No Better J Bass in My Opinion
After trying several Jazz bass configurations from different brands over the last year or so, I can honestly say this one crushes them all. The neck is incredible, the tone is amazing and the playability is effortless. I don't know how Fender can top this for a production instrument, but I have no need to look anymore. My only decision now is when to buy another one of these in a different color, or get the P bass version.
Not cheap, but worth every penny. And that is coming from someone who is very picky with instruments. Sweetwater is always awesome to deal with as well!
Sounds Great! Feels great!
I love this bass. It is definitely expensive, but I love how it sounds and feels. I had it setup by Sweetwater and it plays perfectly. No regrets.
A work of art
In 1968 I bought almost the same Jazz Bass at B-Sharp Music in Minneapolis. Unfortunately due to some hard times in the late 70's I sold that bass
I've regretting selling my 68 ever since so when the 75th anniversary model came out I couldn't resist I'm very happy, it looks great, plays like a dream
The only difference is the color of the pick guard.

The Best
I wish I could have gotten The Fender American Ultra Jazz Bass. I went from Used to New and from as cheap as I could. I took a chance and got this. Other Bass players have told me how they love my bass and they want one for them self. The tone is so Beautiful. Makes me sound like I know what I am doing.
Great bass
Not purchased here on sweet water, but this is the best you can get out of a jazz bass. True pinnacle of Fender's iconic Jbass. You're upgrading wood grain and looks with anything beyond this point. Top performance and quality.

I’m ashamed I didn’t get it sooner
Been playing bass for 10-15 years, and it's the best thing I've ever played. The neck is beyond perfect and the sound is beyond belief, you can dial it anywhere you want with ease.
If you're someone who has been playing 5+ years, get the financing and treat yourself. It be the best money you'd ever spend on a bass.

Fender American Ultra Jazz Bass
The FENDER American Ultra Jazz Bass has been one of my favorite Basses I have ever played. I have been playing for over 40 years and I must say this bass gives you a lot of options, especially in the (Active Mode). The only reason I am giving this the Fender American Ultra Jazz Bass 4 Stars is because the 2 - 9 Volt Batteries are draining way too fast. I returned to the first bass I received because the batteries died after 4 weeks after I received it. I unplug the bass after I am done playing. Sweetwater customer service was great. They shipped out another Fender American Ultra Jazz Bass to me within days of me explaining the problem to their technical support group. I am currently playing the replacement bass. The 9 volt batteries died after 6 weeks. This has to be a problem from the Fender Factory. Hopefully this problem is resolved soon. My overall rating would definitely be 5 stars when the Active Mode 9 volt battery issues is resolved.
Stunning sound but....
Purchased this bass about 6 weeks ago and was super excited to put it through its paces. Set up was great and sound was amazing!! 2 days later batteries died swapped them out and 2 days later dead again. Went to rehearsal next day figuring I had an issue put new batteries in again and halfway through practice preamp completely died. Luckily was able to continue on thanx to passive mode. Sent back received 2nd bass and within a week kept getting slight buzz in sound. After trouble shooting all other potential causes and determining it was pickup or preamp related sent back for bass 3. Might just be my inherent bad luck but if you purchase make sure there is no electronic issues. As you can see even after that **** show still gave it 4 stars it sounds that good. Hopefully it was a fluke and I can enjoy this bass for many years to come.
