K&M 259 Low Tripod Mic Stand - Black

By Bryan Wehrli from Dixon, NM on January 23, 2024

This stand works great for me when seated and using a mic for the guitar. Very strong, easy to adjust, etc.

Pleasantly Surprised

By Jeb Tipton from Indiana on March 27, 2023 Music Background: Drummer Jr. High band all the way to playing bars, clubs, even churches.

I received 2 K&M 259s as part of a microphone package. I opened the boxes thinking, "yep another wobbly plastic microphone stand." I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed the weight of the box and sure enough they are born of METAL! These 2 little booms ended up being my favorite part of the mic package and I will be buying more! Everything stays in place, comes with cable clips that are simple and awesome, even the knobs are great! If you are tired of wimpy little plastic boom stands...these are for you !

K&M make a great mic stand. It's easy to adjust and the boom stays where you put it without falling down. Super quality .

K &M Low mic stand

By Bruce Grankowski on June 20, 2022

I am very pleased with the quality of this mic stand. Its easy to adjust and maneuver and hold the mic without dropping down. At first I thought it was a little on the expensive side, but the quality is superior to other stands I have.

Good Stand

Excelent quality. The size is perfect for recording my guitar in a chair. For vocals is small to me.

Quality. Period.

By Joseph J. from Roanoke, VA on July 27, 2021 Music Background: Musician and vocalist since 1965

I have used K&M mic stands since the late 1970's. No other stand compares. Solid construction. It works and works and works. This low profile stand is perfect for those of us who sit while we perform. The boom stays out of the way of my line of sight to the sheet music on the music stand while I sit, play guitar and sing. This stand costs more than others, but is well worth the investment.

Nice stand!

By Mark daspot from Michigan on June 17, 2021 Music Background: Working Musician

Well what's there to say? um.. it didn't fall over, and it is a nice shade of black!

Nicely built heavy duty.

Would I recommend this stand, or purchase it again? You betcha!

Great for the right applicatiion

By Mike from Denver on May 31, 2021 Music Background: Psychedelic, face melting jammer (just kidding)

I use it for running the boom through a GuitARF to keep my dynamic mic in phase with my ribbon. Works great for that and for kick drums as well or mixing any amp / cab that's sitting low without using a full size stand / boom.

Nice stand, great quality for package deal product

By Philip from Georgia on January 23, 2021

This stand can move just about any way imaginable and stays there. A+ in my book

Quality Stand! Why NOT properly support your quality microphone?

By Jules from South GA on July 23, 2020 Music Background: drums and other stuff since 1988

I bought this in a great package deal with an Audix i5. I want to confidence of having a good heavy stand to properly and securely support a good and somewhat heavy microphone.

K&M Excellent Quality Mic Stand

By Mike Byerly from St Louis Missouri on June 19, 2018 Music Background: Drum in two working bands

I bought this mic stand to mic up my snare drum.

Its a high quality, very heavy duty mic stand.
Its low profile works perfectly for miking up snares, on top, or underneath.

It works well for miking hi - hats as well.

Does not get any better than this!

K&M 25900

By Ben Moffatt from Plant City, FL on January 27, 2018 Music Background: 40 yrs as musician, engineer & producer

Bought a demo for a few dollars less. Excellent condition. Great stand and stability. Being used for guitar amp & acoustic guitar with a ribbon mic. Stable & secure. Worth the extra money, particularly if you're using expensive high end microphones.

Great Stand

Perfect for hi hats, snare, kik drum, guitar amps, durable & it don't move!

Perfect mic for both home and portable use

By Sweetwater Customer from San Francisco, CA USA on January 23, 2013 Music Background: Professional Voice Over Actor

Needed a solid mic stand for my portable recording studio. This mic stand is sturdy, solid and collapses to become small enough to fit in my carry on roller bag along with my microphones, audio capture devices and cables. I was truly blown away how perfect it was for my needs.

Solid

By Santino from Colorado on March 21, 2019 Music Background: Recording/Live Drummer

This is a solid stand, period. Yeah, I agonized about paying that much for a short stand. However, after using a couple during a recording session, I decided these were the stands I wanted. I expect it to have at least three times the lifetime of the cheaper brand which offsets the cost. I'll be buying more.

excellent

By Bertrand Laurence from cambridge, MA on November 8, 2017 Music Background: musician/teacher

Use it for sit-down acoustic guitar, where placement is crucial. This mic stand makes it Easy to target and hold a sweet spot. No wobbles anywhere . Love it so much I got a pair.

