Epiphone Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Mahogany Neck, Indian Laurel Fretboard, and 1 Single-coil Pickup - Classic White

Ever since Green Day emerged from East Bay, California, in 1987, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong could be seen brandishing a Les Paul Junior slung low over his shoulder. The Epiphone Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior is a faithful send-up of the original axe Billie Joe played on so many of the band’s hits and on stages worldwide. Featuring a flat-top mahogany body in classic white with a vintage wrap-around lightning bar bridge and a single Epiphone Pro P-90, this solidbody rocks hard without any flair or fluff — true to its namesake.

Fantastic

By JC on June 30, 2023

The best Epi I've ever owned. I couldn't find one flaw; the finish is perfect, much better than some Gibsons I've owned. Set up was nice, with 5/64" action at the 12th fret. The neck has real rolled edges and no sharp frets, the tuners are smooth and hold tune, and the pickup is powerful. Highly recommended.

Inexpensive Value in great Quality .

Any
Any Professional guitar player can take this guitar and gig with it without feeling any loss in sound quality. The set up and quality is there, the playability is there and what else does one need . Play your heart out . Thanks to Epiphone and Sweetwater customer Service including praise to my sales Engineer Collin Blue who has effectively and professionally explained to me the pros and cons to anything I have purchased from him. Thank you Collin another great axe ...
P.S. wish I had this guitar when I was a kid to grow with it. So this will go to one of my Grand kids and hopefully make him a great Guitar player that Grandpa wants to see. A great Gift buy it for your kids grand kids or for the child in you .... MarHak

Revised Review - Not Dookie

By Shaun from Brooks, Maine on March 30, 2023 Music Background: Professional Bagpiper, experienced guitarist.

I went on about my problems in the previous review. Let me just say that Andrew contacted me directly and made things right. After the adjustment noted earlier, the instrument plays great. Nice punk rock grit to the P-90. Moderate to fast action for soloing. The guitar really shines with power chord progressions. God Save The Queen. Should I Stay or Should I Go? Blitzkrieg Bop. Dookie. This ax is punk rock. It may not be for a finesse player, but I'm not one of those chaps. This thing makes music to commit vandalism by. I love it.

Phenomenal Epiphone

By Matthew Young from CHATTANOOGA, TN on March 29, 2023

Fantastic Epiphone Les Paul Jr. Came playable right out of the box and is a joy to play. Action is slightly high, but no where near unplayable out of the box, in fact I felt the action fits the guitar. Highly recommended if you want a simple axe that can generate some Green Day tones.

An oldie, but a goodie

By Sam R. from Omaha, NE on January 26, 2022 Music Background: Intermediate; Enthusiast

I used to own a 2011 Gibson Junior in this finish, but sadly, I had to part ways with it a few years back. But when I heard that these had released, I had to get my hands on 'em!

The 50's profile is chunky yet super manageable, the P90 has got that growl that we all love, the leopard lined case is just a plus!

I have no doubt that this guitar would have been able to go the distance against the old Junior I had, but it's an amazing piece for the price!

Excellent Junior!

By Josh from Columbus, OH on November 23, 2021

Disclaimer: I didn't buy this as a big Billie Joe fan(but he's cool!), I was just looking for a great Junior. This fit the bill perfectly. The fit and finish on mine is perfect. The neck is FAT and that's great. Out of the box the setup was great for me and it was nearly in tune. It's vocal even unplugged and sounds great in my ultra minimalist setup - now refined even more

Jr + coily cable + 57 champ = all you need. All. You. Need.

Killer Guitar

By Steven B. from West Virginia on November 21, 2021

I actually ordered two of these and they're both fantastic. Set neck, super light, new epiphone headstock, and the P90 it has in it sounds great though my Rockerverb 50. No, it's not a $2,000 guitar, but it's not meant to be. I've played for about 20 years now and I'm having trouble putting this one down. Action was set a little higher than my preference, but that's an easy fix. Even with the higher action, I love playing this guitar. Try it out. This would be a great first guitar that you can grow into, or a great gigging instrument for someone a little more seasoned. I plan to use this live as much as possible.

Ordered these through Spencer Kennedy at Sweetwater. His knowledge and customer service keeps me coming back.

Incredible Guitar

By Jordan from New York on November 20, 2021

This thing is such an incredible value. Beautiful finish, awesome case, howling P-90…and set-up perfectly out of the box. Epiphone knocked it out of the park with this one. Thanks to my sales rep Brian Kerns for getting this out so quickly.

Great guitar and case

By Gregory Brule from HEWITT, NJ on June 8, 2023

GREAT JOB BY EPIPHONE , CASE AND GUITAR ARE OF GREAT QUALITY FOR THIS PRICE RANGE . FIT AND FINISH ARE GREAT .
SOUNDWISE THE GUITAR PLAYS GREAT , THE P90 IS OKAY JUST A LITTLE SHY OF THE GIBSON COUNTER PART BUT OTHERWISE A GREAT
BUY. WOULD DEFFINETLY RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND .

guitar is great for an epiphone

By Michael Riffle from Weston, WV on September 26, 2023

First guitar i got had completely broken tone knob, had to return it. the second one had some defects in the finish mostly in the headstock area. felt like sweetwater really dropped the all on this one and was overall disappointed in the follow up on everything. i have purchased a lot from sweetwater over the years and i still continue to buy from them but they really dropped the ball on this one with me in my opinion. sound of guitsr is fine, case is unique and nice and i think one day it'll probably be worth more than the guitar.

Lacking Quality

By Sweetwater Customer on November 24, 2021

I decided to give this Epiphone a try even though I try to stay away from Chinese made electric guitars. I have heard many say how Epiphone quality in China has gone way up in the last few years and "rival Gibson". Well I own about 20 Gibsons so thought I would put it to the test and have owned some great Korean Epi's in the past. I was excited to get this guitar because of what it was but after getting it was greatly disappointed and do not see where Epiphone has changed at all. The neck on this guitar was unfortunately set improperly causing some issues and had no choice but to return it. Sorry Epiphone I tried.
