The Ultimate Les Paul!
I currently own several Standards and have to say this is by far the best Les Paul I have ever owned. The neck is a perfect fit for me and I love the tall thin frets. The Rosewood finger board has been buffed to perfection. The pickups are amazing. This is the tone that has been in my head since I started playing over 40 years ago. The sustain is beyond insane. It even sounds amazing unplugged…it has an almost acoustic quality. It is also the perfect weight for a solid mahogany back Less Paul (8 lbs 14 ozs). The Custom Shop is truly operating at another level.
The only thing I wasn't sure about was the Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aging. I really wasn't sure if it was worth another $500. I have to say it is worth every penny. Tom Murphy is a Genius!!! It's a brand new guitar with an aged finish. The checking all over the guitar with the yellowed lacquered finish looks amazing. The finish looks like a guitar that has been in a case for 40 or 50 years. The aged hardware looks really cool as well. Over all it is not what I would call an aged guitar but it definitely plays like one. And I believe it will age pretty rapidly over time. I can not wait to see how it looks in another year!!!!
If you are wondering if the Murphy Lab Les Pauls are as good as the reviews say…rest assured they are even better!
