Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue VOS - Cherry Red Reviews
Alt-rock's favorite underdog makes a triumphant return in the Gibson 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue from Sweetwater. This axe is a dead ringer for a perfectly preserved twin-pickup Les Paul Special you'd find hanging in the student section of any fine music store from 1960. Proudly replicated are the timeless Gibson tonewood recipe (mahogany/mahogany/rosewood) and fast-playing 1960 SlimTaper neck that have won over players like Rivers Cuomo and Jerry Garcia. Thick, biting crunch and glassy cleans emit from the 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue's Custom Shop Soapbar P-90 pickups with CTS pots and paper-in-oil caps. A thin VOS nitrocellulose finish and vintage appointments (Kluson tuners, Top Hat knobs) complete the package.

Great Sound, Service and Quality
I received my Les Paul 60's Double Cut and got a good play in last night and had a GREAT time. :-) I wanted the DC model as it had the P90 pickups. With a little distortion and some volume it didn't disappoint. The quality of the build also met my high expectations of Gibson.
Also, a big thank you once again to Matthew, my Sweetwater Sales Engineer, for the fantastic support and to the setup team for getting the action perfect. Thank you, Sweetwater!
1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut, Custom Shop reissue
This is my second Gibson Custom Shop purchase from Kyle Ratayczak at Sweetwater. I have an extensive collection of guitars and this guitar is sweet. I am a fan of P90's and this guitar really has that sound. The specs say that they are Custom Shop, soapbar P90 humbuckers. I have never seen a P90 humbucker and have not asked Kyle about that description. However, they are hotter than the dogear P90 in my Les Paul Jr. Even though I have all my guitars set up by my local guy, the guitar came with a good setup right out of the case. This guitar feels really good and will go from clean to mean with no problem. As with any P90's, you are going to get that P90 hum, but if you like the P90 sound, you accept that. The Custom Shop guitars are pricey, but you get what you pay for. I have some newer Gibson guitars that I have bought from Kyle at Sweetwater and they are all very good. Gibson is making quality instruments again. If you can afford the price, the Custom Shop guitars are outstanding.
