looks great, user friendly and sounds great unplugged or through a small amp. i play a several instruments (guitar, bass, sax family, whatever i can get my hands on) and my lovely spouse has a wonderful singing voice but never picked up another instrument, now this uke is providing so much pleasant diversion and joyful creation for us both! a bad instrument stifles learning and development but this one works with you no matter where you're at in your process. shout out to josh kitchener my sweetwater rep, he helped the process work out smoothly. i have played ukes before but this one stands out and at this price point punches above its weight.

Got this as a learner uke and have been nothing but thrilled! Gorgeous tone, beautiful form, just an all-around sweet selection. Shoutout to sales engineer Perry Davis for helping me pick it out! He made the process fun and painless.

My desire to buy an acoustic/electric ukulele has been put on hold for a while and then I finally pulled the trigger and bought this one on sale. I realize it's not the most expensive but for the price, I think it's a really nice ukulele. The onboard tuner/EQ works good although being green at being plugged in I really don't know yet how to mix the onboard EQ with that of the amplifier - I'll get it. The uke itself is really nice; looks very well manufactured, relatively light, and the strings are Aquila so it came all ready to play. The sound is really nice; rich and full even in the acoustic mode. The only thing that perplexed me as I got it out of the box, tuned it up, and went to put my strap on - there's a strap button that is installed on the bottom of the body (as shown) but there isn't one up on the heel. I know there are different ways of strapping the neck of the uke but I don't like stringing it under the strings on the head - it hits my left hand and makes the whole uke sit in the center of my body compared to if it was strapped on the heel only the body of the uke would be centered on my chest which is the way I like it. So, I will have to either install a button myself on the heel or have someone do it. This doesn't make me happy. I read later that a lot of ukulele's do not come with strap buttons - but to put one on and not the accompanying one is strange. But, I'm giving the ukulele a 5 star anyway because for a lower budget uke, this one looks and sounds great.

I've been waiting like a kid for Christmas for this ukulele to arrive. I was not disappointed. This is my first ukulele that is what I would consider better than beginner level that I have ever played, and the the feel alone is so much better. My ukulele arrived earlier than anticipated which I attribute to Sweetwater's quick response and Fed Ex doing an exceptional job as well. It was packed in it's box, then in an unbranded, non descript shipping Box with plenty of packaging. The ukulele is in excellent shape. It's dang near a work of art! I plugged it into my digital interface and also into my fender guitar amp, and it sounded great in both instances, let alone its' great projection as a stand alone acoustic, which will be how she is mostly played. The only slight I can give this ukulele is that the action is just a touch high for my liking, but that's fine. I can handle that on my own, and I'd rather that be the case than to have it too low and there be nothing I can do about it.

My service agent, David Merkosky, was quick to communicate via email as soon as my purchase was made. Thankfully I was not really in need of any further service, but I do feel he would have handled it had I needed.

I have played guitar for over 40 years. I play an acoustic higher end Martin. I just purchased this ukulele for a family member and received it today. This Kala was set up well and sounds great! For the money this mid grade uke is made well and mahogany gives a warm sound! Sweetwater is a great company to do business with! ...plus I get their 2 year warranty.

I've had this Uke for a couple of weeks and I love it. Sounds good, and it's easy to tune and play. I had a question regarding the tuner and received an email answer quickly. Overall, I'm very happy with Sweetwater and my new ukulele.

Granted I have only had this a week. But I am a professional musician so I know what I like. And I love this. It is my first Uke and I did no comparisons but this is just perfect for me. Customer service with Jared is awesome. Sweetwater is awesome.

I was skeptical about how well the hardware would work. Not having played another electric Uke, I can't compare but I do know its a joy to play. Having the built-in tuner is the entirely best thing on this planet. I wish every instrument had one because its freaking convenient. The pick-up seems to work fine. No issues and the finish was surprisingly beautiful. Much better in my opinion, glossier, than pictures make it seem.

Really glad I got the concert size too. Great balance of my preferred sound for a still relatively small instrument I can take anywhere I go. They're not even paying me to say this stuff, I'm just honest by nature.

I'm not a Ukulele master by any means so take this review for what its worth but I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to add to their musical arsenal.

Got mine in 2015 from Sweetwater and still in love with it, Excellent tone, stays in tune. Great fit and finish. Just a lot of fun to play, If you are going to take it someplace, get the Kala Dlx Ukulele Bag. Another great value from Sweetwater. It's durable, looks good and offers great protection. I've enjoyed the Kala so much that after my 11 year old daughter claimed it and the bag as hers, I ordered another Kala. This time the Tenor w/EQ,

I love my new Ukulele. It's a beautiful instrument. It play's and sounds wonderful, and the price was right for just learning. I gave it a 4.5 instead of a 5.0 star because of the intonation. This is a very common problem with all ukulele especially on the "C" string playing sharp. I replace the saddle with a bone intonate saddle which helped a lot. You would have to custom make an intonate saddle to really get it perfect though for each individual string. It's a problem I think all company's should address more and not just on their higher end models. If your on the fence about buying one, I would say do it though.
