nice bass for the money. fantastic neck(slim, nice fret ends, easy to play). the pickup sounds good and has usable range of volume and tone. the neck dive is pretty bad on it so I might need to relocate the strap button. sitting down you can rest your forearm on it to stop the neck dive if you pick/pluck near the neck. nice glossy finish. definitely well worth $!

I bought this bass from Sweetwater after seeing the price drop. I didn't need another bass, but I always wanted a medium scale bass (32"), so I pulled the trigger on the Lake Placid Blue one. I love the color, and the bass plays very nice after some simple bridge saddle and truss rod adjustments, which took me all of 15 minutes. The neck pocket is tight, the frets are level and have no sharp ends, and the hardware works just fine. I've considered dropping a MM style humbucker in there, and maybe I will someday, but after rehearsing and playing a gig with it, I find it to be unnecessary. The sound is big and fat and sits well within the band. I have to EQ a little more mids and treble on my amp, but that's what those controls are for. All the notes are felt and heard, like a good P-bass but with a bit more grind. I'm very happy with the purchase. It's a good bass regardless of price, but the price makes it even more attractive.

Let me start with giving credit where credit is due. Sweetwater and Zack Davidson...are fantastic to work with. One of the things I like about Zack is hes a great advisor...not a pushy salesman trying to push on me what he thinks is best. He listens to what it is I'm wanting to do and we go from there. A bit about me. While somewhat new to playing the bass I'm not new to the music scene. I come from a drumming background. Having short fingers I have always gone for 30" short scale bass' but have never felt totally comfortable with them. While waiting in a music store a few weeks ago I picked up a 32' classic vibe P bass and fell in love. It was so much easier to move around the neck than my Stingray. I cant explain it so I'm just gonna roll with it. Those of you with small hands dont feel restricted to short scales. Go to a music store....pick up one of the Squier medium scales and you'll see what I mean.
About the Affinity Jag. Not having tons of experience I cant compare it to other bass'....which may be a good thing. When I purchased it Zack recommended a set up and I agreed as I dont have all the knowledge needed....yet....to do my own setups. Fit and finish are perfect. I ordered the black finish. It is beautiful and flawless. Love the maple neck. That back of the neck is smooth and very fast. The one thing for now that I want to change are the tuners. Nothing wrong with them. I got it in tune when I recieved it Friday. It's now Sunday and it's still in tune after a combined playing time of 8 hours or so. I just want something sleeker looking. The pots feel nice and smooth with a good enough resistance where it would be difficult to change tone/ volume by accidentally bumping them. Basic bridge...no frills. Same bridge as I have on my Classic Vibe Jag. Very solid. Body seems lite weight compared to the CV. While it is a 32" scale it leans to the smaller side of medium. Which...again isnt a problem. For a beginner you couldnt ask for a more playable bass. The pick up...for a passive pick up...is hot and has some sizzle to it. FOR $ YOU ARE NOT GOING TO FIND A BETTER BASS. Hands down Squire is killing it with the Affinity & Classic Vibe line up of bass'. Look at it this way....the Affinity line is around $ and the CV line around $. For not a lot of money you can get a great instrument to get you going until you get mad skills and can justify buying an upper end bass. I wont blink carrying my Affinity and CV jag into an audition or rehearsal.

So for the cheap price of roughly this guitar looks and sounds great. Neck is smooth and im extremely impressed with the stock pick up. There is only 1 problem I've had with this bass. It has serious neck dive. I didn't realize this before purchase as I sat down to play it in the store, It is super neck heavy to the point where I don't want to play it as is. That being said there are fixes to this. After market light weight tuners and a wider strap should do it. But you're now looking at dropping an extra $ or so. Personally I think this bass is worth it to spend the money to upgrade, but if you dont want to spend extra money or time then I would not suggest getting it. As it is, it's super annoying to play while standing up. I would love to give it a 5 star review but as small as it sounds in my opinion it's a pretty big con to this instrument. Hope this helps :)

This bass is as close as you can get to Mike Kerr's custom Fender Jaguar. The hum-bucker sounds powerful and clear. Installing a replacement aftermarket pickup looks easy enough. The body well its too light weight something that will be hard to replace. This will need a high mass bridge at least! I have mine tuned to D standard taking advantage of the 32 inch scale. Strung up with 115 on the D string. A DDT set. The pots work nothing to get excited about! The neck will need work had to go over mine with some fine steel wool on the frets, rough maple fingerboard and neck. Now it plays very well! The tuners and OK they work well enough. This is at the moment the best way to get that mid scale jag hum-bucker bass Royal Blood looking bass. Throwing some fuzz and octaves into the mix makes this bass really sing!
