Keeley Mini Katana Clean Boost Pedal - New Light Pink, Sweetwater Exclusive Reviews
The Keeley Mini Katana packs the time-tested dual FET Class A tonal architecture of the classic Katana clean boost into a compact mini-sized enclosure, clocking in at almost half the size of the original! It may be small, but this pedal packs a whopping +35dB of boost that will enliven any signal with a truly amp-like dynamism. Plus, the Mini Katana’s cleans are only the beginning of this pedal’s utility — two internal switches allow you to switch the pedal into Hi-Gain mode for a sweet and saturated overdrive tone. Meanwhile, the all-new Hi-Cut EQ switch is perfect for smoothing over a signal with harsh highs. From a slight organic push to full-scale tonal transformation, the Keeley Mini Katana is a pint-sized monster that, once engaged, you’ll rarely be tempted to turn off.

Surprisingly good
Dont let the price or small size fool you. This is an awesome clean boost its an always on pedal.
I prefer it over a few other boost pedals I have had that cost more.
The one guy claiming its noisy isn't true in my case. It makes my cleans come alive and my leads sing.
One Boost to Rule them All
I run 3 of these on different pedal boards as they never disappoint. Very consistent and flexible as boost pedals go and low power consumption too. I have a Catlinbread Epoch Boost that can't come close to the Katana Mini and the EP Xotic Boost is definitely a letdown to me after running the Keeley Mini K. The boost side of the TC Electronic Jims 45 is not notable in any particular special way either if in the event that you are considering a newer pedal model type of purchase. I would say that the Jackson Audio boost side of the Golden Boy is probably the next best thing and perhaps even better as it's a horse race for sure, but it's a lot more money for that.
Crystal !
Transparent Pureness !
Great Pedal!
Sparkly pink too! :)
I love her !
Thanks Sweetwater!
Really great sounding boost. Almost perfect!
I am running this boost into my primary OF pedal into a Friedman little sister amp set primarily clean. This boost does an AMAZING job of pushing my medium-gain pedal into high gain. It sounds huge and almost sounds like a second channel of that pedal. I'm absolutely in love.
My only critique is regarding the switches inside the pedal. I feel that this pedal increases my low end pretty substantially, so having a treble cut switch seems pretty useless. A low cut would have made more sense to me. Also, the OD switch makes the low end increase even more extreme. It's really not usable for me with the knob past noon.
My favorite setting a the switch set to clean boost and no treble cut, then set the knob to 3 o clock. Pure bliss into a tube amp!
Noisiest pedal I've ever used
This is not the quality I'm used to out of Keeley. This is supposed to be a CLEAN boost pedal, but when activated even with a slight 5 DB boost, I got lots of overdriven tube amp-type noise. Got this result with the pedal and its power supply isolated.
I tried toggling the dipswitch to High Gain just to see what would happen, but the noise changed to a lower-volume high-pitched whine. I saw some articles online with other users complaining of this - not necessarily with the Sweetwater version either.
