Kramer Assault Plus Electric Guitar - Bengal Burst Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Maple Top, Mahogany Neck, Maple Fingerboard, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and Floyd Rose Tremolo - Bengal Burst

The Kramer Assault Plus is a full-blown shredder with vintage style to spare. It boasts a familiar single-cut maple-topped mahogany body, but that’s where the similarities end. Its mahogany neck features an easy-playing K-Speed SlimTaper “C” profile, and its lightning-fast 12"-radius fingerboard sports a 25.5" scale and 24 medium-jumbo frets. Plug into your favorite high-gain stack, and you’ll experience high-octane humbucker tones, courtesy of a set of hot-rodded Seymour Duncan pickups. And true to its shredder heritage, the Assault Plus includes a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo. The Assault Plus features easy-access hex wrenches, rock-solid die-cast tuners, and an eye-grabbing Kramer trademark reverse headstock.

Kramer Assault Plus

By Ray Horton from Spring, Texas on September 8, 2023

This is a metal machine. I have a few more expensive guitars than the Assault but this guitar blows them away. Great tone and easy playability. Plug into a high gain amp and OMG the sustain is amazing. Well worth the money, you will not be disappointed.

Good choice

Very well made and nice playing guitar. I was impressed. Needed no upgrades or mods. It's all there right out of the box.

Purchased this sight unseen but on high recommendation from Nate, the stellar Sweetwater expert! Was going to get a Beretta Special but sprang for this instead! With Seymour Duncan's and a great Floyd Rose trem you can't go wrong! Premium appointments you can see, feel & hear! Pull the trigger and go for it! You won't regret it & ask for Nate!

All Good!

I've owned many guitars over 5 decades. This is truly one of my favorites. It's solid yet lightweight. I love the maple neck along with the satin finish on the back of the neck, very smooth. Detail and finish is as expected for a instrument in it's price range. The Floydrose tremolo stays in tune very well and is very reactive. The fret-board is fairly flat without allot of radius so it does play a bit different as a rhythm guitar playing chords. And while it can fill a rhythm role, this guitar is born to shred. One downside is that there is no case made for this guitar! I can get it to fit in a Gretsch 5000 series case but beware. Otherwise, highly recommended.

You can see the upgrades!

Really good feeling, balanced guitar! The Kramer Assault Plus differs from the Assault 220FR in a number of different upgrades. The maple top, possibly more a veneer than a thick slab, is nicely figured under the 'Bengal Burst' finish. This model features a pair of Seymour Duncan JN/JB humbuckers instead of the unbranded Alnico V humbucking pickups - and having the zebra pickup covers matches nicely with the maple fingerboard. The Plus also has two volumes controls and a master tone control - perfect for the "stutter" effect. It's not mentioned on the description page, but both volume controls are Push/Pull for coil tapping on each pickup. There is a lot of tonal variety in this model. Even though it is a single cutaway LP-style body, the 24 fret neck is 25.5" scale so it can twang more like a Strat (if you need to). Reverse headstock with Allen wrench holder practically screams 1980s! It's pretty AND it's versatile, just what we want out of a guitar

This thing is such an 80s rock machine that after I played the Top Gun theme song on it - an F14 landed in my back yard! But seriously, I bought this guitar because I was looking for a rock guitar that was both musical and powerful. And it is. The pickups are great and have loads of bite with gain but are also clear on clean tones. It also has a great mix of modern and classic feel that makes it feel both fresh and familiar at the same time. I think there are a lot of great options in this price range but this one is definitely worth considering. The only 2 things that stand out slightly is that I'd prefer a one piece body and a top instead of a veneer, but those are just cosmetic. But the fit and finish, the pickups, the look, and the feel are great and the whole guitar seems constructed well. Overall, it's very fun to play, I love that it's different, and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Great guitar!!! Awesome Pick Ups!!

By Matthew Cincotta from Springfield, MA on March 2, 2023 Music Background: Home Music Production

Although tuning a double locking Floyd Rose is some work. It is worth it. I love the Les Paul style of this guitar. Med/jumbo frets are built for speed and comfort. Pick ups I like even better than my Slash Seymours. (Shhhhh). Kramer is owned by Gibson (2023).

Add a EVH d-Tuna and your all set. Drop down to a D in a pull. And yes. EVH d-Tunas fit perfect on this guitar with no alterations.

Just block the floyd rose from being able to float backwards. Just a simple block. Simple Youtube search will show u how.

I love this Kramer Assault!!!
Thanks David Wharam!!

Cheers!!!

Sweet Guitar

By Sean J from Lilburn, GA on July 18, 2022 Music Background: Play for fun....

The guitar is sharp looking and sounds great. I was a little disappointed when it arrived. It had a broken high E string...no big deal...I replaced it quickly. However, when I plugged it in, cranked it up and hit the whammy bar, it made a clicking sound. And it kept going when I would dive or pull up. I contacted Sweetwater, and I also did some research and there were several suggestions that indicated it might be in the locking nut. So I took off the strings and unscrewed the nut...sure enough, there was the tiniest bit of wood splinters (likely when it was installed) and they were causing the nut to rock back and forth when you used the whammy bar. I have restrung guitars with Floyd's before, but I know it can be a pain if you do not know how to do it. In any event, once this issue was fixed it sounded great. It stays in tune, the pick-ups sound great and its got a nice feel to it. The body reminds of you of a Les Paul and the neck reminds you of a Jackson.....the neck is good, though not quite as fast as an Ibanez....but thats why you get both... :) Definitely a guitar worth having.

Beautiful

Esp shape

By Sweetwater Customer on September 27, 2022

If I was ESP I would totally sue. Gibson has gone after them for there eclipse shape. It looks like it's time to return the favor.
