What can I say? Amazing instrument! It is difficult to transmit with a photo the value of this guitar compared to a Les Paul standard. The standard is a great instrument but this takes it to another level from the weight, the neck, the electronics etc. It is another type of feeling. You "feel" that this guitar is a different beast as soon as you have it in your hands. This is the pinnacle of the Les Paul. This guitar makes you desire to play it. I want to spend a moment to thank Ben Jimenez that helped me through the buying process. He has been great.

11/10 Les Paul. Sustain for days, the smooth feel, the VOS finish, showed up tuned and ready to rock right out of the case! The tone of this guitar is a gift from the Gods. The beautiful finish, I love it all.

I'm going to keep this short. I had a production line 50s Les Paul that I sold along with a couple other guitars for this guitar and it was very worth it. It's addicting to play, feels and sounds amazing. Looks amazing, & I can't get enough of it.

This guitar has been my dream guitar for many many years and the closest i will get to an actual 59' les paul, the fit, finish, look and feel are out of this world and it sounds amazing i teleport back to the 70's everytime i play it!!

This is the third 59 reissue I owned.
I did bond with this one. The dirty lemon is something you don't get tired of.
The Custombucker Alnico III's seem more punchy than the Custombucker's I had before.
The weight is about 7.8 lbs, and the neck is perfect.
I did put on speed knobs, as I don't care about keeping it exactly perfectly the same.

I have owned a few Les Pauls in my life (a studio, a smartwood, a 2014 Les Paul Traditional, and a Les Paul 60's standard). I've always dreamed of the Holy Grail 1959 (like most Jimmy Page and Billy Gibbons fans), but it was well out of my reach. I wanted to downgrade my music arsenal a bit and took a trip to Sweetwater to flirt with the idea of buying an R9 with some trades. The trades didn't add up as hoped, but I was willing to set myself back a bit financially. It was an impulse buy that I will never regret. This is the finest electric instrument that I have ever held, and I own it! The sound, the playability, the build, and the beauty are beyond reproach! My wife, who has suffered with my guitar addiction for 25 years and has heard "this is the last guitar I'll ever own" a handful of times, even agrees that this magnificent custom shop Gibson was worth every single penny spent. If she says so, it's true! Owning it is a significant emotional event and playing it is a spiritual awakening that I've waited on for decades. This is the last guitar I'll every buy :) Just do it! Wow!!! This is an amazing guitar. I cannot put it down and it sounds amazing through a Fender or Marshall. I debated buying it but so happy I did.

I own many fancy guitars but this Les Paul stands out! Probably I found the guitar that really speaks to me, ya know.
I don't care about flaws in binding, paint as Gibson known for. If you are looking for the flawless instrument I would suggest PRS. But 59 Les Paul has a character and feel which is more important for me.

I had this guitar on my bench, for a setup, after a customer bought it.

When I do setups I also do full inspections, so I look at guitars very closely, as you can see in my YoUTube review (attached here).

The guitar is built like a tank and plays like a monster - just as one would expect from a Gibson of this caliber.

However, the big news is the service from my Sales Engineer, Rob Amaral. He took care of everything and I had my guitar overnight. Can't beat that service if you tried... Give Sweetwater a call and ask for Rob, you'll never regret it.

What can I say that already hasn't been. This guitar is excellent. After I bought my Les Paul custom (from Bart Amburn) I decided the next step was an R9. Looking on the Sweetwater site this guitar just caught my eye. I called Bart and he took care of me as always. After I received the guitar I made some minor setup adjustments to my preference then I played the guitar and played and played and played. The more I became accustomed to this guitar the better it got. The pickups are amazing! Acoustically it's fantastic and very resonant. If you have ever wanted an R9 now is the time to buy IMO. Call Sweetwater and ask for Bart Amburn.

I will say that the case had some very minor interior damage from shipping but the guys at Sweetwater are taking care of that for me. Excellent customer service.

Received my 59 reissue dirty lemon burst…. 8.5lbs and really nice top! Wow….. what a great guitar. Not just beautiful but more importantly plays great… right out of the box. Plugged into Mesa boogie mark v 35 and it sounded excellent…cleans and that mark 2 c+ mode really sings with crunch on chords and searing solo with les Paul sustain…. Glad made the decision to to buy this guitar and big thank you to sales rep at Sweetwater.

The Les Paul I received surpassed my every expectation. The harmonic richness and tonal dynamics are unlike any guitar I have ever played. She can feedback with beautiful harmonics at every note at will and sustains for days! I don't know what Gibson is doing in the Custom Shop, but they are definitely doing it right. This guitar has a personality of its own and virtually plays itself. I have visited several large music stores since purchasing this and she is better than anything I've played; worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and experience the best of what Gibson can today offer. Life is too short to live without a fantastic Les Paul!

I have a '19 R8 which I thought was as good as it could get, but this one tops it. By far the greatest guitar I've ever seen or especially owned. Everything is perfect and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Sweetwater for making my dream come true.

Loving this guitar. Gibson Custom Shop really hit the mark with the reissues the past few years. I have a 2019 58 RI Washed Cherry, and this 2020 59 RI Dirty Lemon. Its amazing how similar but different each of them are.
