'57 Les Paul Custom Reissue R7 3 pickup w/ Bigsby

By Ed F from Bucks County PA on January 31, 2024 Music Background: Lifelong non-pro musician, B.A. in Music Theory and Performance

After a month of playing, I am ready to give my post-honeymoon review. I don't use .010s (factory strings) so first thing I did was restring it with my personal preference, Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky .009 - .046, they let you bend to extremes effortlessly but can still chug with the heavier bottom end strings. If I had to use just one word, I think that "Unbelievable" covers it. This guitar has the most amazing tone that I have ever created with a guitar in my own hands! I am SO freakin' impressed with how iconic it really sounds. Those Custombuckers produce such growl and undertones, plus the sustain is unreal. The harmonics are screaming and the Bigsby can produce some aggressive vibrato effects, almost as good as a Strat. The best word I can use about the bridge pickup is searing, the solos are just searing hot. For a great change up, the Out of Phase middle position with the bridge and middle pickups is still a lead sound, just with that thinner, quacky, effect perfect for when you don't want to rip the roof off. And the neck pickup is SO amazing for rhythm, the base strings just stand out so well, just perfect for power/barre chords! The neck is supposed to be a chunky C, which I guess it is but I have no more difficulty playing it than I do with my Les Paul HP with the soloist neck. My fingers are pretty long so for me, getting comfortable with the chunky C and reaching everything is no problem. The ebony on the fretboard is like satin and the frets are super smooth, so moving up and down the board is effortless. What a beautiful guitar, I am SO glad I went for the 3 pickup Custom with the bigsby. I wanted a Custom with thet configuration, but I was a little concerned about the neck thickness, so I was also considering a '60 Standard reissue, but I'm glad I stuck to my guns because the neck is a non-issue for me. Also, I know a lot of players don't want a really heavy LP but I love the 10lb 6oz weight, it feels like this guitar should be heavy, it's such a beast.

3-pickup Black Beauty with Bigsby

By Johnny D from Delaware (via Philly) on May 11, 2019 Music Background: Collecting and playing guitar for 50 plus years.

This Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS oozes PAF tones, courtesy of the three Custom Bucker Alnico III unpotted pickups. Chunky C profile neck, ebony fingerboard with historic medium jumbo frets and vintage-style Kluson Waffleback tuners. Plek'd frets for optimized playability. Beautiful VOS nitro finish with reissue Bigsby.

First off, this is NOT a chambered guitar, it is solid and hefty which adds to the vintage vibe. When I was a teenager I owned an original 68 LP Custom and this guitar reminds me of that guitar. The setup on this reissue is fantastic, action is the lowest I have ever experienced on a Les Paul and I own many. Plugged in it will give you any tone you want. It stays in tune using the Bigsby and I attribute that to the great setup of this guitar. Sweetwater always seems to obtain the finest Gibson Custom shop guitars and your purchase doesn't go out the door until it is inspected and adjusted. Special thanks to my sales engineer "Aaron Smith". This guy is the best and will never steer you wrong.
