Love it
I wanted a bare bones guitar to play more rock stuff with it. After having it set up I can be wicked mean to this thing and she stays in tune.
CJ and the staff at Sweetwater are the best.
For not being a high end guitar it plays like one
GL-200
Ordered this guitar and had Sweetwater install a Screamin Demon pickup. Absolutely love this guita.
It is what it is....
I just bought this from Patrick Lance my sales guy. As always he did a great job. If you want a real 80's feeling guitar and don't want to spend $$$ on an old Jackson or Charvel this is the way to go. The neck is a bit thicker than I would expect but is very playable. The vibrato locking system is good and dive bombing is no issue. The pickup is a bit muddy but for under $600 it is OK. The workmanship is fine. You can really shred on this guitar. The only thing I am going to change is put in a nice EMG but if I was not so picky the pickup would be fine. Buying from Sweetwater is easy and they do stand behind what they sell, this is my fifth guitar this year and all have been great. So it is a 5 star if you just look at it as a shred machine, very fast neck and heavy early eighties sound...We'll worth the money.
Great guitar for the money..
Great guitar,,,great feel,,great sound and tone,,,floyd rose special works good,,love the stock esp design pickup,,no need to replace it anytime soon,,,great guitar for the money..
Super Strat style kept simple
This guitar will cater to the super strat crowd just fine. I find it fun and easy to play and with only one knob every thing is kept simple. This guitar is lighter that my Charvel San Dimas and the neck seems to me like a composite material and not true maple but there's no dead spots which is what I look for always with any type guitar. The pickup sounds fine for that low output 80s hard rock sound so I won't be running out to replace it anytime soon. If I keep playing this guitar maybe my hair will grow back and do Mr. Lynch proud. This guitar is a welcome addition to my EVH-Charvel super strat family.
Not bad for the price.
I mistakingly thought it had a Seymour Duncan pickup in it when I ordered it. I also thought the neck would be thinner it’s a little bigger than I expected. The ESP 150b sounds great though. The finish is great be warned the back is some kind of pastel yellow very different from the front. The Daddario strings it came with turned my fingers black and got the fretboard instantly dirty idk what that was about. The Floyd Rose seems to operate fine. I tried tuning down to drop C but seems the strings are hitting the frets on gallops or palm mutes as it is so I think it needs a truss rod adjustment. Plays good in standard tuning though. Overall there are much better guitars for the price, However It may grow on me after it’s properly broken in and adjusted to where I want it. Regardless the guys at Sweetwater are awesome and got me squared away quickly I’ve already got a full cart of effects and will probably order another guitar and half stack in the near future.
