Visually stunning. So much fun to play very hot sound really fast neck.loads of sustain.stays in tune well I have three dozen and this one gets it twice a day do the math it's really hard to put down. Felipe always gets me a good deal on a great axe, and Sweetwater service behind it I have looked but not found a better place to buy my guitars so I quit looking and I keep getting great deals. I'm completely fine with it

Kramer Baretta Special

By Sweetwater Customer from MI on August 24, 2023

This guitar is so fun and comfortable to play. Came ready to play right out of the box with just some very minor tuning needed. I absolutely love to play this guitar and it sounds darn good also definitely a great budget guitar.

I absolutely love it. I saw the purple and thought about grimace. I bought the guitar and then found grimace face on red bubble. I'm blown away on how good the pickup is also.

Iconic 80's

By John from South Carolina on April 13, 2023 Music Background: Cat from the 80's ,Plays for fun/entertainment

Great guitar for beginner, simple but very effective, and loves the distortion. Frets were smooth and level, paint was perfect as well.Without the locking Floyd rose you can quickly drop tune, trem works well get your dive bombs,squeals,bends/and all the fun for not a lot of money, you will probably need to tune more often tho, just the nature of the trem system, perfect addition to any guitar collection thanks again sweetwater

Awesome

By Stephen C Barone from Long Island, New York on December 5, 2022 Music Background: Metal, hard Rock

Such a simple and fun instrument! I haven't been able to put it down. Love the color as well it brings back all the 80s hits into my head. The neck is pretty fast too and with a fresh set of strings it would scream. Great guitar for anyone starting out and if you've been jammin for a while. Will definitely leave a smile on your face

Incredible feel, playability, sound and price!!!

By Jay Jay from Northern Utah on November 17, 2022 Music Background: Been playing guitar since 1977!!!

I had high expectations for this guitar before I even received it. After receiving it, I got exactly what I expected. A guitar that not only looked great, but it felt, played and sounded incredible. What an outstanding guitar for its price point. I believe if someone told you they paid $400 for this guitar, you wouldn't doubt em for a second. That's how nice these guitars are.

I've been playing guitar for many decades. I've had expensive guitars, and guitars that I've built myself, just so I could have exactly what I wanted in a shredder. And this one ranks with the best of any that I've ever built. And for a lot less money.

I'd recommend this guitar to anyone who's looking for a well built inexpensive guitar, no matter your skill and experience level. I wish they'd had guitars like these when I first started playing. I would have been in hog Heaven.

If ya don't have one yet..GET ONE!! Ya won't be sorry. I promise!!

Best Value guitar.... Period..!!

By Terrence Neary from Ocala, FL on September 16, 2022 Music Background: 40 plus years Vocalist, 35 years Guitarist, Guitar Builder/Customizer

Now, I have to admit, my plans were always to completely Mod this guitar. That being said, regardless, If i would have purchased a body, Neck etc. With i ended up,using another neck, stricktly of esthetics alone, It would have cost so much more..! Even before Modding it, it played great..! I sold the original neck, and used a similar one, with a Rosewood Fretboard, as i didn't like the maple with the Purple body. Ill the other components have also been Upgraded..! I liked it so much I both a blue one as well.! That still has the original neck and Body.! you can see in the photo where you can take this guitar to the next level and beyond, and still be way under the cost of a Baretta 84 model..!

Great guitar for the price.

By Sweetwater Customer on February 13, 2022 Music Background: Hobbyist

After watching some positive review videos online for this inexpensive Kramer I thought I'd try one out. Besides, at that price it would be a fun guitar to modify/customize. What I found was I really liked the neck, very comfortable to play plus the stock pickup sounds just fine. I think it's a good beginner guitar for the money which I'm using as a base for a project/custom guitar (just bought a second one to mod).

Great guitar for the price!

By Aaron from Vancouver, WA on November 7, 2021 Music Background: Been playing for around 30 years.

Love this guitar! Great resonance and plays as well as any of my more expensive guitars. Highly recommended if you're looking for a good quality no-frills guitar.

Absolutely incredible

By Leah Duffey from Oklahoma on October 22, 2021 Music Background: Complete beginner

I was definitely a little concerned beforehand about the quality of the guitar. The price is low, but the quality is incredible. It is beautifully made, and everything was in really great shape when it arrived. I have seen other reviews on different sites about this guitar's frets where they have said they were sharp or rough, but mine are perfectly fine. This guitar is definitely worth it, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Plus, the customer service from Sweetwater is exceptional. My representative kept in touch with me and was very helpful. The quality of the products and the quality of the customer service will 100% make me a returning customer.

The proof.

I played the Baretta special stock pickup on this song . Only change was flipped left handed and Ernie Ball strings. You be the judge in the video posted .

Killer deal.

By Brandon Coyne from San Diego, CA on December 21, 2020

If I knew it'd be this good, I would've bought two. Fit and finish are superb and the neck is incredible -fretwork is the best I've seen for this price and super inviting.

Beautiful Purple Guitar!!!!

By Mike L from Vancouver, Wa on December 19, 2020 Music Background: Hobbyist for over 30yrs.

