Surprisingly fantastic
I normally don't care much for these types of all-in-one plugins, but being a non-drummer, I appreciate the shortcut this brings to mixing drums. This plugin can not only bring average sounding recorded live drums up a notch, but it can also transform drum samples in a big way should you want it. I used JJP drums on a recent project with EZdrummer 2 Alt-Rock (the Steve Albini samples), and it basically sounded like a different kit when I was done with it. JJP Drums let me tailor the drum samples specifically to the song and it worked out great. As a note, if you already know how to mix drums well, or you really want to learn to mix drums well, don't bother with this kind of stuff, just spend the time learning and experimenting until you find your sound. As much as I love mixing guitars, vocals, bass, percussion, keys, random sounds, drum mixing for me is not something I enjoy (mostly because it's my achilles heel). JJP Drums does a lot of the work for me, and I appreciate it. The end results are great. (I also have JJP Cymbals & Percussion, which I don't like as much as JJP Drums, but it's nice to have the pair).
