Great sturdy mic boom.
I also like the ability to adjust the different parts.

Ordered as a replacement for a broken boom. This one is much better than the previous one I had.

K&M 21120 2-piece Telescopic Mic Boom

By Kerry Joe Ayres from Way Down South London Town (not really London) on February 6, 2023 Music Background: 60 year vet at age 67, God is good!

I had a K&M Boom Mic Stand that I bought years ago with money my Mom gave me to buy myself a Christmas present from her....what a cool present from a cool Mom...she passed away nearly 20 years ago, miss her every day, but that tells you how long I had the boom stand...it gave up on me a couple years back, came apart, possibly from mishandling (you know how some people like to adjust stand position without loosening the adjusting screws, this may have caused it to fail, it wasn't me, I know better). Any way, I had on hand an On Stage brand tripod stand and was using it with a gooseneck and needed more reach....I looked at the K&M boom stands to replace my old one, but honestly they are priced on up there, I know if you want quality you pay for it, made in Germany, all that jazz, but having the On Stage tripod stand on hand, I looked at the K & M booms to find one that met my needs and the 21120 is as close as I found; I wanted:

- good reach ---who wants a 24 inch boom, a gooseneck will almost get you there, check;
- solid reliable construction - check;
- fair price - non-working, retired musician, don't like to (can't) just toss money away, check;
- 2 piece boom so fine adjustments can be made near the mic, not having to reach all the way to the stand itself, check;
- I like to buy from trusted sources when possible = Sweetwater, check!
- Oh, and free shipping! Everyone likes free shipping.

So, I pulled the trigger and bought from Sweetwater off Ebay...quick shipping, arrived in good condition, now holding
my vocal mic in good reach for singing as it is threaded in amongst my cymbal stands, snare stand and hi-hat stand.
Holds the mic in place well....it is best to have one of the tripod legs pointing in the same direction as the boom itself for
best balance when the boom nears full extension, which is where I need it

Just a couple of heads ups if you are considering one:

- the brake assembly comes unassembled with the large bolt with large plastic handle (or black plastic wing nut if you prefer) placed in a separate
little plastic bag;
when I was taking it out of the box, the brake parts (two rubber discs, metal boom attachment and metal washer) all fell into
the floor and I had to figure out how to put it back together...no instructions on how to do that were included. Why it didn't come assembled I don't
know...also, the little string that attached the plastic bag which held the big screw with large plastic handle became tangled in the threads of the
bolt and I had to use needle nose pliers to get it out...don't know if I mishandled it but it was a bugger to get the little elastic string out of the
threads.

Also, the boom is advertised as giving a 37 inch reach and this is not completely true...the fully extended boom measures 37 inches from tip to tip, but there is a 2 1/2 inch plastic handle on the end of the boom that will not slide through the boom holder, plus there is part of the boom tube which has to go through the holding mechanism, so I measured just under 32 inches of reach from the mic stand itself to the threads of the fully extended boom....I had hoped to get the full 37 inch reach but with proper positioning, the boom was able to meet my needs. Consider this if you need more than 32 inches of reach.

Now, I don't know whether to sing thru the mic while practicing my drums, or point the mic down from the cool overhead position I achieve with the boom and then hear my drums with a little reverb shimmer added in my Klipsch studio monitor setup.

You can't go wrong with K & M or with Sweetwater. Recommended!

K&M Delivers as usual

By Michael Lyons from North Carolina on July 13, 2022

How much can one say about a boom attachment for a mic stand? Well, if it's it's designed and built by K&M you can be confident it will be high quality and durable. The specs are what they are and they are why I chose this one. I already knew I would be happy with it before it ever arrived and sure enough I am. This most recent purchase is my second one of these. Basically, if you need a stand of some sort go with K&M. You won't regret it.

Exact replacement for a worn out boom.

By Casey Hensley from Alabama on December 17, 2021 Music Background: Super star in the making...LMAO

I've had my K & M microphone stand for over 20 years. It finially gave up after thousands of adjustments to the boom arm. The threads holding the tensioner knob on the mic extension segment wore out. It's pertnear impossible to use a tap to cut new threads in the hole that holds the tensioner knob so I had to get a new boom. This new boom is an exact replacent fitting the old stand perfectly. I'm looking forward to 20 years more with this setup. It's one of the best mic stand and boom assemblies I've ever used. Sweetwater got it to me in three days. Packing and shipping were excellent.A fantastic company to do business with for the last twenty to thirty years. Kinda missed the candy though.LOL

A Sturdy Bit of Kit

By Tom B from Warren, MI on November 26, 2021 Music Background: Choral and solo vocalist and acoustic guitar player.