WOW...!!!!!! The color and finish are top notch, the action and frets aren't bad at all, especially at this price point. It's a single bridge pickup design, so more of a rocker guitar. I'll save the non-distorted sounds for my Fender's. So far I've ran it through my fender twin w/ distortion pedals (Zakk Wylde Overdrive + EHX Big Muff Opamp) w/ amp spring reverb and it sounds great!! Stays in tune fairly well, but the volume knob is pretty much off or on, not much of a roll back option. Kudos to Robert Kramer for hooking me up with this sweet guitar!!!!

Did not disappoint

By David Porfirio from New Jersey on November 5, 2020 Music Background: Instrumental Guitarist and Composer

I received my Baretta in October. Not long after the passing of the man who inspired me to consider this guitar of course the one and only Edward Van Halen. This guitar smokes . I'm left handed and flipped the strings and no trem yet . The neck is flat , fast and comfortable. Best shred style neck I ever played including Jacksons and Ibanez the Kramer smokes them all . The pickup is a bit harsh I may change to a Dimarzio Norton. The Mahogany body is resonant and sustain is killer . I'm buying 2 more flipping left handed one will be a parts for a strat. Killer value killer guitar . I may post a video shortly .

A lot of fun for a cheap price

By Michael Wente from Nashville, TN on June 16, 2023

This guitar is a bunch of fun, and I really like the feel of the neck. However, it will not stay in tune so keep that in mind. You will have to spend a little extra to replace some of the stock equipment, but i was expecting that when i bought this. I'm gonna start with the nut and locking tuners and see how it goes from there. MAy update my review.

If you don't have One already WHY ???

By Aaron Manderscheid from Baytown, TX on December 14, 2022

You don't have to Mod this guitar at all and it will sound good and be ready after a string change and a quick checkup . Now if you want to Mod you can turn this into a stage reliable Guitar with locking tuners and a Tusq Nut . I have done this and plan to do more but it is fine good out of the box and into an AMP. !! Buy One just to have one . I got the Purple and its unique looking and a quality paint job no matter the color .

Amazing guitar, great modding platform

By Brian from Viginia on December 8, 2022 Music Background: Profession, Former Line 6 clinician, EMG and BlackStar amps artist

I'm a pro guitarist, and received the guitar as a Christmas gift, early. The hype is true. I had watched a few videos on YouTube, and honestly, the mods don't have to be done. Of course, since I'm taking it on stage, I added the EVH Bourne's Pot, locking tuners, and debating on either a Frankie or Wolfgang pickup. Removing on spring does give the trem a better feel, and it stayed in tune ok with the regular tuners, I just prefer locking.
Clip the capacitor on the volume, and you get a better taper. I digress. There are tons of videos on YouTube to show you how to make this guitar a beast. It was set up well from Sweetwater, comfy neck, and is exactly what it looks like...a really great 80s rock guitar. Older with confidence. It's awesome.

Killer Kramer sound

By Joe from Massachusetts on October 9, 2021 Music Background: Bass and guitar player

A fantastic guitar. Plays extremely well at this price point. The maple neck and fret board are top notch.
You not be disappointed with this axe. Sweetwater is a great company to order from. Not just guitars but for all the musicians need. I ordered my KBS from them , there was shipping issues to start of with. In no time did the pros over Sweetwater get on it. With un a short time from my delivery date it showed up in perfect condition. Not to mention but the box it came in was rather cool too.
Thanks Sweetwater for all your help with getting me my beautiful Kramer Baretta special. You guys are girls ROCK

Great player to mod.

By John King from RUSSELLVILLE, AR on October 11, 2021 Music Background: Playing guitar since 1976.

Guitar looks great and sounds great. Had to replace the block on the bridge, the trem bar wouldn't screw in it so I had a GFS upgrade lying around anyway so it wasn't a big deal. I knew it had a cheap bridge on it when I ordered it. Replaced the tuners with Gotoh Magnum locking tuners in cosmo black. Stays in tune a lot better. There are a couple of things I may do to it to improve it in the future. The neck, the body and the stock pickup are all great! The guitar plays incredibly well, the frets are perfect! For the price, I can't complain about the little things. It's a great guitar, just expect to do a little upgrading here and there.

Special?

By Lars from Here on November 18, 2022

I bought one of these just for fun as a sort of project guitar.
For the price point, it is actually pretty nice.
The guitar has a plastic nut but, in spite of that, has really good sustain.
The trem block is thin but, again, no real major negative impact.
Some review videos i watched made me expect the volume pot would basically be an on/off switch. Not so here. It is quite nice, actually.
The painted finish is nice.
Neck pocket isn't exactly state of the art but, ok.
Most review videos said the fret work was excellent. Not here. The frets on this guitar were horrendous. I would have to say the factory must have pressed them in and then were done. Six high frets needed to be leveled/rounded. Additionally, for the frets 10 thru 13 to be so bad, i think packaging must have allowed strings to grind against them constantly as the instrument toured to world in shipping. That or I don't know what. ALL the frets were as rough as 120 grit sandpaper. I have bought kit guitars that had better frets.
For anyone buying a guitar just to have something inexpensive to upgrade, this is fun to mess around with.
For a beginner wanting to learn to play and looking for an inexpensive starter, this isn't the best choice. I don't know if most beginners would know how to do what needs done to make this playable.
I mean, Gibson, c'mon! Quality Control?
Sweetwater should perhaps let Gibson know that some flaws are unacceptable at any price point.
Still, for me, i have to say, i like it. After much, It now plays nice, sounds good, and is fun. It is nice to have in my collection as a guitar i can let kick around without worry of care. It serves a purpose.
