Fender Jack White Triplecaster Telecaster Electric Guitar - Black Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Ash Body, Maple Neck, Maple Fingerboard, Bigsby Vibrato, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and 1 Single-coil Pickup - Black

Merging elements from the famous “Low Rider” Telecasters and other T-style guitars favored by Jack White, the decidedly unconventional Fender Jack White Triplecaster Telecaster epitomizes Jack’s idiosyncratic and fearless approach to music making. This guitar starts with a lightweight chambered ash body in a traditional Tele shape, fit with an expressive Bigsby B5C vibrato unit, a banjo-style armrest, and a compensated 3-saddle bridge. A contoured neck heel then grants enhanced access to the Soft “V” maple neck’s matching maple fingerboard. Moreover, a 12-inch radius and 22 medium-jumbo frets ensure even the wildest multi-step bends sing without a hint of fret out. Under the hood, this hot-rodded Tele shows its modded-out colors with a bridge-position Jack White Humbucker, a JW-90 in the middle position, and a Custom Jack White CuNiFe Wide Range Humbucker in the neck position. You also get an idiosyncratic arrangement of Jack White accoutrements, including an arcade-style stutter switch, a 3-position mute/play/direct-to-jack switch, and a Hipshot Drop D extender. A Tele that truly stands apart from the pack, the Jack White Triplecaster Telecaster captures the rock ’n’ roll charm of its creator right down to a T.

Pure Fun

By Beau from Reno
Music Background: Guitar addict

I have been lucky and/or financially irresponsible enough to have a fairly substantial guitar collection and have had the opportunity to play many wonderful guitars throughout my days. It would be unfair for me to say that this is the best of them all, mainly due to recency bias, but I do believe I can say this is my favorite fender with impunity. My favorite part of this guitar is probably the neck. It is difficult to find a 50-style neck on a telecaster these days, and this one is pure comfort. The finish, or lack thereof, makes the neck feel instantly warn in and the bone-white appearance is just lovely. Might even have extra health benefits since I may wash my hands more often to keep it clean. As far as the pickups, I do love Cunife's, but the P-90 was the selling point for me, and it did not disappoint...but the surprise was how awesome the humbucker is. It maintains a great tone when you roll off the volume, and then you can drop the hammer with the direct to jack to really fire it up. Good times. Mix in a stutter switch and you have a full-blown party. My other pleasant surprise was how I actually use and enjoy the Bigsby. The beauty of this guitar is the use of chambered ash. While more expensive, the use of ash keeps the guitar light and maintains that old telecaster magic and makes this beauty work. I cannot declare that this guitar will be your favorite, but I can just about guarantee you will have fun with this guitar, because that is what it is. Also, a big shout out to Sweetwater. They are just superior in customer service and knowledge to their competitors, and I wish I would have moved my business there sooner.

So ya want something different?

By Michael Y. from Delano, MN

If you want a guitar with personality and flexibility, you have came to the right place. Like Jack White himself, he is not always the "flavor of the month" for some. You have to give him credit though for getting Fender to get outside of the box and make something unique and a bit daring. Like the Panoverb Amp (which I was lucky to get my hands on at launch), its a wonderful platform to explore sounds and be a bit different.

You may ask "This guy must be a huge Jack White fan to spend all that $$ on a Amp and Guitar at that price!". Truth is I like his music, but I am in no way a fanboy. I am a fan of the innovation. This is not your traditional Tele. The 3 pickups are all great and give you some great snarl and also warm creamy tones.

Happy with my purchase. My sales engineer Evan Hall, did a great job on my first purchase with him as my new rep. Sweetwater is still #1 with me. Give this guitar a spin. It will be something that stands out as different and yet very useful for all styles of music

Great guitar. Awful Fender.

By Allen

It's awesome that Fender worked with Jack White on creating such a genius guitar. It's a real flamethrower. The guitar is a 5 out of 5.

The "straight to Jack" toggle (the third knob) bypasses the volume and tone circuit with whatever pickup you're on. Bypassing that part of the circuit adds a slight boost in volume with a nice touch of clarity and added headroom. It's something I wish I could implement on my other guitars.

The pickups are great. Like REALLY great. They are balanced in both tone and volume, and complement one another incredibly well.

The middle pickup is a sweet and punchy P90 that acts as a second single coil bridge.

The Bigsby is better looking than it is functional. It excels at soft vibrato when you're only bending about half a note up or down. The demo I received from Sweetwater and Fender had some pretty rusted out saddles. The rust created a lot of binding which rendered the Bigsby useless and left the guitar with wildly unstable tuning. I'll have to put in a good amount of elbow grease or get new saddles. I was surprised Sweetwater missed the rust on all three saddles upon receiving it. Sweetwater eventually provided a price adjustment to cover the cost of new saddles and a setup.

The main thing that bums me out about the purchase was the chipped up white painted areas that were not highlighted nor mentioned in the demo description. When a Sweetwater guitar tech reached out to Fender on my behalf for a replacement tuner peg and control plate, Fender very quickly and coldly shot it down with some incredibly corporate response.

Amazing guitar meets non-existent Fender support.

Great guitar, but with a lot of quality control issues

By FG

This is a great guitar with a lot of options and very versatile. However, just like the previous review said it won't play out of the box. The bibsby on mine was super tight, to a point that my guitar tech had to loosen up to allow the bibsby to return to the original position and somewhat maintain the notes. the nut also was pinching the strings, and it had to be fixed. Furthermore, the bridge pick up has two middle plastic looking edges' all of that glue came out of them, and it separated it one of the middle flappers. For a $ guitar plus tax. All of that is unacceptable. Sweetwaters took care of all the issues but reimbursing the cost of the repairs, but it was frustrated to wait for 3 months for a bad quaility made guitar.

Great Guitar (after a setup)

By Steve from Michigan

This is my first guitar that came equipped with a Bigsby. Just be advised that it may not play well right out of the case. You may need to go get a setup. But man, after that.....this guitar is so killer. The Hipshot Xtender is super fun. The Bigsby adds the coolest vibrato. Pickups are super hot and work for all styles of music. Aside from the issues out of the box, I'm so happy I bought this guitar.

If you're not a Jack White fan you may be on the fence about this guitar, to wich I just tell you....do it, pull the trigger. This is a fun guitar and is unlike any guitar I've ever owned. I have fun playing it because it feels and sounds great. That's about all I ask of my guitars.
