Jackson JS Series Dinky Arch Top JS32Q DKA HT Electric Guitar - Transparent Purple Burst Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Poplar Body, Quilt Maple Top, Maple Neck, Amaranth Fingerboard, and 2 Humbucking Pickups - Transparent Purple Burst

Nearly four decades of consistent production can’t be wrong: Jackson’s Dinky guitars are shred-worthy axes with options for players of all skill levels. The Jackson JS Series Dinky Arch Top JS32Q DKA HT Electric Guitar combines affordability with thick, snarling tone and prodigious sustain — courtesy of its resonant, lightweight poplar body, arched quilt maple top, and two high-output humbuckers. You’ll appreciate the smooth playability of the maple speed neck, and the fully bound compound-radius fretboard is fantastic for chording down low and bending up high without fretting out. If you require a solid starter guitar or a roadworthy backup, the Jackson JS Series Dinky Arch Top JS32Q DKA HT Electric Guitar is an excellent option.

Great guitar

It's a jewel for the price, beautiful finish and thin neck

I had to try it

By Lonnie Robison from Harrisburg, PA on September 13, 2023

I received my Jackson today. It was packaged very well and arrived in perfect condition. I spent about an hour with the guitar, and am happy to say everything works as it should. I must say that for the low price, it sounds and plays pretty nice. This is my sixth guitar. For the money, this is a solid choice. The finish is really nice, it stays in tune, and the playability is far better than expected.

Well built guitar

The guitar is well built it came from Sweetwater were it was inspected with their 5 stage inspection set up. The only thing I changed was the tuners, they were lacking in quality and ratio, after putting these in you could tell the difference.

Double thumbs up

I LOVE THIS GUITAR

By Sweetwater Customer on December 9, 2022

This guitar plays very smooth and is very light. I absolutely LOVE the feel and the color of this guitar and the price was perfect. It played right out of the box and this has become my main guitar to play! I could not have asked for a better price and I got a great guitar out of it!!!

Excellent customer service

I want to thank Ray Gonzalez for helping me figure out which guitar to get. I wanted Ibanez, but Ray said to let my daughter pick it because it was for her. He was right she picked a beautiful Jackson. I did a lot of research on the guitar and it is a shredder special. She is going to love it. Thanks again Ray.

(Almost) All I could have hoped for.

First few days impression- So far I love the form factor, weight, balance, and look. The build quality (after your checkup) is excellent and much better than I'd likely have gotten from my local Guitar 'store'. The quality of the switches, knobs/potentiometers is great, and the tuners are better than I expected. Even at its light weight the sustain is pretty good, and also better than I expected. So far I like the compound radius, though I'm only above the 12th fret rarely right now... GNR Sweet Child O'Mine usually, plus random roaming up there just to see how it sounds and to see what I think of the intonation.

I liked the Jackson well enough already that I sold my Epiphone Les Paul Standard which played ok, but not great, and of course weighed a ton with the non-chambered body. The Jackson is much more comfortable to hold and play.

While intended to help me play a bit of metal as opposed to the usual rock/blues I try to play with my Fat Strat, I tried out some old favorite rock songs/riffs on the Jackson tonight. Some AC/DC, Zeppelin, as well as some Skynyrd. Also, mostly because I can't play enough metal to even get a sense of the guitar. Pretty happy with the results.

I am still learning the Katana amp I use, and yes chasing down presets and settings to get tone usable for any specific song can be a pain but that being said, my only semi negative takeaway is that the Jackson's pickups often sound kind of thin regardless of guitar volume or tone. I do continue to realize that it's not a $2000 guitar so I should not expect miracles. I can't really explain 'thin'.. but the pickups are not deep, rich nor 'complex' sounding... they are... OK. I'm playing catch up on the Jackson tone with Amp and pedal settings and so far I don't have anything dialed in. But, I guess it is a journey.

I am still mostly fiddling around with learning metal tones and techniques, so I don't have much to report there. I don't have much touch with my palm mute, nor nearly enough picking speed to play anything recognizable...

Update- I'm playing the Jackson more, and in fact I've chosen it instead of my Strat on a number of occasions for R&R and Blues. I'm finding ways of getting better tone on many genres with this guitar using my gear setup and I am finding the compound radius does make the Sweet Child O'Mine riff easier to play than on the Strat or Les Paul… your skills may vary of course. Metal, still not much, but Paranoid is coming along.
