Nice
Nice look and sound
This is my second one. A must have
I put one of these on my little street bob kit and wow, that little 18 inch kick came alive. Ordered another for my Tama kit that also has an 18 inch kick and again, WOW. I took 2 kick drums that already sounded good and turned them both into musical cannons. I have 2 more kits with 22 in kicks that will be getting the same treatement. If you want to bring your kick drum to it's full potential then you should really give this kick port thing a try.
Outstanding
Really broadened the sound quality of my bass drum
Perfection
I e used these since their inception and love what they do. Easy to install, maintain and do wonders for kick drum sound. I have one on all my kicks.
worth the purchase
great product! Gives my bass that extra thump I need!!
Love it
A definite must have for any drumset!
KickPort
I've been on board with with product since the beginning!!!! I love them and what they do for my bass drum!!!! Excellent!
Punch
I installed a black one on a 20'' coated Gretsch catalina maple kick, with a Aquariun super kick on the batter side. Tuned both heads loose. Result?- A fat punchy low end drum loaded with power!!! And no pillow or blanket needed. Mic or no mic, the rest of the musicians on stage will know and feel your presence! May try the smaller Kickports on the snare and toms.
Kickport rocks
I have seen these a lot, but never thought it would make that much of an improvement. I stand corrected. I installed. This on a 22" X 18" DW pure oak bass drum. The 1st thing I noticed was that I could feel more low end through my pedal. When a mic was placed in front of it a whole new world of sound opened up. The sound man was happy that he was able to dial in the sound immediately. Will never use a bass drum of my own again with out one installed. One word of caution. If you use a bass drum pillow be sure that the kick port is above the highest point that the pillow touches the bass drum head. You also need to be sure to trim every single bit of the head material from the inside of the T ring support or it is troublesome to install.
Interesting product
I'm amazed at the difference this product made on my bass drum. I bought this willing to accept it might be a complete hoax. But I'm pleased to say that I was dead wrong. It did exactly what is described. It focused the punch and enhanced the low end. With this product I was able to remove all internal muffling I was using. If you DO use a lot of muffling inside the kickport probably won't be of much benefit. I also gotta say If you're not the best at tuning, develop your skill a little before grabbing one of these. This thing amazed me on my 22 inch so I bought a 2nd for the two 20 inch kicks I just bought.
KickPort
Exceeds expectations. Easy to install with a Number 1 X-acto knife (for precision cuts). Looks cool as heck as well.
KickPort bass drum port
I am not a drummer, I am a guitarist,,but I do owe a drum kit for my studio and do know what good sound is. The KickPort solved a large problem in recording the kick drum..I was so impressed I purchased the FX system for the entire kit,, with the smaller port on the batter kick head and WOW, was BLOWN AWAY.. the sound on the recording was awesome and live thru the monitors incredible chest slamming very intelligent sound. Installation super easy. The smaller FX kit for snare and toms eliminated the ringing odd tone. You mike the ports off center and the sound is great.. Think of it as a port on bass cabinet, yes adds efficiency. This product is Great!
BAM! King Kong sized Bass sounds!
I placed this on a 27 year old Pearl 22x18 I refurbished last year and am astounded at the difference in tone. I'm using a Sennheiser e602 II and have never dreamed my recording could sound this clean and powerful! This was the best money I have spent on my set in 27 years of drumming.
Massive bottom end
Pearl Session 22" bass drum with Evans batter and Remo reso. Watched installation video on Kickport site and the whole process took only a few minutes. Bam! The Kickport added an additional lower octave that the bass drum did not have previously. Watched the mic video on the Kickport website for tips on mic placement. Used a Telefunken M82 with both EQ's on. Boom! Now I have a demonic kick drum from hell. Not sure I have heard many recordings with this much bottom and power. Can't recommend this thing enough!
My KickPort Story
I heard a KickPort at a local drum shop and said "I have to have one". It felt like being kicked by an angry kangaroo and it sounded like nothing I've heard from a kick drum. Like suddenly I have a 24" subwoofer. I get compliments from house engineers too. Many gigs I have not even mic'd my kick and it still felt punchy to dancers or listeners. Thanks for a great product Donn Garrett

phenomenal
This kickport is fantastic and the customer service is phenomenal. I always work with a guy named Zach and he does everything in his power to make sure you enjoy the new toys exactly how you want. This kickport is great for increasing the frequency range of your kick drum especially the lower ranges. I'd recommend this to any drummer because who wouldn't like a little more KICK in their kick?
