A fresh look for an iconic bass

Don't let the prototype finish fool you, this is a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass through and through. Fender created these prototype finishes to try something new while keeping the best of the old. If you love the sound of a Jazz Bass but also want something with a different look than the usual fare, the Prototype American Deluxe Jazz Bass is the axe for you.

Dial in the tones you need with active electronics

Truly a merging of the best of the past with new technologies, the Fender Prototype American Deluxe Jazz Bass offers a familiar feel and a whole host of sound-shaping tools. Sonically, the N3 Noiseless pickups are an improvement over many previous J Bass designs, giving you more headroom and tighter low-end response. This punchiness is further managed by an active 3-band EQ, and the American Deluxe Jazz Bass's electronics can be toggled between active and passive, letting you choose which voice best suits your playing style. The battery door is held closed by flat-head screws, so you quickly and easily access the battery door with a coin or a pick.

The perfect neck finish

Players are very particular about many aspects of their instruments but none more so than the neck. Fender has incorporated a great-feeling satin finish on the Fender Prototype American Deluxe Jazz Bass neck. The back of the Jazz Bass's neck has a slick-playing satin finish that feels worn in and ready to go. Rolled fingerboard edges and a contoured heel make the Fender Prototype American Deluxe Jazz Bass comfortable to play and give you easy access to upper frets. Beyond its ultra-smooth contoured heel, Fender's American Deluxe Jazz Bass also features a redesigned neck that includes a robust 5-bolt plate and Posiflex graphite neck support-rod system, for unrivaled stability.

Fender Prototype American Deluxe Jazz Bass 4-string Electric Bass Features:
  • Value-packed American Deluxe Jazz Bass with a quilt maple top and a prototype Transparent Amber Burst finish
  • Classic and modern bass sounds with amazing playability
  • Flexible active electronics with N3 Noiseless pickups
  • Active/passive switch for electronics
  • 5-bolt neck and contoured heel for added playability
  • Satin neck finish feels and plays great
  • Made in Fender's USA factory
  • Includes hardshell case
Fender's Prototype American Deluxe Jazz Bass gives you everything that makes the Jazz Bass a classic — and a whole lot more!