We have been using that other brand (you know, the cheap one) at church and have had issues with parts falling off and with having to really crank down on things to get them to stay in position. I bought this for my mic stand there and I and others have noticed how well made and how easy to use this one is. K&M - German engineered and made…pretty much says it all. Yup, a few dollars more but worth every cent. No slippy pivots, no strippy threads, no parts that rattle and fall off. Enough said.

Nice, very adjustable, sturdy mic boom

By Max T. from Minnesota on March 11, 2021 Music Background: Professional Musician, Student, Hobbyist Producer

I've used one of these mounted on a K&M 18950 keyboard stand (using their mount etc) for almost a year. It's a really nice piece of equipment. It's sturdy, holds decent-weight mics well (Audio Technica AT-2035), and has tons of adjustability. It's made really well, and I've also used it with regular mic stands both for actual mics and with an iPad holder and iPad for filming video. This is my favorite mic boom for most duties, and especially for any musician who plays an instrument and sings as well and wants a super-adjustable mic boom that will NOT sag!

Solid, simple

By Sweetwater Customer from MN on November 24, 2020

I had a regular straight microphone stand and got this to attach it. Has plenty of length and counterweight for my sm58. Using mostly as a desk mic.

Great boom arm

The best boom arm for keyboardists

By Robert Horan from Mt Pleasant SC on October 6, 2020 Music Background: Cover band keyboardist/singer

This German designed and made boom has the length and adjustability for any position you need while keeping the stand far out of the way. I use an old school round solid weighted stand base. This boom is easy to tighten and doesn't sag down while performing, which can drive you mad with cheaper made booms.

Awesome

By Richard on September 24, 2020 Music Background: Part time musician

Solidly made, nice features on it , 2 band members planning on purchasing one. I now have to buy one for my wife also!

Buy right the first time!

By Bob Hanlon from Aston, PA on June 2, 2020

I had a cheaper boom from another company and it just wasn't very steady with my Shure Beta 58 microphone. So I moved that boom to a lower stand for a lighter condenser instrument microphone and replaced it with this unit. The quality of the K&M is superior. The hardware is good quality – no worries about any thread stripping! And it doesn't sag or droop under the weight of a heavy microphone. It's a keeper. Sure, there are cheaper booms out there, but buy right the first time and you won't be disappointed!
And Sweetwater's service is always prompt!

Review K&M 21120 2-piece Telescopic Mic Boom

By Dave from Salem, VA on October 1, 2019

Everything about this order was perfect - from the salesperson helping me figure out which part I needed to the ordering process to delivery. Thanks for always being perfect.

solid engineering

By Severt on July 21, 2019

Love this boom. It seems that all booms wear out with time and so I recently purchased three of these in the last two years. The boom is has a very solid feel to it and is easy to adjust. They have been also stood up to the wear and tear of regular use.

Great mic stand!

By Sweetwater Customer on March 17, 2019

This is a great mic stand. The extension is very easy and it is very well built.

Nice Telescoping Boom!!!

By Mark from Seattle, WA on January 21, 2014 Music Background: Church sound expert

I made a mistake of ordering cheap telescoping boom mic stands through Amazon and the plastic locking mechanism broke right away. The K&M unit has a metal locking mechanism which will last a long time, as our original unit never failed.

Perfect for a small satge

By Dennis J Schaibly Sr from Dew Drop Social & Benevolent Hall on January 2, 2024

These short but extendable arms really help on my small stage. Don't have the long tails sticking out when when working clso to the upright.

Great boom for the price!

By Everett G from Knoxville, TN on March 20, 2013 Music Background: Live sound Engineer, Pro Musician

Excellent boom for the price, nothing out there beats it. I have one on a DR Pro base and a few on heavy MS20e Atlas bases. The clutch knob is a smaller plastic wing, I believe they used to be larger metal ones like the DR Pros use but I just swapped them out and all's well now. Highly recommended!

Cheers,
Everett

Nice Boom

Initial Review - Solid

By Mike Roberts from Houston on December 20, 2020 Music Background: Professional

Could be 5 stars eventually, but you judge these things by how fast they fall apart. So we'll see. Right now, first use, no complaints.

Not wear and tear proof

By Leif Ragnaldsen from Pooler, GA on March 25, 2024

This is potentially a very nice boom but I've had experience with these types of stands. The main tightening mechanism for the boom uses some sort of rubber gasket or something. This is great when the boom is new but after a few years the rubber wears down and then it gets to the point where the boom doesn't tighten at all rendering the boom useless. AN ALLIGATOR TYPE ADJUSTMENT WOULD WORK MUCH BETTER.
