Jackson Dinky Arch Top JS32 DKA - Pavo Purple Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Poplar Body, Maple Neck, Amaranth Fingerboard, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and Licensed Floyd Rose Tremolo - Pavo Purple

The Jackson JS32 Dinky solidbody electric guitar conveys instant attitude both sonically and visually. The amazingly affordable JS32 Dinky serves up thick, snarling tone and prodigious sustain, courtesy of its resonant, lightweight poplar body, arched top, and two high-output humbuckers. You'll appreciate the smooth playability of the maple speed neck. And the fully bound compound-radius fretboard is great for chording down low, and bending up high without fretting out. A real Floyd Rose licensed double-locking tremolo bridge completes the package, making the Jackson JS32 Dinky a guitar any serious player can love.

this guitar is well built and so easy to play. I own many guitars and I still grab this guitar most times to play. It sounds great and is just so comfortable to play and pickups are decent and responsive. the Floyd Trem sets up easy and stay in tune very well. Iam very satisfied with it.
I definitely recommend this guitar .

great axe for the money!

First off, I have to express my appreciation for Sweetwater and it's staff. The level of service and commitment to customer satisfaction they provide blows the competition out of the water. Sweetwater Sound & Bryan Leo are now my first consideration when I am in the market for a new guitar or music equipment.
My Jackson JS32 DKA in Pavo Purple arrived exceptionally fast and double boxed, when I opened my package the guitar was in perfect condition and almost in perfect tune! The fit and finish is on par with a guitar valued at more than twice the price point. When playing through a clean channel the guitar each note rings out perfectly through the stock pups, add a little overdrive and this thing will growl! The color! it's even more beautiful in person, I love how Sweetwaer posts photos of the actual guitar you are buying. I would recommend this guitar for any playing level, it's price point is attractive for a beginner or someone on a budget, the quality of the guitar is also suitable for an experienced player that is looking for a guitar that inspires metal and is looking for a good modification base.

Great service all around and it came a day early in perfect condition. I will purchase all my gear from here, for now on.

Great guitar at an amazing price...

By Charles Rouse from Albany, GA on January 28, 2021 Music Background: I like music gear

I took this to a friend's house to unbox. He is a bona fide guitar snob. Be has lots of Carvins/Kiesels, high end Ibanez, etc. He found nothing wring with this guitar. It plays like a dream (he likes much lower action, but it was fine out of the box for me), and sounds great. He said it should be a $750 guitar, easy.

It's beautiful in addition to sounding and playing good. The licensed Floyd Rose has a great feel and holds its tune. All in all, a surprising guitar for the great price.

Excellent Guitar! Excellent Service!!

First let me say that buying a guitar from Sweetwater has been a great experience in every way. This Jackson is excellent for the money. The neck and fretwork are standouts for sure. The fret ends are as smooth as anything I have played and the compound radius is extremely comfortable and fast. The pickups have a great sound for this price range. I couldn't be happier with the guitar and experience.

Jackson JS32 Dinky DKA

Saw this in a local store and fell in love with it! Recently purchased a used 1991 charvel dinky that I did a full fretboard setup and upgraded pickups and wiring. I just wasn't too happy with the sound of it and decided to sell it as parts. This 2020 dinky is made in China as opposed to the 91' that was made in Japan. The neck on the China dinky feels so smooth with a light satin finish. Fret ends were smooth. I usually need to file the ends and do a full setup. On this guitar I used scotchbrite over the frets and fretboard to give a nice finish. Then used 2000 fine black oxide sandpaper to polish frets. They were initially dull looking. I used orange oil on fretboard. While that soaked in, I removed the Floyd select tremelo and installed a floyd rose big brass block in place of the stock zinc block. I installed 2 heavy duty noiseless springs in place of the 3 stock springs. Using 9 gauge d' Addario strings, it took an hour adjusting the floyd until it floated parallel to the body and stayed in tune. What a difference with this upgrade! Now I need to replace both tiny potentiometers with full size pots. Stock pickups sound really good, but brite like a strat. Must be the ceramic magnets. Tone control helps to lessen the brightness. This guitar blew away the older 91' even before my mods.

Great guitar for cheap price. Love it.

Decent guitar for the price

By David from Missouri on March 3, 2024 Music Background: 3 years playing guitar

I've owned this Jackson for over a year now, and want to write a review for others interested in this guitar.

The Pros:

The neck on this guitar feels amazing. I've played some Epiphone guitars, high end Schecter's, and a handful of Les Paul's, and I can say the smoothness of the fretboard is award winning. It lets you glide across the strings, and the action is so smooth that solo's are fun and easy to play.

The pickups DO sound good. I have an amp with built in distortion, and no pedals, and the harmonics just scream. There is good distinction between the pickup selector switch, and the tone nob gives noticeable response.

The Cons:

Yes, there is a big drawback that does not make this a 5 star guitar, and that is the "licensed" Floyd Rose bridge. It absolutely sucks. Tuning is difficult already due to the Floyd locking design, and one big "whammy" or dive, and you're tuning is off. Trying to dive or pull up even gently, and hitting a chord, and the whole thing is just out of tune. Tuning stability is the most important aspect of a "good" guitar. I've found that if you don't whammy, and actually unscrew the bar, the tuning stability is much improved, but still lacks the consistency of even the $ Epiphone's.

The sustain is not as good as a solid body guitar, such as a Gibson SG. Not sure if that's due to the pickups, or the bolt-on neck.

Conclusion:

This is a great starter guitar for someone wanting to learn. It has enough features to make playing fun, but is never going to satisfy someone wanting a true gig worthy musical instrument. You CAN buy a real Floyd Rose and upgrade it, but it might make more sense to just buy a better guitar.
