Apogee Jam X USB Instrument Interface Reviews
Apogee’s suite of recording technology is bolstered by a history of high-quality delivery, and rest assured that the Jam X is perfect for capturing any take, anywhere. The Jam X elevates their mobile recording platform by adding a built-in analog compressor. It's exactly the same as the hardware compressor that's built into the fan-favorite HypeMic. The compressor comes stock with three compression presets that respond to how hard you hit the input. PureDIGITAL connection technology ensures crystal-clear recording quality of synths, keyboards, guitars, basses, or any acoustic instrument with a pickup! With the aid of an impedance transformer (not included), you can even lay down vocals with a dynamic microphone. Experience high-quality playback in your headphones or powered speakers, with soaring sample rates up to 96kHz. Attain classic analog character with simple onboard presets, FX, and more — the Jam X from Sweetwater is the real deal wherever you need to use it.

simply works !
I have a older Apogee ONE model, but after purchasing a new computer I miss placed the drivers/software and they are no longer available to download, sigh...... this meant serious latency. I use Logic and this unit was painless to connect, no drivers or other bs... LOL. This unit is half the size and I think it has better sound quality too. Limited to a 1/4" input, which is fine for me since it's just for guitar, bass and a keyboard. (the ONE had MIC jack input, etc.) The ability to add gain from the unit is a bonus. It's really small and so portable. Would recommend
Does the job
Latency was my main concern as I've had rough experiences with Apogee stuff in the past. Works great with my m1 Macbook Pro + Neural DSP plugins. I don't expect to have any issues with it going forward. Don't care to call it a 5 star product as the value isn't the strongest to me. The built in compressor is nice if you're using the direct monitoring, but otherwise feels like fluff given that most amp sims will offer their own option(s) with more direct control. Realistically I could have (maybe even should have) bought the previous version and been happier/saved a few bucks.
That said, it does everything it's advertised to do and I've already gotten plenty of use out of it.
