Super slaps!!!

Best money I ever spent. KRK 4 life!

Integrates well with Amphion One15 speaker pair!

By Scott L Daley from Sebastopol, CA on June 26, 2023 Music Background: Several decades of pro audio work including as a musician and live and recording engineer experience. I run a dedicated recording studio where I now mix mainly jazz, classical and light rock and folk, and choir work.

I love my Amphion One15 speakers, which go down to about 49hz, but wanted to also be able to selectively hear that missing bottom octave to check certain bass heavy mixes. The KRK S10.4 subwoofer I purchased from Sweetwater does the trick VERY well.

Setting the built-in variable crossover on the KRK to 60 or a bit higher, adjusting the KRK volume control a bit, and using the KRK subwoofer in-or-out jack for instant comparisons, I CAN now add in the bottom octave--without seeming to compromise the stellar sound of the Amphion speakers.

Note that when you switch out the KRK using it's built-in jack, you then hear your primary speaker pair again without any loss of their bottom end--i.e. not only is the subwoofer turned off, but the sub crossover is no longer rolling off your primary speaker pair. Perfect. It's a match made in heaven!

I think the KRK 8" sub would have worked well too, but happy I went with the 10" as it should work great if I move up to one of the larger Amphion speakers.

KRK S10.4

By Sweetwater Customer on December 20, 2022

Very solid sub, great low end and sounds a bit warm so if you like that then this is definitely for you. Good higher range responses too along with the knobs to really fine tune how you listen to music. I would suggest this to anyone

If I knew then what I know now....

I would have bought a studio subwoofer years ago. Originally, I wanted a s12, but like most things, was out of stock. So I decided to try the s10. After playing with the settings this thing kicks !!! It matches great with my HS8s. It provides low end reinforcement and lets the soundstage open up like I was not expecting. I'm very pleasantly surprised. Now I feel confident in hearing the mix. For a normal bedroom this would be enough but I am in a large room so I will be getting an s12 and moving this to a bedroom. For what you get the price is right. Definitely worth it.

In love with this sub!

Best sub I've owned thus far. At this point I only buy KRK products. Several years back I had the JBL 10" down firing sub and it was pretty decent but I ended up selling it cuz I didn't care for it much anymore. This S10.4 however blows the JBL away! I only bought the JBL because I know it's a familiar name in home audio so I thought well if anyone knows how to make a quality subwoofer it's JBL, I was wrong, I guess studio speakers aren't their forte. KRK however slays the studio game. KRK just makes quality products at very affordable price. I could tell right away how good of quality this product was as soon as I unboxed it, nice looking and very heavy for how small it is. I actually own the previous version of this sub but the 12" model and that thing is a beast, so much so that it's actually too much for my application so getting the 10" was perfect. With just a little less power and smaller profile it's a much better fit for my room. Im running this sub with a pair of KRK Classic 7's, perfect set up. I know that typically you want the sub to sit right in the middle of your monitors for a balanced sound but I just hate having it under my desk where I like to have my feet so I have it a little off to the side but it's angled towards me and honestly it sounds great. I have decent, small to medium sized bedroom and this baby rattles the walls and my window, and I haven't even turned it up that much. I was test bumping it the day I got it and I thought I was pushing it pretty hard cuz it sounded very good and was making things shake but when I looked at the actually yellow cone expecting to see that it was moving a lot it was barely moving at all! This S10 has some serious power. Who knew 160 watts was so capable. I first I thought this S10 kinda looked like an oversized Rockit 8 laying on its side but I have Rockit 8's and this sub dwarfs them. Then I thought it looks more like the Rockit 10 but even the Rockit 10 looks a little wimpy compared to the S10. Beefier enclosure and beefier driver. I don't think there's any good replacement for a nice subwoofer.

Best 10 inch for the price! Get this one.

Don't waste your money on the Adam, The Presonus, Yamaha or the JBL. A complete waste of time when comparing against this little sub. Either the people who are submitting reviews have no idea what they're talking about or they are fake news (get it). Manufactures are lying about the frequency responses of they're product. This little guy "beats for real" and she goes way lower than the others.
My main monitors are JBL 708 P's and I purchased them when they were $ bucks a piece, and this KRK is the only budget friendly sub that could hang with them and I've had them all! The 708 P's ate the Adam, Presonus, and the Lsr Jbl Sub's Alive. None of them could hang with them but the KRK stands it's ground. The controls are much better as well.
Good Job KRK…

Great product

My first KRK S10 sub lasted 14 years…this one seems to do it's job perfectly.

Finally, a Little Low-End

By j on February 9, 2022

After years of composing and mixing on a pair of Rock-It 5's in my condo, I've moved into a house, and the S10.4 is filling that hole in the low-end. Admittedly, using this sub in a smallish bedroom does present challenges achieving a flat frequency response, but I'd much prefer this small issue versus nothing under 70 Hz at all. If you take the time to set this up according to the instructions and using the test tones you can download from KRK, you should love the result. My buddy came over to check it out and said, "No one can evaluate a sub without listening to some Ice Cube." So that happened, and we both happily approved.

S10.4 Studio Sub

Goes well with my Rocket 8's. Nice tight response allowing me to contour the bottom of my mixes. Very versatile settings as well.

Incredible, affordable bass

By Sweetwater Customer on December 5, 2021

I hadn't realized just how much of the frequency spectrum that I was missing out on until this bad boy came into my studio. Now, I hear it all in great detail. I highly recommend pairing it with Mogami Gold cables for a pristine signal. Thanks for the recommendation Zach! Sweetwater has some of the best for advice.

Superb for studio editing

By Phil Graham on July 2, 2021

I would highly recommend this sub. It offers great control, expression and quality that surpasses any sub in its class I researched. The KRK 10.4s is worth every penny and then some. The ability to quickly control balance and frequency will be helpful for a variety of gear and environment studio setups. The built-in bypass jack is a great time saver for editing, and most importantly, the sound is truly incredible. If you are shopping for a studio sub, the KRK 10.4s should be on your short list.

Nice and loud

By Cole Brundage from Albion, MI on July 18, 2022

Nice and loud, clear, pounding bass. Falls off at 50hz. Using this with HS7's and have to use the 90hz crossover which sounds best.

Good to have

By Sweetwater Customer on December 19, 2023

Great sounding, great quality sub. It's not necessary to have for a home studio(in my opinion), but wow am I happy I have it when I'm toggling it on and off to see what's happening in the really low end. Most music is played on devices that don't reach down this low but when you do play your music on a full system you'll be thankful you had this sub to dial that in.

Should Be Better

By Michael Gehring from Los Angeles, Ca on April 9, 2022 Music Background: Studio Owner/Producer

Yes, the KRK-S10.4 is feature rich and if all you are concerned with is general low extension then you have it. Unfortunately, after further testing I found random frequency peaks above the crossover points. Particularly around 600hz. It shouldn't be too difficult to hard cut frequencies but that is not happening with the S10.4. Through my rep I tried to get some answers and basically I figuratively got the equivalence of a shoulder shrug. I emailed KRK and never even got the courtesy of a response. It is hard to recommend a company that ignores the end user.

If you simply want thump than you will get it. If you want sonic reliability, you are better off spending more on something with a more precise crossover.
