Love machine

By Kent Barrett from Boiling Springs, PA on October 28, 2021

Sooo, I have a son and a fiancé and a dog and some family down South and these are all things that I love slightly more than this guitar. But not every day, and not by much. Seriously though, this guitar made me stop wanting to buy guitars. It's got so many sounds to explore and a tone and feel that's just incredible. I will say there was a month or two learning curve… I'd reach for a knob before a riff and it wasn't quite where I thought… it's Les Paul kind of heavy and it drives my local tech crazy… but after spending some time with this guitar, I've just fallen in love with every little weird quirk about it. Don't let people's comments throw you off; this is a high quality instrument with some crazy breadth and depth of sounds under the hood. I love it.

A really, really great guitar

By Allen Bessnson from FLORENCE, AZ on January 31, 2020 Music Background: Weekend Warrior

My JM Ultra arrived in perfect condition, packed carefully with the Fender box contained in a larger box with air-filled plastic material. I waited all night, about 24hrs as suggested for the temperature to equalize. The guitar looks just like the pics of the Ultraburst finish I selected, beautiful in every way. Neck is very straight, nice fretwork. Screw-in Vibrato arm stays where I want it, guitar stays in-tune when I use it.

The action felt stiff when bending strings, but the neck feels great playing chords up and down. The neck is a bit wider than my other Fender Strat and Tele which feel good for me, and it accommodates the wider string spacing of the Mustang bridge just right. The guitar has a clean tone to die for. I used it at a gig the same night I unwrapped it, love that tone for '60s-era music.

The only criticism I have is, the Tone Pot doesn't rotate smoothly at all, worst I've encountered. It works fine electronically, and I checked to make sure the knob is free. It is a problem that'll have to be addressed at some point after I register the guitar with Fender I guess. No way this one's going back!

Best part came after I took my Ultra for a setup. I knew the bone nut slots needed to be lowered some. I also had the stock Fender strings changed to Dunlops. Now it plays easier than my Elite Tele! Ben Porter is my sales guy and has provided me the best service ever!
