JHS Crimson Fuzz Effects Pedal Reviews
From the JHS Legends of Fuzz series of vintage-inspired fuzz pedals, the JHS Crimson is a stunningly accurate re-creation of a sought-after Russian-made fuzz box from the early '90s. Based on a version from JHS founder Josh Scott’s personal collection, the Crimson produces the creamy sustaining fuzz tones that became a hallmark of grunge and art rock musicians, including Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., and Wilco, and was even favored by Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, a renowned connoisseur of fuzz. Warm and clear and never muddy, the Crimson imbues lead lines with a sonorous string-like sustain and wraps chords in a wooly blanket of crunch. Guitarists at Sweetwater were clamoring for a faithful rendition of the post-Soviet classic, so we were more than excited when JHS dropped this sweet fuzz machine on our doorstep. We’re happy to report it fully lives up to its legendary status and is certain to be one of your favorite fuzz pedals!

What I got was exactly what I wanted: A thick, molten, creamy, fuzz. This unit doesn't spit and sputter but it does give you a nice thick, almost distortion, but is far more sinister. Add to that the red mid bump button and you're cutting through the mix with a more aggressive tone.
I've owned a big muff®, Fulltone 69', and Analog Man's Peppermint Fuzz (still own that one) but the Crimson was the fuzz sound I was after.
While the pedal does have a larger footprint than a standard single switch pedal it's not really a space hog (but I have no idea what's on your board so that comment may be of little value.