Sturdy and Solid!

By D from Chicago, IL on October 25, 2016 Music Background: Guitarist

This is a solidly made little stand, and made mic positioning for my acoustic guitar recordings much simpler and more effective.

Buy it

By Sweetwater Customer on March 30, 2015 Music Background: Gigging musician/local recording engineer

Has some weight. Solid. Shaved off half a point because I like my gear to be all metal and built like a tank. This is close. The few parts that are plastic feel dense, heavy, and solid. Not light and flimsy like cheaper stands. Not worried about breaking it anytime soon. This thing is perfect for placing microphones on guitar cabinets and the underside of a snare drum.

K&M, worth it

By d makins from Sewanee, TN on February 18, 2015 Music Background: Artist, Producer

Worth it, go ahead and by this heavier one vs. the cheap stuff. Versatile for the studio and perfect for live mic on acoustic. Studio tight / road tough.

Low profile mic stand

By Charles Silverman from New Braunfels Texas on February 16, 2020 Music Background: Acoustic singer/songwriter (part-time) and home recording enthusiasts.

This stand seems well made and sturdy. The height is great for the intended application of recording my acoustic guitar while sitting in a chair. The finish is attractive and professional appearing!

Worth It and Travels Really, Really Well

By immersifi from Ann Arbor, MI on March 28, 2013 Music Background: Binaural Recording Engineer / Sound Quality & NVH Engineering

I'll admit that compared to oterh stands this is indeed a bit pricey. On the other hand, I have very high praise for this stand. I bought this primarily because I needed something that would fit in a carry-on yet would be easily and quickly re-assembled at the gig; I was able to easily disassemble it and was surprised by just how little space this does occupy. Also, I wanted something that would afford me options in terms of setting the elevation of the microphone and still have stability.

Mind you, I used and use this to position a Neumann type KU 100 mannequin head microphone, which is rather massive (I think around 7 lb.), so that's why I specifically mentioned stability - pretty important with such a microphone mounted on it.

The tri-pod base is very helpful in this application because it allows the mannequin head microphone to be positioned slightly either side of the balance point and the stand not tip over. Of course, you have to respect physics and gravity (and this is without a counter-balance mass mounted on the boom), but this did a great job in allowing me some flexibility in microphone angle and orientation that would have been difficult with a stand of lesser build quality. With an optional counter-balance mass I can see how this could be very useful for massive mics (such as the KU 100) mounted horizontally, or if you were to use this as a camera platform.

I don't know that I would drop the coin for having every one of my mic stands of this build-quality, but in instances where you do need stability, physical articulation (i.e. to extend / angle the stand in unusual positions), or you have something atop the stand that is a bit pricey and delicate, then I'd defintiely say that these are worth it.

Construction is solid and the finish is first-rate. Adaptable to many mic situations. Definitely worth it.

Solid, easily adjustable

By Steve Sullivan from Shreveport, LA on April 18, 2012 Music Background: Recording Engineer

Very good quality. Sturdy, solid build seems to isolate well from floor-borne vibrations. K & M is a little more expensive but while my cheaper stands need replacing, my K & M stands are barely showing wear. Buying cheap stands twice cost more than buying these once.

Sturdy but threads were easily stripped on adjustable arm

By Hank from Las Vegas, NV on December 14, 2022 Music Background: Church tech team

I got almost a year of moderate (mostly weekly) use from this sturdy mic stand. Unfortunately, someone picked it up improperly by the arm and it stripped the threads on the part shown that attaches the arm to the base pole. I'm looking for a replacement part now and hoping I don't have to buy a whole new stand because of one part. Be sure to pick this stand up by the base!

Didn't last as long as I wanted

By Sweetwater Customer on October 7, 2020

First of all, I gig ALOT. 6-7 shows a week. This stand was great, but the threading started to go on the boom after about 6 months, it was very wobbly. I ordered a new boom, and same thing happened after another 6 months, now the boom is holding by duct tape and I may try the Atlas Stand next since I thought this product would never break. Also, the Tripod legs lost their firmness awhile ago like most cheap stands, and the adjustor for the height isn't as solid as it was either. I think this stand would work great for someone who may "set it and forget it", but not built for hard gigging.
