Years ago I started buying Alvarez guitars , occasionally a Yamaha. It seems my nature is having a guitar with a warm sound so a question was do I buy this ? I did ! This guitar has a full warm sound ! One thing I do to hear a quality the guitar is just pick a string and see how long the sound last . the guitar is still creating sound up to 14-15 seconds which when playing a chord makes the sound stay longer. I can say this guitar is another step up from those made in china. It's like Alvarez has a manager there to make sure this guitar is another step up from what can be called normal especially of those coming out of china. Thank you !
Alvarez LD70e Laurate series
I've never owned but have played a CF Martin, Gibsons and Taylor's. All American made. Most impressive, was the CF Martin pearl Inlay. It was my brother-in-laws. Gibson, can't remember the model, was impressive also. Not so much the 2 differnt Taylors i played. This LD70e Laurate will compete with the Martin and Gibson with both fit and finish and sound and make Taylor jealous. I own 2 cheap Alvarez. They have good sounds even, but not like the LD70e. Great action, tone and the sustain is unreal. The only thing that could make this guitar better would be made in the USA. Toni from Sweetwater is awsome to say the least.
Great value
Before buying this guitar, I was recently in a box store which had some high end instruments. I mostly play Taylor guitars as the sound and playability of those are great. With that said it's pretty hard to go into music stores and find a guitar that impresses me. However, lately I have had an itch for a good sounding dreadnought as they have a deeper sound than a ga. I had played a martin d42 some years back that really spoke to me with it's well balanced sound that felt like it vibrated through me. I couldn't afford that one at the time and have never played another that spoke like that one. This time I thought I might find a good d28 or humming bird, possibly a j45 that I really would like. The box store has all of those which I played, as well as a Bourgeois and a couple of Larrivees which sounded very good. Then I picked up the LD 70e . I couldn't believe how it sounded and felt! How could this guitar sound better to my ears than all the other ones I had played that day? It was amazing. I also saw a folk size which was the same line of Alvarez . I tried it and it sounded beautiful as well. I not normally into the smaller body guitars but this one I would have taken over a d28 for sheer sound alone. I decide to do some research and found that this Alvarez line is all solid with top shelf woods that you normally would find in guitars that are in the 5000.00 up range. I was sold, however the store I was in was only running a 6month payment plan so I decided to risk buying something I've not played and ordered one from sweetwater. I'm very picky on sound and was already settled on a 70% likely hood that I would return it. It did not disappoint. Like I said earlier I have Taylors, one of them is redwood rosewood but this Alvarez has become my most played guitar. To make a long story longer...no this isn't the d42 that spoke to me but it is the closest one I have found and in my opinion I'd take it over a d28. The folks at sweetwater are great to work with and I look fwd to future purchases.
