Fender Adam Clayton Jazz Bass - Sherwood Green Metallic Reviews
Adam Clayton chooses Fender basses to hold down the bottom end for U2, and now you can master the same tone with this gorgeous Jazz Bass. From the alder body to the Fender Custom Shop pickups to the awesome finish with matching headstock, this is the bass you've seen and heard Adam playing on TV and the web. Fender and Adam worked together to give this Jazz bass the exacting specs and tolerances that make it the guitar you'll cherish and rely on for great tone for years to come.

Rock solid, perfect fit and finish.
Here's my quick review of the Adam Clayton Jazz bass I bought via Colin here at Sweetwater. Colin is the guy , follows up in a professional manner and timely, is knowledgeable and very friendly. He's the reason I continue to use Sweetwater. Now on to the bass. I picked the heaviest one I could get because to me and my experience heavier basses have better tone. And this one literally groans when pushed and leaned on. Still has stock fender strings on it too. The guy and finish are superb. The neck pocket is nearly seamless and the neck is rock solid. Kinda a bigger deeper jazz bass neck which prefer. The USA geddy Lee heck is thinner top to bottom at the nut that thus Adam Clayton model. I prefer the U2 guys model. I've had both. Mine weighs 9.9 lbs and is legit for that solid feel and vibe the pickups are quite loud in relation to my 97' Am standard. The Sherwood green is breathtaking and I live it. The neck has a nice satin slick feel to the back which is great as well. I'd wish I bought one of these years ago as I am picky with what basses keep in my rotation if basses that get played.
Great bass.
I love the tone of this bass. Deep rich tone with awesome sustain. Stays in tune. The action is great. Chris is always a pleasure to conduct business with. Customer service at Sweetwater is off the chart good. It is always a pleasure doing business with Chris.
Great bass.
I'm very happy with this bass! It plays very well and is beautiful. The color is awesome, the inlays, the colored headstock is very nice. It came with a great hardshell case, Fender strap and cable. At first, I was questioning why it didn't come with a bone nut, but after a little research and talking to Mike Picotte at Sweetwater, I'm satisfied with the synthetic bone nut. It's a little pricy, but I'm sure Adam Clayton will get a little (probably not too much), however, I'm very satisfied with my purchase from Sweetwater!
Love It! No Regrets!
What can I say, I'm in love with this bass. The neck is soooo comfortable, and I just can't stop staring at this bass. It's so sexy! The first thing I did was put a 10-hole Fender OEM Tortoise Shell Pickguard on it, and it's just stunning. The Sherwood Green Metallic doesn't get justice in pictures. I was never a big fan of the painted headstock, but it just sets this guitar off. The pickups are everything I was looking and hoping for. If you're waffling on this, just take the leap!
This was my first major purchase from Sweetwater, and I've bought from the other major sites. The service with Sweetwater really is second to none. My sales engineer Mac Hatton was on top of everything from start to finish. I'm ready for a long relationship with Sweetwater. These guys are the real deal!
The Bass
This is a bass you can use in every situation. The pickups are delicious. The Adam Clayton J Bass is a custom shop level piece. It sounds and looks beautiful! The service provided by Sweetwater is excellent, my Engineer Aaron Robertson was kind and kept me informed at every step of the process. I didn't just find the best bass around, I am starting a long-term relationship with Sweetwater.
Great Bass!
This bass compares favorably with many of the Fender Custom Shop Jazz axes, but is easier on the wallet! The Fender Custom Shop 60's pickups in this instrument give it the vibe many desire. Fantastic tone! The action on the instrument is impeccable, and the alder body weight is easy on the shoulders! The Sherwood green finish is beautiful. If you are looking for a fantastic, USA-made 4-string Jazz bass, look no further! This is one of the best.
Many thanks to my long-time sales engineer, Aaron Regenald for his help (and patience) while considering which instrument to purchase.
Cool green bass
The man who does the 55 point check is an awesome dude just kidding he is a piece of crap con man who rubbed black greasy stuff all over the strings and the body of my 1,850$ bass guitar thanks guy because of you spent that much on something and it didn't seem right to you you wouldn't be be happy than anything less than perfect would you sweetwater needs to fire that guy with the long hair who does the inspections
Love this bass
My bass player bought this bass after I got the chance to play one and have been singing it's praises since. He couldn't be happier with his purchase. Sounds great live and in the studio. The neck feels great and the tone is superb.
One fine bass!
I've been reading nothing but great reviews on the Fender Adam Clayton Jazz Bass and decided to act on buying one. I wasn't disappointed. First... Sweetwater's sales guy, Paul, was a great help. Second... Sweetwater set the bass up before shipping, so all I had to do was take it out and check the tuning and I was set. It's a fine playing guitar. Action is fantastic and those 60's custom shop pickups really do put the sounds out. It's a fabulously gorgeous jazz bass and I would recommend to anyone that's interested in owning a great instrument that truly does hit the mark. Thanks!
Awsome Instrument
This is a great instrument, the sound, playability, quality bass!!!
Clint Bransteter is such a great sales engineer and provides a 5***** star service.
This is an AA+++ team !!
Awesome Bass !
The color is amazing. The picture doesn't do it justice. I normally play a Rick. I wanted to get a second bass and chose a fender. I know now I made the right choice. The sound is fantastic. I love the neck of this bass. It is very easy to play. I wanted something different from every Jass bass. That is why I chose the Adam Clayton. From the lollipop tuners to the custom shop pickups. I would give this a 10.
Wonderful bass!
The color and styling of this bass just blows me away. The matching headstock with the body reeks of the mid-60s Fenders. Sweetwater did a great job of setting it up and I play it all the time, along with my Fender American Standard Jaguar bass. Fender did a great job.
The custom shop pick-ups really THUMP!
My only glitch was I'm not fond of white pearloid pick guards ... and in the case of this elegant bass, it's almost too gaudy. So, I replaced that with a regular Fender white Jazz bass, 10-hole pick guard.
