I AM AMAZED - These cymbals and the service

By Jack P. from CORPUS CHRISTI, TX
Music Background: Closet drummer since 1970. self taught,

Sweetwater's service is always excellent. The kids love the candy.
Well, I did it. I pulled the trigger on these beautiful cymbals. A definite tonal improvement over the starter Meinl set my last kit came with. The quality of these "Sweet" collection is what you'd expect from Zildjian. If cymbals can be matched, then these are. The 15" Hi-Hats are versatile. The 17 & 19 sweet crashes are warm, crisp and bold if needed. And this freasking 21" sweet ride goes on forever. The bell is pinging. I put on some jazz fusion and went nuts. Switched to some blues and the chicking hi-hats added old fashioned warmth. You can feel them vibrating in the air.
They are thin and forgiving, quicker decay but so blended when struck together. They make me sound better. I love them. If I were you, don't hesitate. these are a steal. JP

Incredible

By Noah from California
Music Background: Over 30yrs drums. Gear enthusiast, weekend warrior musician

I'll start by saying I acquired all these cymbals individually. I can't remember the price of them all but they ain't cheap so if you can afford to get them all together, you won't be disappointed. They're fairly thin so don't get them if you beat the tar out of your gear. They do sound great though. The crashes and hi hats have been on my kit for a few years now. I have lots of rides so I switch those out frequently. The 21" ride is great, has a good bell on it, a little thin so there's a bit of wash to it so beware if you like drier rides. Little bit of gaffer tape can fix that though.
Check out YouTube for great examples of these cymbals, I recommend Memphis Drum Shop's vids. They don't process the sound much at all so it's closer to what you're getting. I think maybe SW has a video but their product videos are pretty highly produced.
If you're new to the sweetwater store, the customer service is the best. Any problems I've ever had were fixed right away without hassle and multiple emails wondering what the plan is which is more than I can say for a recent purchase at the other store I mentioned.

Sweet K's

By GaryD from MA/VA
Music Background: Veteran

As a veteran drummer, I can say these K's are the sweetest. The 15 inch High hats have a resounding measure of sustain & effect. The 21 inch ride while gather no moss & is as sweet as a nut. Don't underestimate the crashes, the 17 & the 19 will rock your world as well as jazz you into every kick. Great choice, 100%!

Sweet sound

By Bob C. from Peterstown, WV

I've had my sweets for a few months now, love everything about them except for stick marks. I use wood tip sticks and they are bad for getting marked up. A fellow drummer suggested using Pledge to remove the marks, works like a charm!

Pretty good cymbals

By NS

After listening to all kinds of demos online, I thought these sounded great. Getting them in person with my kit and in my studio, it's super clear that these have a "sound" to them. These veer on the "gong-like" side of things, dry but complex. They really respond to dynamics, and the crash tone is rich on the 17 and 19. The hats have a nice chick when using the pedal, and the ride is the star of the show for me. Nice dark wash, enough stick definition and a very loud and clear bell.

I had to take a half star off though, because of two things:
The 19" crash sounds VERY close tonally to the ride. That's not to say that it doesn't sound good, but I would much have preferred an 18" just for some separation. The hats have a slight overtone/ring that I found to be a little grating. This seems to have relaxed some after bashing on them for a few hours, but still present.

That said, under a microscope, these record well and I think work nicely in cases where the cymbals need to sit back for a more even kit sound. I don't suspect I'd use these for metal or hip hop, but I think for more indie, RnB, alternative, country, or jazz, I think they sit nicely without being in your face. I think in this series I might try to trade off the 19" for an 18" or 16".

Love the tones

By Ernest from Muncie, IN

Since the 17th century! Can't beat that for consistency and longevity. I shade toward any other brand of cymbals, but Zildjian is the leader, IMO, of cymbal quality, sound, musicality, playability. I am very happy I got the K Sweet line. I love their tone and resonance.

Worth the money

By Brett B. from WAUNAKEE, WI

I never write reviews, but felt impelled to share my appreciation of these cymbals. Was a little nervous about the 15" hats since they're my first set of that size. Now after playing them I have put my 14" new beats in the corner and I expect them to stay there awhile. Everything has exceeded my expectations and the ride also crashes really well. I prefer an 18" in place of the 17", but the 17" is still a nice crash.

Great customer service as always.

Very Musical Cymbal Set

By Tony

This Zildjian K Sweet cymbal set is the best sounding cymbals I have ever played on. It's finally a joy to play my drums again. This purchase was worth every penny!

They are sweet!

By Garry R. from Bristol TN.
Music Background: hobby

Very nice set of cymbals. Absolutely no regrets. Every drummer could use a set of these cymbals in their equipment room. You can buy cymbals by color. You can buy cymbals by finish. And you can buy cymbals that are brand loyal. But, you can't do better than these and not over spend.

Zildjian Cymbals

By Ed from Dale, Iowa
Music Background: 40 years as a drummer

Well I was going to replace all my Paiste I sold with a drum kit. I spent a great deal of time shopping and listening. Long story short, Zildjians have a greater sustain. I loved my Paistes, but for the sound I was looking Zildjians won the vote!

Zildjian Sweets hit the Sweet spot.

By James D. from Clarksville, IN
Music Background: Basement Behemoth on Steroids.

First off, my wife Cindy got this set for me as a Xmas gift. Best wifey ever.

