incredible value, especially if you swap pickups
Has a nice neck and body, so with a few easy mods you can upgrade it to compare with USA quality.
Pickups sounded a little blah-muddy but the neck felt really nice after being oiled up. So I put some flats on to see about a set up. Standard stock bridge was found to be serviceable as is, to keep costs down. I was easily able to adjust the truss rod and saddles to get the action and intonation correct. Suddenly it was playing like butter, and then only needed an electronics upgrade to be on par with a 'professional grade' instrument.
Two clicks later in walk some Fender Ultra Noiseless pick-ups, and a 920D loaded control plate. Drops-ins that instantly transformed a mid-level Squier into a formidable - great playing, and sounding instrument. Looks nice too btw, in burst with a black pickguard.
I have under 6 benjamins invested all in. And for me this did beat a mexican player plus V in a side by side. The active one. Look up the price of that. My Affinity V sounded every bit as good, played better, and was literally pounds lighter btw.
With these upgrades, I will now put this thing up against anything as a benchmark.
btw - I also upgraded a classic vibe 4 string this way. Also added a hipshot to that one since I happened to have an extra 4 str bridge laying around. - totally rocked it. Easy stuff you can do to a Squier to match your USA Fenders.

Good Jazz Bass
Bass came already tuned, no issues at all, I only needed to change strings' height a bit. Liked double packaging, and overall experience with Sweetwater.

I honestly have a hard time telling this apart from my mexican jbass- great sound for the money.

I can't believe how high quality a $ Squier bass turned out to be!
I also have a Fender American jazz bass and I wish I had bought this first. There's not much difference in terms of sound and playability.
