Sturdy
Wanted a boom arm specifically for a heavy Shure 55SH and I heard from a few oldtimers that K&M was the best.
The boom itself doesn't look much different than others but looks ARE deceiving. The clamping is super strong and it holds my 55 securely and easily without any slippage. The turning effort on the clamp is ridiculously low, making for easy adjustments.
The telescoping feature is amazing,.. it makes adjustments subtle and makes the mic stand look cleaner.
I plan to eventually buy a counterweight even though it's not absolutely necessary.
And the price is super low.... I absolutely would buy another and recommend this boom to anyone!

K & M... name says it all
Quality, that's all that needs to be said here. Buy K & M and you're buying it once.
Boom arm
Well built...game changer
Great little boom arm but I also added an extension
I bought the K&M 21140 Boom Arm - Black with the K&M folding amp stand and it works great with one modification. I added a boom arm extension in order to reach the center of the speaker on my amp. I used the On-Stage MSA9502 Posi-Lok 7 inch Mini Boom to extend the reach of the boom arm, which gave me more control over positioning the microphone. It means the K&M boom arm is not fully extended so there is some flexibility in placement. The K&M boom arm works great and securely locks the SM57 microphone in place so I can mic the amp. I really like K&M products and am very happy with my purchase.
Get the best and forget the rest
K&m gear. Does it cost more? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. If you're gonna get a mic stand, a boom, a tablet holder, a keyboard stand, whatever, get something GOOD. It only costs a little bit more to go first class. And then you won't have to settle for inferior performance from gear that is lacking
Look no further!
This company by far makes the best boom arm I have ever used! Look no further! As a professional musician, educator and performer for over 50 years I have had nothing but crappy booms that sag. THIS IS THE BEST!
Rubber washers in the joint of the boom ensure no drooping and a secure mic. I am using a heavy duty recording microphone and it is perfect. Very high quality and for $... it's worth every penny.
K&M convert
Recent K&M stand purchase has won me over to this quality equipment. Well worth the extra cost for build/design quality adding up to longevity in service
works very well for intended purpose
Well made product!
Outstanding
The fact that this product is made in Germany and NOT made in China automatically makes it worth buying.
Outstanding quality and durability.
Highly recommended!
Can't go wrong
I have a lot of On Stage stands and like them very much, but K&M is a rung higher on the quality ladder. The two brands work in similar ways, but in my experience K&M lasts longer and can stand more abuse.
Finally, a boom that holds
I have a small production studio space so large format boom stands or tripod stands just don't always work out for me. I use standard round bottom cheap stands and I pass the pole through a 5 lb weight from a weight set before screwing it into the base. Not fancy, but very practical for my space.
I have searched for years for a boom stand that holds my heavy condensers without sagging. I have found it with the K & M 21140 Boom Arm. I ordered one to test it on my Shure SM5b mics and it stayed up for over 24 hours without sagging even a 1/4 inch. I have put condenser mics on it as well and it held. I ordered three more from Michael Eads, from whom I have been buying gear for over 20 years. We always have delightful conversation about how old we are getting, LOL but he always has the product knowledge that I need. Kudos, Michael and kudos SW for having this boom in your inventory.
It's a keeper
I think I have five of these now. Started with one, but found I could use several and went back to this one every time. The last one I mounted to a flange screwed down to a shelf on a six inch riser above my keyboard. I was always afraid of a mike stand being too far extended and crashing down on the piano. This unit can swivel and adjust to any length I need and also compresses short enough to never be in the way. I also use one inside of my kick drum mounted off of a 1 1/2 rack tube. It is rock solid and stays where I tell it. It clamps very tight and the cable clamps work perfect as well. I may need more of them.
K&M 21140
Well made; very sturdy. I'm hesitant to buy boom arms because so many of them are cheap and tend to start sagging quickly. While I just received a couple of these, they seem very sturdy and are holding up well under their initial use. I will say, I wish it was a tad bit longer of an arm, but I'm sure you can buy longer boom arms from the same company if needed.
An excellent replacement for my stripped mic stand section
This is an excellent replacement for my stripped microphone stand section, which was difficult to remain in one position until it stripped so much where it attached to the base that it became unusable. This was relatively inexpensive and should last me a while. I fill it will also strip over time...
K&M 21140 Boom Arm
Works like a charm, really like its nice German make.
Almost there…
The issue with this boom, and most k&m stands is that they take a bunch of force to keep them from
Drooping, spinning, loosening, ect. But the knobs are to small, weak, and ergonomically deficient that they are just annoying to try and tighten. I don't like most of my k&m stand and I have to constantly retighten and hurt my hands. Teeth would be preferable to the slippage inherent with the rubber pad approach that is used in the main rotational mechanism. This stand would slowly droop while holding up an iPhone.. yes an iPhone. Again I can get it to stay but it hurts my hands.