My New KickPort
I bought this based on a recommendation from my sales rep and I have to say I am amazed by the sound diffrence the KickPort has made. The bass is more deep, defined, and has a killer punch. Thanks Wayne for telling me about the KickPort.
love the water , it is sweet, the kick port works.....easy install
This product works...no overtone cutting a hole or for that reason removing the outer head , NoNo. prefect tone easy instalation, it'seasy to get that Bonham feel, thick rich and solid. LOVE IT! Thanks sweet water and more thanks Nick. enuff said.
Turned my 18 in kick into a Cannon
This thing turned my 18 in kick into a weapon of mass projection. I was really skeptical but took a chance and boy was I really surprised at the nice tight punch this thing produced. I have 2 kits with 18 in' kicks so I will be ordering another one for the other kit and will be adding them to my two 22 in kicks as well. If you have been trying to get that killer punch out of your kick this thing will give you that extra umph!!!! Can't believe I waited so long to try it. Only one thing that I didn't anticipate was having to cut out a little more of a hole on my evans resonant head that already had pre-cut hole in it. It was easy enought to fix though.
Kickport in a Rhythm Traveller!
I installed a Kickport into my tiny Pearl Rhythm Traveller bass drum. I could hear a difference right away.
KickPort International -Black
Great sound bass drum ...Good I like
Changed the sound of my bass
This product made my bass drum really boom! It brought out the deep low end that I was looking for.
Very Noticable Difference
I bought the KickPort for one of my drummers, who reported that installation was quick, simple and easy.
The increase in projection was immediately obvious from the first kick. The drum's fundamental frequency, around 55 Hz, was increased considerably, as was a much lower sub-harmonic that wasn't even noticeable before the installation. Even though we haven't tried it anywhere besides a 12' x 15' practice room, I'm quite anxious to hear what it sounds like on stage with an Audix D6 in front of it. I hope it puts my subwoofers to the test!
Kick sounds better.
After some indecision on my part I finally relented and installed it. The process isn't as easy as YouTube shows it to be. The hole cutting I did with a razor blade while the res. head was still in place, but had to remove it to un-flip the rubber head of the KickPort (I found it impossible to do with the res. head in place). Once I removed the pillow that originally came in my 22" kick, the sound difference is like night and day. My bass now has decent tone, so much less "thump, thump" (no tone just thump). Product is very well made. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is due to the difficulty of installing it.
Great Sound
Adds that extra punch
Good product
Got the new kickport yesterday and installed it. I haven't mic'ed it up yet to hear the difference, but the bass drum sounds great acoustically with it. I thought I'd share a few points in case other drummers have questions about this product:
-the port has a foam seal around the hole of the head. So because I play with a super kick II on the kick side, and a regulator on the resonant, I was able to remove all dampening from the inside of the drum, to get a great fundamental tone.
-on most resonant bass heads with a prefab'ed port hole, the hole is 4.75" in diameter, so the drummer will have to use the template to cut/increase the hole size
-the Aquarians regulator bass resonant head has a felt strip circle around the inside of the head that ends right at the porthole. The millimeter or so thickness causes the kickport to not set flush against the head. Drummers shouldn't be alarmed though because it doesn't appear to affect the sound
KICKPORT FOR BASSDRUM
Great Product! Made my 20 x 16 Pearl Reference kick drum sound
much larger than it looks. Just the right amount of sustain without sounding boomy and uncontrolled.
Verdict still out
I"m not sure yet on the KickPort. I didn"t hear any difference when I installed it. But my resonant bass head is the O.E.M. DW Head. I did change the tuning on both heads down and that helped. But I"m going to get a better Resonant head and install the KickPort in the new head and re-tune and I"ll be back with another review.
If the instructions led to them fitting properly...
...cut exactly to specifications, and let me remind you there is an adhesive ring to follow as a guideline, which I did...
KickPort could not sit in the drum on any level and was just a sloppy piece of crap, with the damage already done with the cut to my resonant head. 10/10 not recommended
Sounds great will cost endless amounts on torn reso heads tho
Sounds great but keeps tearing and splitting my reso bass drum head . Never Had to replace a resident base trim head before since installing the kick port I have bought four in the last year
