K&M 20150 Microphone Stand XL Reviews
If you need a straight mic stand with loads of reach, look no further than the K&M 20150 XL. This extended-height mic stand telescopes straight up over 126 inches. That's over 10 feet of height for you to reach room mics and stereo pairs up into the rafters and room corners. The secret lies in the K&M 20150 XL's second telescoping joint, which makes capturing sound way up in the rarefied air of your tracking room easy as can be — there are no booms or saddlebags to mess with, so no drift to worry about. The K&M 20150 XL is made from rugged steel and features an extra-wide 33.46-inch leg base to keep your mics safe and stable. Once the session's over, the 20150 breaks down to about the size of a standard tripod straight stand, which means space savings in your gear closet. Take it from recording engineers at Sweetwater: if sheer height is what you're after, the K&M 20150 Microphone Stand XL has what you're looking for.

Great Stand
I've been recording concert bands by using a makeshift tall stand. It consisted of a mic stand with three booms connected together. It was unsteady and unsightly. Not professional by any means. A friend suggested this stand. I resisted at first due to the price but eventually gave in. And I am so glad I did. This thing is beefy! Very solid. No need to weight the bottom. Gets the job done and isn't a visual distraction.
Great tall stand
Taller straight stand option from K&M. I use them for my fin antennas and they have worked great. It has longer base legs as well for added height support. Another quality K&M design.
great value and well made in Germany ...
I record live ensembles and usually I reqire that my microphones are 8-10 feet high. These stands are perfect for getting a C414/C214/4050/NT1A/KM184/KM183 etc, over an orchestra with the capsule at 10.5 feet. Stands are fairly heavy (the legs are solid steel) and don't require sandbags for most large microphone, although I wouldn't put a heavy AEA R44 on one of these without some extra weight on the legs. There are "split" or "C shaped" round sandbags available that works perfectly, if you need such a thing.
I expected Asian made, but these stands are actually made in Germany.
A great value. I am buying more soon.
