I finally found something….

I can write a review about after all these years. Totally pleased with these speakers. Super compact. Sound great. We use them for weddings and small proms (up to 150)

We downsized this component because of our ages. we love its easy of setting up. Our only complaint would be with the lack of guidance in the manual and online regarding setup and usage of the the DSP. Once understand (and it's not really that difficult) This is an excellent product! Sweetwater, especially Logan Mlller are a great resource and help for all of our needs. Thank you!

Great unit. Perfect for my application

By Sweetwater Customer on February 21, 2024

First time owner of a column array so I cannot compare to others. I deploy the unit with an acoustic duo. We place the unit between us, and behind us about 5-6 ft.

PROs:
- sets up in minutes. not kidding.
- plenty loud for small venues (in fact, I was told to turn it down when the volume was at just 50%).
- only have to make 1 trip to get the unit from my car to the stage
- the sound is very good with plenty of bass (this is why I got a 12" subwoofer instead of smaller). The high and mids and crisp and clear.
- sound dispersion is at a wide angle. Wider than normal speakers, and we can hear it well on either side.
- I like the "MODE" setting - which is a way to quickly dial in an EQ. I was using ROCK setting but ran into a bit of feedback, so I quickly changed it to COUNTRY which lowered the highs, and the feedback was eliminated.

CONs:
- the subwoofer is a bit heavy to carry individually for more than several steps. I use a hand cart for long distances. (BUT, I love the bass, and that's what I wanted, so this is not a complaint)
- used the LN1263 mixer app on my iPad. The manual link within the app results in a "PAGE NOT FOUND" message. Why do I need the manual? because there are some quirks that I discovered by using it and having the manual would probably have saved me time. i.e. the volume faders are limited by the volume set on the subwoofer mixer. for example, if the ch 1 fader on the mixer on the subwoofer is set to 5, the fader on the app will adjust the volume proportionally from that level. So Peavey loses 1/2 pt for the quirks and the lack of manual availability, IMHO. I am not planning on using the mixer app at a live gig until I get more experience with it.

I like the unit a lot and I am looking forward to using it in a larger venue coming up. Well done Peavey.

First impressions...Peavey LN1263

I have only played a few gigs so far with this unit....so opinions possibly changing after a period of time. First off, there is very little on YouTube as to what this unit actually sounds like. They are many videos showing the technical aspects of it, assembly, features, etc. but not much to actually hear it. I purchased it primarily because it had a built in mixer with sufficient channels for a duo including guitar channels and Ipad input. It also has a mixer out which enables powered monitors to be used keeping the effects as well. I use it only in the simplest way possible. I have downloaded the app but do not use it as I use a laptop with tracks, and I use bluetooth on my Iphone for my hearing aids. So, just using the basic settings with the programmed pre-sets. It definitely feels "Oriental"...the knobs are a little shaky, but the most challenging thing is finding the "sweet spot" fidelity wise. Volume wise it goes from being too low to blowing out in a hurry. I have the sub woofer down to 3.0 as it's hard to get the right balance of lows and highs. I do not like the way my acoustic/electrics sound through it, too trebly for me. I use an electric guitar. I like the way the vocals sound through it, nice and crisp. All in all, I like the unit, aside from the somewhat shaky components. It's a very sturdy unit and super simple to assemble and break down. I did not have the money for the EV 50M but I believe the more I use the Peavey the more I'll understand it. Quality control could be better though, there is no "chrous" on the unit.
