I am pleased with the sound of this Guido; years ago I had a great wooden one, and the first time some kid banged on it with a drumstick it broke. I would have bought another wooden one here but I decided to try this one. The two scrapers allow for a variety of sounds and I would say that if you are a precise player of this instrument it can sound exactly like a classic wooden one. Anyway, I am very happy with this product- the rubber grommets within the finger holes make playing this for long periods of time not painful, unlike some others.

Good size, comfortable rubber-ringed holes for thumb and index. Far louder and brighter-sounding than a natural gourd. Good to have both the wood and plastic scrapers. As with any guiro, you can change the pitch and brightness by the position of the scraper. With my crowded and slightly swaying tripod percussion table, having a cradk-resistant design is a big plus.

Very surprised by the sound and feel of this. It is a very nice guiro.

This was purchased as a gift for my granddaughter. She loved it. I was impressed with the packaging and instrument seemed very sturdy. Looks like it will last a long time. She had originally asked for one made from real gourd but she decided this was so much better. She is a student and is starting small musical group.
