Jazzy baby
Buttercream and loving it! This jazz bass is perfect, the tone is awesome weight is light and it sounds amazing. I left it original and I'm loving it . This is my seventh bass from sweetwater, and will never buy from anywhere else.
Awesome
8.6 pounds of pure tone! This guitar blew me away with the color and build quality mim is definitely on the rise! Just love everything about this guitar!
Definitely worth the money
The photos don't do this bass justice. I love the simplicity of this bass. I changed the strings to flats and adjusted the action to my taste. This thing plays like butter, doesn't weigh a ton and has tone for days! I usually put quarter pounders in my basses, but I'll leave it as is. Have done five gigs with it and I love it! It is quickly becoming my main gigging bass. As always, Sweetwater and Ryan Thorpe were easy to deal with. Thanks Ryan!
so pretty! I'm in luv
I've been dreaming of this bass for three years now so I finally caved and purchased it as a little birthday gift to myself, and also as a congratulations gift for turning in my college applications on time. It's beautiful!!! I have a background in playing guitar and ukulele so I don't think it's been too difficult for me to learn and play, especially since I haven't been able to put it down since I opened the box HAHAHA. I'm interested in getting a pedal or two to get the exact sound I'm looking for, but I think it's playing incredibly well for now. Thank you Nick Dutiel for the helping me get this bass!
Love this
Great playing and sounding instrument .. as most shipped guitars and basses it needed a little tweaking to get it perfect..
I also have a Mexican Jazzmaster and shell pink so I knew this would be good .. some great stuff coming out of Fender Mexico factory
Incredible
This bass is so great. I got mine about a month ago and wanted to wait a few weeks to really make sure I've broken it in. It came out of the box perfect and ready to roll. The only thing I did was lower the string height, but that's just because of preference. It wasn't a necessity at all. I cannot explain how pleased I am with this thing. Perfect J bass sound, incredibly easy and comfortable to play, and pretty light compared to other J basses I've played in the past. Also, Cody Kraus is the man. I've only bought from him over the years and he always takes care of everything I need. All in all, if you're on the fence about buying this bass, just go for it. You won't regret it!
P.S. if you're feeling extra naughty, make sure you go for the buttercream option.
Best $... you can spend
I'm a guitar player who was wanting to get a bass for a while. I know quality Instruments as I've spent a lot of money on guitars.. for $699 this is an incredible instrument. Fender Mexican line has become the gold standard for sub $1,000 instruments. This is a quality piece that completes with much more expensive basses. No brainer for the price
Great buy!
Excellent sound and extremely comfortable. Hard to beat the quality & price on this monster. As always Tom took care of us. Definitely recommend this product.
What a Great Bass !
Was time to upgrade from my starter P-bass so I spent a lot of time reading reviews. Decided on this Fender Player Series Jazz bass. What a choice. I could not be happier. The sound is fantastic and the frets seems a lot easier to play. Everything was set up as per Sweetwater's 55 point inspection, which is one of the reasons I purchased it here, plus their 2 years warranty. If you're looking for a nice bass at a reasonable price I highly recommend the Fender Player Series Bass from Sweetwater.
Awesome!
I wondered if I should really buy this bass. Then I talked to Jared and he made me feel comfortable in the decisions I was making. Then I received the Bass ,unbelievable. It is the best looking Bass in my collection.
Not only does it look great it plays like a dream. Now every time I play I reach for my new Buttercream Bass. The people I play with can"t get over the sound and the look and it"s all mine. I ask for teach to set it up for me and they knocked it out of the water. All I had to do when I got it was tune it a little (very little). Would I do it again, yes definitely. Would I tell everybody to go to Sweetwater to buy their next purchase, yes definitely. All I have to say now is thanks Jared thanks tech-support thanks Sweetwater for giving me a great bass. Kenny
Just arrived...
Just in time for a gig last Friday night!! I played this bass during sound check and went against all logic. I set aside my MIA basses and played this for the first two of three sets. I'm very pleased with this bass, as it delivers an incredible value. For the money, you simply can't touch it.
I own a Fender American Elite Jbass (3x more money) and a Fender Standard Pbass (2x the money) - and they are better, in regards to warmth and richness of tone, tuning keys and bone nut. The main thing I notice are the tuning keys are not as smooth or accurate. My MIA basses NEVER lose their tuning. If I use alternate tuning, I can tune my MIA basses in 10-15 seconds - this one takes 30-45 seconds, or more. This doesn't seem like a big deal, but you don't want to spend any extra time between songs. I'm optimistic that the tuning keys will become smoother. I will be working some graphite into the keys over the coming weeks...
Pros/cons with this MIM Player Series Jbass:
Cons:
- Lacks depth/warmth of tone, when compared to MIA Standard and Elite Series (although not a bad tone at all!) Note this has synthetic bone nut. Standard and Elite Series are bone.
- Tuning keys are a little obstinate. (Working to smooth this, however)
- I took a few minutes to lower the action (not so much a negative, as a personal preference)
Pros:
- Exceptional fit and finish.
- All frets are contoured into the neck very nicely.
- The finish is like glass, with absolutely no flaws.
- Plays well throughout entire length of neck.
Bottom line: This is geat bass for the money. I wanted a gigging bass that I didn't care if it gets banged around a bit. This is it! :-)
Zach Richards is my go to guy!! Very bright and is exceedingly knowledgable. He ALWAYS takes care of me and is the reason I continue to do business with Sweetwater.
