy to hold & I even feel I play better with it. It may be expensive, but there are plenty of guitars out there in the $5,000 range, & plenty of guitarists willing to pay. Absolute quality & a delight!

Big wait. Big sad

By K from Pennsylvania on June 19, 2023

Waited months for my LP Custom Axcess Floyd. It arrived with chipped finish on the binding near frets 14-16 and a crack in the finish on the neck joint. Big sad face

The pics I added are Sweetwater's pics from after I sent the guitar back. They are clearer than the ones I took with my phone.

Im not going to be a jerk and give it 1 star. (Though the total experience certainly gets 1 star) Aside from the defects it was a good-ish guitar. Felt nice. 2mm action from the factory. A bit higher than I like, but since it was going back, I didn't take the time to lower it. Also a bit more tooling marks on the frets and fretboard than I like to see on a $ dollar guitar. Let alone a $ dollar one, but "hand made" and all that.....It was also a little headstock heavy and wanted to neck dive a little. Likely because it's routed for a floyd AND chambered so the body was a bit light.

I would have looked past all this if the first thing I saw when I opened the case wasn't finish chipping off the binding. I immediately returned it and ordered another. You get one more chance Gibson. ONE. After that you never get my munny again