I'm in a basement studio and I did not need any cymbols that would cut our heads off. Just not needed in my case. I wanted some cymbols that would be easier to record and not cover my toms up in practice jams etc. these cymbols are perfect for my needs and o my they sound good, actually they sound great . They're not tearing our heads off , they blend in very well with my Pearl decade maple 13-16-24 and a 18 on the way. They're not harsh in any way whatsoever, I have not heard a bad sound out of any of them. Very musical and you have total control over them. You want wash on the ride, you got it, you want ping, you got it, you want bell and yes you want bell, best bell I have heard. It's killer. The 19" crash , nice full sound but not over powering . Very nice , opens up and it doesn't sustain for days on end, makes it easier to record and it's a great sounding cymbol. The 17" crash, honestly it's sounds very good as well but imo it doesn't hold up against the 21" ride and 19" crash. It's just a tad to low in volume . Now that said, it's very useable as a accent cymbol and I'm running it in place of a splash cymbol. It opens up fast and has a fast decay so that's how I'm using it. It works great and won't interfere with vocals.
The 15" hats, not as bright as 14" hats but I'm in love with them. Just something about 15" hats.they pair great with the other cymbols, same tone and character . I could seriously talk about them all day, they're perfect .

Overall this set is a great fit , they hit the sweet spot for sure. The only thing I wish Zildjian would do is ditch the 17" and put in a 18" or 20" . It just doesn't hold up to the 19" and 21" cymbols. It's minor to me because it does sound good and it's very usable. I play mostly rock/ hard rock and im running bigger drum sizes so in my case I like bigger cymbols, 18" 19" 20" all seem to due the job. 16" 17" just don't have it .
We knew it came with the pack and it's all fine but I thought it needed to be mentioned. I'm still happy as can be, we have recorded 2 songs so far and these babies mic up good and are easy to work with.
P.S. that ride has one helluva crash .

Amazing cymbal pack!

By Austin from Spitler

These sounds amazing! The 15in hi-hats are wonderful with a nice chick and a great sizzle. The Crashes are out of this world. The 19in specifically might be my favorite cymbal I've ever played. And of course the Sweet Ride is second to none. Very musical cymbal pack!

The Only Set Of Cymbals You’ll Ever Need!!!

By Michael R. from Smithfield
Music Background: Drummer, Producer, Sound Engineer

One size fits all has never really worked for me and I'm not a fan of "jack of all" as something is bound to lack. That's certainly not the case with these K Sweet cymbals. I play a vast verity of genres and these cymbals are absolutely perfect in every situation. I'm extremely please with the dark warm sound combined with the perfect balance of highs to adequately cut through the mix. I've owned and played many of the highest end cymbals from various brands and these are the very best I've ever owned. It's not even close! I'm well pleased and look forward to purchasing all the other sizes. Great job Zildjian!!!

Great Sound

By Russ W. from Conway, NH

The K Sweet series was a major upgrade from my Sabian XSRs. Not only do they look and sound good, it's also not your typical 14", 16", 18", 20" cymbal pack.

The 15" hats sit very well in the mix, not clangy and kwashy like some of the other packs with thicker hats. Definitely not too chunky or dark. This is what I've always imagined what they should sound like.

I wasn't a fan of the 19" crash at first. Someone had mentioned that the extra thin cymbals do not sustain very long, but this one has quite the sustain and also get a little louder wash after the crash. In using it in the last few weeks, and a little technique adjustment I've come to really like it.

The 21" ride, no matter where you hit this thing it has awesome sound, the thinner edge gives you excellent crash, my favorite part is right where the bow and bell meet, for the music I play anyway (rock, metal).

Saved the best (i.m.o.) for last, the 17" crash is by far one of the best cymbals I have ever heard. It has become my Go To cymbal for crash, crash ride. Nice attack, not excessive sustain, but doesn't just disappear either. Not too high, not too dark, but juuust right!

Now, I've read the other reviews and I have to agree, this cymbal pack is a bit on the pricey side, and I do understand what it takes to make a cymbal, and Zildjian has been doing this for a long time so I trust they made them right. Easy to get with Sweetwaters Credit Card and long term no interest financing. Would have been a great package if they threw in a case or a cymbal bag. That's My Take, and I hope this helps someone with their decision.

A definite upgrade

By JDG from Goddard, KS
Music Background: Cover bands, classic rock, country, etc.

Been playing the same mix matched set of used Zildjian A cymbals forever and decided to try something new.

This pack is perfect for me both in terms of the cymbal sizes, as well as the fact you can play them in virtually any genre and they will sound fantastic.

Price tag is a little steep in my opinion, but they say Zildjian on them so that explains that.

Highly recommend!

Fantastic Cymbals

By Tom from Spokane, Washington

I've been playing the same cymbals for 30 years which include a mix of Zildjian A's, A Custom's and Z's, but wanted to get something a little warmer and dry. I was looking at cymbal pack's to help lessen the cost but typically found I only liked three of the four cymbals. That was until I found the K Sweet's. They are fantastic! The ride and crashes are everything I hoped for but the show stopper are the hats. Big, bold and beautiful! These cymbals are worth every penny!

K Sweets

By Ron from St Charles
Music Background: Professional drummer for over 30 years. All genres.

I've been using Paiste 2002's for many years now. Prior to the 2002's I used A Zildjians.
These K sweet hats have a softer smooth almost buttery darkness. The 17" and 19" crash are perfectly tuned to one another and the 21" ride has a crust clean bell. The ride is slightly dark sweet. The sweets rock out when needed.
With the option of using the Sweets or the 2002's I can cover all genres with cymbals that sound fantastic.
